I sincerely doubt that Bioware has a shovel massive enough to dig themselves out of this one. I'm prepared to be wrong.

Perhaps a BP "We're Sorry" montage from South Park... or the Nick Clegg "I'm Sorry" Remix?

Wouldn't make us forgive them, but it'd be good for a chuckle.

EA has more or less given up on Steam. After the DA2 fiasco, they basically abdicated the site. It's what led to Origin's rebranding in the first place.

Oh, I know EA doesn't release their games on Steam anymore, I was here when they removed DA2 from there. I mean the patches for DAO. For steam users, I'm assuming it's there so they won't need to a dd.

I'm curious to know how much, if any, the current situation will effect people's decision on whether or not to buy new Bioware games (especially ME: Andromeda). Is there any way to set up an informal poll here for the final days?

*snorts*

It wouldn't surprise if the thread got nuked shortly after you made it.

And let me add -

Where will new players who buy DAO get the patches?

How will players get the official DLC?

Where will players be able to download the toolset from?

Where will the so-called support at Origin send players for answers when they don't know? (btw - a lot of us don't use the social media that is being touted as 'the answer')

yes, yes, I could send a PM, but I think EVERYONE deserves answers to all of these questions.

I want to know these answers too!

Am I supposed to hurriedly download all DLC and patches now and hope no hdd gets toasted forever and ever?

Or are they saying I had enough playtime of my DLCs for they money I paid and I'm SOL?

And about support... LOL... look what nonsense they replied on twitter:

@deahamlet Hey there, that's weird indeed, but they might have thought about our AnswersHQ forums here: ... https://goo.gl/akfWjW

For what it's worth, I will not be giving Bioware money. They don't care, but that's a fact.

I actually make sure to save any dlc I've downloaded just in case something like this happens. I hadn't thought about the patches though :/

I think part of the problem of Bioware Edmonton(aside from all the original execs leaving) is that a lot of the upper management (who used to be Devs themselves) have been with the company for so long. You always read about so and so moving onto a new studio after doing a project or being at a company for a long time. You never hear of them moving to Bioware though. Montreal had a lot of talent leave and Edmonton doesn't seem to be growing that much.

Plus from all accounts, Edmonton isn't exactly the best place to have a developer.

I wonder if when I visit the forums on a monday morning this thread will be locked.

There actually is a poll function on the forum, but it has been disabled. It was originally accessible through Off Topic.

I backed up most of the DLC and patches years ago to ensure I could reinstall the games easier on new machines.

Gorramit Bioware, the whole point of being crazy prepared is that you're supposed to be crazy to prepare for the worst, not prescient.

I feel bad today, something related to my number of posts... I don't know.
I feel like I am evil incarnate. I feel toxic, poisonous, vitriolic, caustic, venomous, corrosive even.

Maybe I am toxic. I mean, look at my avatar image! it doesn't get more toxic than that... As if I was the very Devil hismself.

I really like system of a down. I don't know why I didn't think of it sooner since "toxic" seems to be a such a huge part of why the BSN is being closed, even though it's been skirted around by those we shall not speak of.

I have to agree with you. My bet is that Andromeda will be a sort of reboot of the ME series, without being a reboot.

It will be a new story, with a new protagonist, one that looks much younger than Shepard. That asari from the trailer is also quite youthful. So I'm guessing Bioware isn't really concerned with what their fanbase has to say about the game because they're aiming at a younger audience.

It's going to be interesting to see how ME:A addresses the endings of ME3, or if it even addresses it at all.  It is going to be in a new galaxy after all and all of that.  If I had to guess, I am leaning towards the idea that they are just going to whitewash the original trilogy.

The Escapist has put up a board on their forum for BSN exiles http://www.escapistm...ine.com/forums/.

However at the time of posting they've not bothered to put a 'New Topic' button on the page, so no-one can actually use it. Something I find somewhat amusing.

Anyone willing to challenge Bioware to a fiddle contest (or a rock off) for the future of the forums?

Even the demon code obliges the devil to accept such a challenge... surely Bioware would do the same to defend their honour?

(Give us a chance to save our forums... and rock your socks off) ;)

I can't help but kind of love the editorial description of the forum referring to us as the "Exiled."

I don't think what AlanC9 said is correct: in the original ending the Catalyst clearly states that ALL synthetic lives will be destroyed, that is precisely the catch of the red option.

Child: You can wipe out all synthetic life if you want. Including the Geth. Even you are partly synthetic...

You're correct about the released version, but I was talking about the leaked pre-release outline -- the one where the name "Catalyst" hasn't been invented yet and the intelligence on the Citadel is known as the Guardian instead, (My fault for being unclear about what "original ending" meant.)

People said that destroying other AIs was a late addition to make players have to consider picking something other than Destroy. People were right.

I wouldn't be surprised if they open a new forum after closing this one, rebranding is such a typical marketing tactic.

That would be such a boneheaded move that I'm hoping it plays out.

A lot of the same people would just register on the new forum, except for being more bitter. The new forum might actually be toxic.

It's pretty clear that they want to migrate PC users to Origin, so patching is automatic. (Dunno if anyone's hosting the NWN critical rebuilds, though)

Can a Steam game be migrated to Origin? Can't test it myself since I don't own any EA games on Steam.

The only ones I've moved over from Steam to Origin are Mass Effect and Dragon Age: Origins.

As long as Steam gives you a cd-key I imagine that most EA games should be swappable.

DA2 should work as well.

I haven't moved any of my EA games to Origin, nor do I plan to.
