That would be such a boneheaded move that I'm hoping it plays out.

A lot of the same people would just register on the new forum, except for being more bitter. The new forum might actually be toxic.

 

Han, the first time I remember encountering you was in a DAO debate about Loghain. You stepped in and summarized my point more concisely and directly than I ever could have done at the time. I was a little in awe of you, and too shy to actually initiate conversation for a long time.

 

Still, I always paid careful attention to your input. If I saw that you posted in a thread, I was more likely to read that thread because of it. You've taught me more about science and history than some of my actual science and history teachers.

 

Thank you for choosing to hang out here, thank you for your thoughtfulness, your myriad of teachable information. If I don't see you in the other forums down the line, I want you to know that I'm grateful, and that I'll miss you.

If the decision was made at the 'EA suit' level, it won't be. On the other hand, if it was fully BioWare's idea, there is a slight chance.

Tbh, even if they made new forums, which they won't, I wouldn't join them. I have some pride you know. There's other forums to talk about BW games on, and other developers out there attempting the things that elevated BW to its current status and emphasizing on the elements BW seems to have abandoned. It's a loss, but not a debilitating one in my opinion.

Same thing happened when Off Topic was closed. Thread was left up to vent, not to convince them what they did was a bad choice.

I've wondered the same thing. Leaving this thread open seems uncharacteristically bizarre, considering everything that transpired in the recent past.

Bioware - based on previous performance, I am preparing for the worst, but will ask to confirm

• is private messaging being removed?
• is the toolset wiki being removed?
• are the projects going to be removed/unsupported?
• could the toolset forum be left as 'read only' since some of that information was never moved to a wiki?
• could the 'technical support' forums be left as 'read only' since that information isn't available anywhere else?
• is Origin support going to receive more training since their current default is to suggest the forum for any questions (technical support) about DA games?
• are groups going to be removed/become inactive?

 

If these questions have been answered on some other form of social media, I would appreciate it if someone could copy/paste the answers or provide a link.

Last time I checked the thread was early morning, now it's night and we're two pages behind where we were then. When I joked about them not letting the thread pass page 221 I didn't expect them to take it as a challenge!

Keeping everything in one place so they can keep track of all the people they want to give warning points or ban is very efficient. They should be commended.
