I don't think what AlanC9 said is correct: in the original ending the Catalyst clearly states that ALL synthetic lives will be destroyed, that is precisely the catch of the red option.

Child: You can wipe out all synthetic life if you want. Including the Geth. Even you are partly synthetic...

Ugh, Starkid's blatantly manipulative dialogue  The sentence and delivery make it clear. "You can do this terrible thing if you want, but you wouldn't want that, would you?" And then it tries to sway you by implying that you'll die too. Well, it was a liar, Shepard lives!

Sorry, it's just still not out of my system after 4 years.

I have to agree with you. My bet is that Andromeda will be a sort of reboot of the ME series, without being a reboot.

It will be a new story, with a new protagonist, one that looks much younger than Shepard. That asari from the trailer is also quite youthful. So I'm guessing Bioware isn't really concerned with what their fanbase has to say about the game because they're aiming at a younger audience.

Hey, I'm 20! :P To be fair though, I wouldn't really say Ryder (weird) looks much younger than Shepard. Part of it is just the better character graphics. We'll have to see what their bio says. But I agree they're trying to do a reboot without doing a reboot. Speaking of which...

It's going to be interesting to see how ME:A addresses the endings of ME3, or if it even addresses it at all.  It is going to be in a new galaxy after all and all of that.  If I had to guess, I am leaning towards the idea that they are just going to whitewash the original trilogy.

I think so too, even if it won't make any sense. What, the Ark doesn't have any QECs? Those things were all over the place in ME3 (even if it didn't make sense), surely they'd put some one the ships leaving the galaxy! You know, so they could tell The Milky Way they successfully found a home, or so The Milky Way could kindly let them know they defeated the Reapers and they can rest easier knowing they aren't anyone's last hope anymore.

But nope, that would mean they'd have to clarify how the Reapers were defeated. I mean, unless for some reason they don't feel like mentioning that the Reapers are currently galactic police, or that everyone's green now (as the literal ending would have you believe). Kind of a big thing not to mention. Anyway... it'll be stupid.

I'm curious to know how much, if any, the current situation will effect people's decision on whether or not to buy new Bioware games (especially ME: Andromeda). Is there any way to set up an informal poll here for the final days?

Too bad they removed the poll feature... Well, I can't say this makes me want to get Andromeda more, no. But I was never thrilled about it since we learned its title and the implications that carries (trying to ignore their mess by moving to another galaxy). As I've mentioned before, I might pick it up on sale to experience the utter weirdness that will be hearing everyone call me by name, but even then it really depends on user-feedback, too. Not "professional" reviews, fan reviews.

Hmm, I just remembered: No matter what I name my character, it will sound stupid to me

Idk why they're closing forum, just like I don't  know why they're trying to keep this thread on page 221. Are they afraid it will look bad if the thread count is higher? It's such odd behavior that it becomes intriguing.

Yes. Gotta make it seem like we made fewer posts than we did! Still, we should probably not go out of our way to get warning points, I'd like to see as many pages as possible.

:P Worrying/thinking about the whole thing in general. This closure thing is wearing me out...

I'm not a Spirit of Wisdom, but, apparently this cat can likes Jenga.

That's adorable!!!

That was the Bioware of old. The Bioware that died. The Bioware that used to be here but now only exists in memories scattered through the winds of fans longing for the company that used to be.

It'll be even more dead soon, since all the history here will be erased from existence :?

I enjoy all of your incarnations!

Thank you!

*snip*

(...ugh seriously I should not have tried ranting with DA song names. doesn't seem to work as well as Mass Effect.)

Wow, well done! On both posts. I love stuff like that, and it must have taken some effort =]

I wish Mods and BW realise that us continuing to participate in these forums we are doing them a favour as we are to a large extent still abiding their rules and guidelines. If they shun people out, they might get so distraught they go to Facebook and start hate-pages and more

The last time Bioware fans felt this alienated and a total lack of support from a group of clueless, overly officious and out-of-touch people... it took place in ME2, when we learned Shepard's dedication had been rewarded with being blacklisted by the Council, leaving them with no choice but to team up with Cerberus and form a Suicide Squad.

Who's betting we'll get our own social media repeat of the Bahak Incident at some point down the line?

The Mass Effect: Andromeda post has been imported!

That's great news, Fexelea. :)

Great job and thanks. :)

Edit 1: Woah!!! It works! I'm impressed! That's very cool.

Edit 2: I almost can't believe it, but reality is sinking in. All the forum info can be preserved. I've added a post to the copy of the Andromeda forum and that works as well. It is as if you can continue there were you left off here.

I can't speak for 4-5 years ago, but I've found this is an overall pretty good forum. I'm a former WoW player and I used to hang out in the Story/Lore section. Battle.net is and has been the worst forum I've ever been in. I remember way back in the day, back in 2004, my then-boyfriend showed me the forums for battle.net. I was aghast, and it was much the same before I left in 2013. Shoot, one of the threads was in the Story section was "What's your favorite adult star?" Despite folks reporting the thread, it went to it's max lifespan (which was 25 pages.)

The devs that work for Blizzard are likely fully aware of how bad their forums can be. You know what they don't do? They don't engage in the forums and then turn around to say how terrible it is. It's not to say that Blizzard hasn't made it's own missteps in the past, such as the Corpsegrinder gnome/blood elf rant being shown at Blizzcon. However, as much as Blizzard has frustrated me in the past, they do show that they at least respect the fans enough to not slam on them. They just leave the forums to the blue mods (official Blizzard employees) and...wait for this...the green mods, which are players with a good track record on the forums.

