I know this hurts you Shepard.

I know this hurts you Shepard.

Was that for getting a million followers on facebook?
Yeah that's another thing... they prefer customers who act as tangible advertisements for their brand. None of this nebulous stuff like "goodwill."
Yep.
The last tweet pisses me off and i wonder why...
I've been on one Bioware related forum or other since we waited on NWN. I actually seem to remember I've been on Bioware forums since we waited on BG2, but I may have been mistaken, it might have been News groups.
Worrying/thinking about the whole thing in general. This closure thing is wearing me out...
I'm not a Spirit of Wisdom, but, apparently this cat
canlikes Jenga.
Cats never cease to amaze me. Bioware/EA not so much...
I must spend more time looking at cat videos instead of playing games and visiting forums.
Can we tie in the cat videos to the forum closure in some way? I would definitely be up for more...
Hey, Spirit we need more cat videos, please. Cat videos are friendly, who doesn't like cat videos. THAT just may be the key to turning this whole image problem around...maybe.
That sounds splendid!... but how do we keep it on topic?

Cats in space suits.
Cats in space suits.
Sorry, i forgot that the topic isn't about Mass Effect.
The topic is about how much some people can suck.
*strolls in*
This forum closure is really dumb.
*strolls back out*
"Your account has been suspended till august 30th"

So... videos about cats being jerks? Yeah there are a bunch of those on Youtube.

This somehow seems appropriate, given our situation:
Can we tie in the cat videos to the forum closure in some way? I would definitely be up for more...

But for some good feels, since I'm stressed about this as well:
Dedicated to the "You have sinned and therefore deserve to be smoted" camp:

Do we have rodents here? I'm concerned that our forums are eaten... again.
Cats will save BSN!
Because we want BSN to stay.
Not too late yet, BioWare, to reverse this decision. Please think about what it is you're doing, and the ripple effect it will have.
See this? See this blasphemy?
This, court, is why we need to keep long form forums open. If you release us to the unwashed masses, we too will be ignorant of the nuances between studios, corporate overlords, and character analysis for eternity.
*disclaimer, as they are always required, sorry, I'm amusing myself, and that's my sense of humor.
Objection! Your honor, it was never my intention to belittle the value of an official message board by mentioning other media outlets.
I also ask for more leniency from the bailiffs regarding comments that only mildly skirt the topic of this discussion.
With all respect, Bioware was something built up from kind of nothing, it took the entire careers of the people building it, lots of love and affection and of course the support of fans like me (bought pretty much every Bioware game on release except BG1, including all the expansions which you know are discussed so much around here)
People are going "Save the forums!" But to use some medical analogies it's kind of like (and I'm not applying this to every poster here that says this, only the trolliest elements) "Oh take us all back! We amputated your limb but please just give us your torso again!"
It's kind of like...
Well, no, that's not how it works. This was a horrible thing, but you know like I personally want the doctors back, I want Jennifer Helper back, and Casey Hudson, I want those people back, but they aren't coming back, so why should this place exist? You know? I don't get it.
I see Blizzard bandied about as a comparison well guess what Blizzard still had Chris Metzen and Samwise Didier, all the toxicity leveled at that company ultimately didn't destroy it, by the time Overwatch came about, it was enriched really.
I can't say Bioware is "destroyed" but it's just not the same comparison, and that's why it's false to just compare the two in any way oh but look at the toxicity elsewhere kind of thing.
Incidentally I played WoW a lot and the toxicity was never as bad as here, this place unfortunately attracted some of the worst kinds of individuals.
For some reason I guess as I was talking to someone about this Andromeda could you know, at the end of it all, be a good game, who can say, for absolutely certain.
Some people are just special, they aren't people you just replace on a whim.
Also I did quite some research on the news. And you wouldn't believe it, closing the forums is literally the dumbest thing ever! I know, crazy!
Anyways. I think I mentioned this before, but sod it; I'm gonna say it again: This is gonna backfire.
They will find themselves in a position in which having a forum for their games will be a must, and people will never forget what they did and what they said about having a forum being "counter-productive". They are going to have to rely fully on newcomers, but even newcomers will find out eventually what the company did in the past. And yet again they'll find themselves having to prove that they are (if they ever recover) a trustworthy company that cares about their customers, over and over and over, for quite some time. Rebuilding everything from scratch, and the stain will always be there.
BioWare, sincerely I can only say this:

