They are still in touch for one, just not here and haven't been here for a while.  Also, you aren't disproving that poster with that first sentence.

Seriously, it's okay to be upset but people are only proving how awful this forum had gotten by the over reactions and hostility this thread has provided.

I'm definitely with you that closing the forums isn't an excuse for acting like a terrible person.

But I also look at this a lot like entrapment - I'm not a fan of dishing out the punishment then retroactively justifying it with how everyone responds to the situation in the aftermath. Extreme acts end up provoking extreme reactions. It's a bit backwards, imo.

MEA Amazon pre-order has been available for more than two years...

...

I shouldn't be surprised.

I don't buy videogames at amazon since I have a Game near me, so I tend to wait to reserve stuff there (sometimes even after reviews have popped up, since technically speaking you can preorder a game the day before it releases.)

I avoid your example as it appears to be one made of straw.

I accept that I will lose the forums along with everyone, but I choose to act differently than many in this thread.

You might want to read what a strawman argument is then.

Hint: if you use as an example that the military would punish you for the actions of the guy standing next to you as an argument, it's not a strawman to point out that you're endorsing a temp. ban for yourself because of the actions of the guy next to you. That's argument from analogy 101.

I notice that you did dodge my question though - by your logic, would you have considered it acceptable for Bioware to have issued a temp. ban for actions which had no relation to your own here on the forums. That is, in a nutshell, what collective responsibilty is. Unless your answer here is a "yes, I wholeheartedly support getting a temp ban even when I did nothing wrong", the whole point falls apart.

Elhanan has never once directly addressed the substance of any question posed to him. I don't see why he should start doing so now.

Patches are kinda a customer's god given right, considering their very existence implies the developer effed something up in the first place. Removing a space which those very customers used to discuss (and fix) a ton of issues BW couldn't be bothered to deal with because it was also used to express dissatisfaction with the products they're selling is what I'd call childish.

Why not ban negative reviews on Amazon while we're at it? Only option should be five stars, or no review at all.

At least Amazon tries to let actual Players make such scores, as opposed to sites like Metacritic where one can score without having played the game. But I digress....

Patches and QA are a privilege; not a right. Thankfully, Bioware has been great at helping my Techless self over the past couple of decades; a reason why I remain a customer. But how I choose to act is hopefully not based on their actions, or those of others.

You can preorder ME:A already? I'm not entirely surprised but c'mon, there hasn't been any gameplay shown, nor do we really know much  or little about the game.

I've got this sneaking suspicion that ME Andromeda is gonna be the type of game which is more appealing the less you know about it.

They don't sound like they're in touch when they are closing down the forums despite the protest of their community. People are being given the middle finger here, they are upset. I am unhappy about this myself.

Let them voice their opinions about the matter. Things such as this will naturally trigger a negative reaction.

This community is a tiny percentage of Bioware's audience.  Not only do few that used to post here still post, but most of those that played any Bioware game have never posted here period.  Let's not act like we are greater or more special than we are.

Reminds me - I hope we can save the foul language thread. Johnson's counters to his arguments in there was one of the more interesting dev posts I've seen - aside from the old "ask Bioware any question" thread - which was a classic.

You do speak the truth there. It's still unhealthy what they are doing, but you are correct.

Very well, I stand corrected.

it's something that should never happen. the logic is very sound.

Bioware, if you are gonna close the forum.. at least see majority of the community is not the one to be blamed for toxicity you see and read about. it's not them. it's the gamers in general. the ones in gaming sections are generally known to be very hostile, toxic to anybody that talks bad about the games or talk about how bad a game is. that's the ones who are making the community look "toxic" here. when in fact, Off-Topic Community is actually very nice, friendly and fun. i have firsthand experience with my fans as well, they are just same as the off-topic community. so listen to your fans from off-topic. they are the majority that gives good reviews, discussions on how good your games are. not the ones in gaming section of yours, they tend to be insane and will attack any poster.

Cassandra has another alt? LMAO!

Enemies everywhere!

ETA: Ah, name change from RealKorra. Cassandra, having about a billion alts is one thing. Impersonating a real person is taking the sketchiness to another level.

Everything we know, or rather that we've been so long without knowing anything, leads me to that idea too.

But tbh every bit of info leading to DA:I had me really excited about the game. I loved the concept they were selling me and I was left very dissapointed with what I got.

As for bolded, I disagree vehemently. I pay for a quality product, and BW is obliged to provide it. If it's a mess and doesn't perform as advertized, they must fix it or let me return it for a refund. As for the rest, I'm sorry but this makes no sense to me. An action causes a reaction. What BW does will absolutely influence how I react to it. And I don't believe Zen monks humbly accepting whatever happens are a prominent part of their customer base.

I think it should be there on Fextralife. I didn't go looking for it specifically, but apparently the whole forum switched over, and tons of my posts are visible.

And I'm astonished that having a Bioware employee of all people disagreeing with him didn't cause him to completely short-circuit.

Just stopping back in to say, yeah.  I'm still really salty and getting saltier every day!

The fact that BioWare wants to close the forums so their fans can use crappy sites (facebook/twitter) to try and communicate with them.  Yeah.  They are crappy for that type of interaction.  In fact I find those places to be full of more trolls and "toxic" (there's that word again!) people than here.  SO THERE BIOWARE :P

Awesome, catch you on the Fextralife/Dark Souls sub-forums then?

I think that's the plan for now, once I get situated. The continuity granted by the forum migration seems like it'll make it the best place to pick up the pieces.

Very well, I stand corrected.

It's just something that has become more and more apparent as I have started running into Bioware fans outside of the internet... almost none of them post on these forums or any forum in general.  They will tweet mostly if they do anything.  I would have guessed most would have posted here at some point since they have a lot of merch (one guy has every N7 merch ever released and has never posted on the forum).  So it was eye opening how tiny this forum was in the end.

Hey I felt the same way about Halo 5!

Halo what?  Never heard of it.  Must be some fan made spin off.  Yes.  Halo 5 does not exist.  It can't.

Why are you impersonating a real person this time with the Jessica Nigri name?