We aren't the same group sending death threats. Many of the forum users were there, and I read old BSN posts where plenty of people were telling others to knock it off with the threats and insults. I guess that part got ignored in favor of focusing on the negative. Charming.

So there's that too. One company that's even older than BioWare doesn't feel the need to talk crap about their forums. One that's probably had as much if not more harassment as BioWare. Like I mentioned before, this is a self-fullfilling prophecy to an extent. Over the years I've sadly seen several BioWare employees continuously talk about how terrible and awful this place is. Never mind the fact that they still somehow think that it's the same community as it was 4 years ago.

I remember when a certain poster wouldn't quit harassing Gaider over Cassandra's looks. He sent Gaider constant tweets and PMs here. He did that a lot, since the poster was allowed to run around for 6 months. That's sad, but it's also funny in a messed up sort of way. Gaider, who no longer works for the company, who choose to come to the forums of his own free will, has decided to crow with pleasure on twitter. It's like he went, "See, see! I told you the site was disgusting and awful. Look at what this poster did to me!"

It's been nearly a week since I found out. It still hurts and I'm actually angry at the company. Squareenix disappointed me to the point where I'm "meh" about their games. Blizzard frustrated me with actions like Diablo 3 needing an internet connection and the unholy mess that was Cataclysm. BioWare is the only game company that I've loved that has got me angry. I've never felt like such a throw-away fan like I do here.

Can you please stop with all the good posts you do as you are forcing me to give you likes all the time!!!

Yeah that's the guy!  No he was definitely not slamming Alliance fans.  He just loved Thrall and the Horde.  Which I get, my heart was with the Horde even though I mostly played Alliance because...Werewolves.

He... Chris "This filthy human woman Jaina shall not touch my beloved Thrall! I shall invent a completly new, pureblooded orc that he loves since.... ever!" Metzen. Classic fella, that guy.

I've just realised that the forum Dark theme is no longer in beta, so that's something.

Nice that they got around to finally finishing the theme, isn't it?

Just saw this now as I've been away on holiday! I'm gutted! Bioware, what are you playing at? Are you seriously saying you can't afford or staff a public forum? I'm sure there are many other boards I could go to for Mass Effect news and chat, but I chose here as have many thousands of others.

I'm gutted, disappointed, and frankly, pretty pissed off! All this vital game info, friends across the world, all going to be gone... just like that.

Where else will people whine about Asari and their (lack of) eye brows?!

Now we can travel around the world, meeting with you face-to-face at events like PAX, SDCC, and even shows in our own backyard. We can share stories with you on the go, giving you a look behind the scenes on sites like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram.

I think that's the heart of the messege right there. Bioware isn't interested in anything that involves two-way communication - they want to "share" with us, but only if we can't share back in return.

What with the constant allthedrama at uBSN and the online abuse originating from people at Cyonan's BSN, I don't believe either of them is worth the effort.

Wow, the forum has really slowed down after the warning point/banning spree. It's actually quite sad to see so many users now too disheartened to even enjoy their last few weeks here. What a depressing closure to the BSN.

I suppose I'll probably get a warning point for this observation as well.

Have a 'like' or two to offset that.  :)

It's better. You can even continue the discussions. I've tried it and it works. One forum after the other will be restored. The next one will be ME3 with 3 million posts. Fexelea is working on that one now.

In the end you'll even get your post count back. That'll make LPPrince happy. ;)

Only downside I see in the transfer right now is that anything that was in spoiler brackets here can't be opened in the spoiler brackets there. Which I see as an acceptable loss for a transfer of this scale.

Some nostalgia:

I first started visiting the boards back when Neverwinter Nights 2 came out. I bought NWN and NWN 2 at the same time and was confused by the whole Obsidian/BioWare thing and so joined the wrong board to ask some stupid questions about a very broken game (NWN 2). I got help. Not just from ordinary posters, but from Bioware people as well. That left a very good impression with me and I stuck around. I think my love of the boards peaked around DAO. Everyone was so nice. The doctors were still around and the passions for making a great game was evident. More to the point, what the BW people posted were their real thoughts, not words from a script. They were off the cuff and directly responsive.

Then DA2 came out. It was an obvious rush job and the posting went on script as they tried, valiantly, to defend a game that needed more time. If I were to guess, that was when most of them withdrew. The doctors left and the passion for the projects under development diminished dramatically. It's human nature, an entrepreneur will always be far more inspirational than an employee, no matter how talented. I wasn't involved with ME, but even I could see that BW dropped the ball with ME3. And instead of taking responsibility, as the doctors had done, BW botched the response, at least for a while. BW then moved almost completely on script and what communications there were became increasingly one sided and bland.

The good feelings engendered by my early interactions over NWN 2 (not even their game!) are gone. I remember those days fondly, but BW is now just a company I used to know (link is both worksafe and not Rick Astley).

God I miss the DAO days. Coming off the ME1 days, Bioware was looking REAL good and were doing real good too;I still remember the tournament between teams from around the world representing their countries trying to speedrun through Ostagar. It was cool.

Wanted the U.S. to win(naturally) but the four girls repping us unfortunately ran into a bug that crashed their game and tournament rules stated that a game crash meant you had to start over from whatever point was such and such(I don't remember it was years ago) so the ladies couldn't really finish it.

I don't remember which team won. If anyone was around back then and remembers that'd be great.