you're gonna need it.
Seraphim24,
You may be right about that. By waxing nostalgic going through the old threads here, it just may be I am hoping for something that doesn't exist anymore, can't exist anymore because those people that interacted here back in the day, are either not here anymore, or not the same people anymore. In that case, it is even more grievous that all this will disappear as if none of those interactions ever took place. And, no I haven't been around from the beginning like some others here, like you, I am sorry you have seen the company morph so much that it's hard to recognize it any longer.
Mm.... I've been thinking about the precise nature of those consequences.
I know since Blizzard is still going strong, a lot of fans of Bioware are pretty happy to play a good Blizzard game, so they can go there.. there's also... well... lets just say there's sort of places for people to go, in a sense, many will probably be right here.
The odd thing is one of the laws of corporate fidelity were reversed (thou shalt not hire anyone who understands the culture, after the culture is in the process of being controlled and harvested!) they actually could fix a lot of their problems.
I doubt anyone would take the advice, but that Straykat guy seriously understood Bioware as well as anyone and would be utterly capable of creating masterly entertainment, but he's like some random guy to the corporate culture. (Hey Straykat again! If you are reading of course you already know I like you..
)
Instead they're hiring like "Young Adult" Lit people which is like oh yeah totally like Bioware's fan base, see we all loved that stuff back in the day, totally couldn't get enough of it. Like, totally, like, I re-watched Clueless like 8 times it was like, amazing. And like, there's a new vampire series out right now which is SO TOTALLY COOL and I've been ZOMG so hot and bothered over the new BOY CAUSE HES SO CUTE!!! ZOMGPINK!111
It would require acknowledging things like talent is innate, genetic, and supreme, though, which would be pure toxin to the corporate psychology, so I consider it unlikely to happen.
It would also literally just require knowing what the original Bioware culture actually was, and being able to recognize it, which is also something they don't totally grasp.
Honestly though I've encountered, heck maybe at least 4-5 posters that reasonably approximate the essence of Bioware in one form or another.
As is, the remaining people kind of are pretty cool, like you know, I think I've said, Laidlaw, etc, they are really cool people, I just don't know if they are able to make those scintillating dashes like DA2 and stuff... and that's problematic from the perspective of that's what made Bioware Bioware in many ways, anyway, got to go.
Also for moderation purposes I would consider this on topic and to the point, not intended to flame, unless you read humor as flaming...
I guess my point is, for the situation to be fixed, it could be fixed, but it requires beyond simple acts of "We're here for you" Or "Here's your forum" it has to extend deeper... things like... hiring... firing... money... something more tangible than just "Sorry!"
Although for finality purposes, I'm just talking on a more cosmic level, the idea of rights and wrongs, obligations, understandings, on a more practical level, I'm sure they will stay the course, but also you know, sell games, and stuff, I assume, one way or the other, even if they don't do anything.
Also I did quite some research on the news. And you wouldn't believe it, closing the forums is literally the dumbest thing ever! I know, crazy!

Arthur Dayne! How little we saw of thee!
When I first started reading your post I though, "****, it was actually on the news?" And then I felt a wave of sarcasm hit me and I smiled.
Incidentally I played WoW a lot and the toxicity was never as bad as here, this place unfortunately attracted some of the worst kinds of individuals.
Sure about that?
I think this place was portrayed so poorly because
1. Bioware has a thinner skin than other companies do
2. The media took the worst bits, never let them go, and acted like they were around all the time(Quarian sweat for an example)
3. Bioware threw everyone under the bus and painted us all as being toxic instead of dealing with the actual people causing them problems
Thus, we reached the point we're at now.

Thanks Boom! I needed this and ... you know what ... I will heed said advice ... I am going.
As those BSN higher-ups used to say..."And, we are done here!"
This is like that other time, the time that shall not be mentioned. I waited a long time then, as well. The change did not happen then, and it is not going to happen now. Is it?
There is a distinct difference though. The decision then, I had to live with, the one now, they do.I have always seen worth in these forums. But then I look much deeper than just the surface in general as well as in life.
It feels like home over there. Go! And never look back!
Burn it! Burn it to the ground and never look back!
*clears throat*
Yeah, so it's really nice on the BSN boards.
