I'm going to experiment and see what happens, when I make a slight change to the text that has been removed.
Note that the text below is an early draft, so the original version may have been somewhat different.
Here it goes:
-----
In my opinion the list below contains some known facts about the forums, the close down and its deletion.
- The message was given to us on a blog and the forum itself.
- There was no e-mail sent to inform the users about the forum close down and its purge.
- A lot of people do not frequent the forum in between releases.
- A lot of people are on holiday in the summer.
- Because of the above, a lot of people learn about the close down after the fact.
- There is no other BW news in this period, other than this, so any fall out fades away before news later this year.
- After facing a lot of negative opinions after DA2 and ME3 BW wanted the forums to be closed (according to an inside source).
- To discourage people from visiting the forums the off-topic section was closed.
- The community manager has changed several times, the current one is unknown to most, and does not seem interested in this community.
- The forums are a great way to convey opinions about complex games and to discuss them.
- The forums are a great way for BW to collect those opinions, or at least we were told so in the past.
- A lot users of the forums help new users to fix in-game and technical problems or provide workarounds for non-fixable problems.
- EA's support values the resources provided by the forums and often send users there to seek further help.
- The forums provide information to several wiki's, game modifications, cosplayers, fanartists, etc., and many hyperlinks can be traced back to this forum.
- Over the years many friendships and even some marriages started here.
- BW directs fans to social media which are unlikely to provide the majority of the advantages of the forums.
- BW was unable to handle moderation on its own and therefor hired professional digital engagement service operators.
The list is probably not complete and maybe some do not see some of the above as facts. However, you cannot blame the users of these forums to be confused and agitated about BW's decision and its way of presenting it. What it does show, is that BW is in no way committed to its forum community. The close down and the deletion of its content is proof of that. It not only wants the forums to be closed, it wants their existence to be purged from history.
Any company having such a dedicated forum community would have been proud of it and would have done everything in its power to keep it and make it a pleasant experience. The reasons for doing so are simple to grasp. Fans that are happy with the company, attract new fans. Fans that are unhappy, will advice others against the purchase of the company's products. Nothing indicates that BW was willing or even considering constructive solutions to prevent the close down of the forums.
EA has the advantage that the media is on their side because defending the BW forums is not in the interests of the media. If the media write anything that is not in favor of EA or its BW label then EA may not give them their next scoop, or they may be removed from the EA list to get early review game copies, or EA may decide not to advertise there. So, obviously it is in the media's best interest to defend EA and the closing of the forums. Toxicity is enough click bait for this "news".
Do I want to prevent the close down of these forums? And then what? Even if I could, am I supposed to trust BW again? Currently, that doesn't seem very likely after their attempts to muzzle the forum community.

And now I feel like a liar.
