Looked in briefly before my remaining portion of faith in humanity died. It's hilarious how many of the posters are worried that we're going to flood their forums. They seem to have a very high opinion of themselves and don't realise that most posters here wouldn't touch that forum with a 20 foot pole.

I think the funniest part is how quickly someone brought up Tali's sweat.

I mean, it was one guy like a half decade or so ago, and this many people are still fixated on it.

Also, how many different kinds of response buttons does a site actually need?

Nah, you're pretty much a mosquito. Or Don Quixote, tilting at windmills and calling them dragons.

'Injured party'? The only injury you suffered was not liking a poor ending of a mediocre fiction series. You've lost magnitudes more time bitching about ME3's ending than you ever spenty playing through it, and that's no one's fault but your own. You've spent years making contradictory assertions of what Bioware must do, and then pointing at whatever they did as 'mistreatment' as if anything but your ego was bruised. You spent years being bitter, letting it spill into the Andromeda forums where people actually interested in the next game tried to look forward to it, and complained about anything (and nothing) so long as it gave you an excuse, all while whaffling about whether you'd actually ever even play the game or not. Probably just so you could get into the 'bought game only' parts of the forum, rather than relegated to the irrelevance of general topic.

Your 'bad PR' is good PR for them, because you're practically a charicature that validates letting this place die.

Few, if any, people are going to go 'wow, this new guy Iakus has an entirely rational, well-reasoned opinion to still be criticizing ME3 years after it happened.' You're either going to end up in a cauldron of like-minded people equally fixated on imagined slights as you, or a bunch of people far less 'hard core' than you who go 'Dude, it's been three four years, and it wasn't that big a deal back then. Get over it.'

At which point, going by past trends, you'll either continue to stick around and largely be ignored by all but a few people who like poking at your frequently over-the-top claims and diatrabues, or you'll go off to a like-minded cauldron of resentment and stew before going back to bother people who'd generally prefer to talk about things they enjoy, rather than fixate for another half-decade.

I'm going to miss you and your straw men as well, Dean.   :kissing:

Observe how discrimination comes naturally to people; here in-depth knowledge on vintage RPGs is desirable - but a detailed analysis about Tali' sweat is beyond the pale...  There is something atavistic about it all, dating from the days when we were pre-sentient apes in the savannah; whoever is most popular gets the most females and the most food.  No amount of sophistication since then has been able to offset that reflex.

I don't know...I think it's just normal "romance is for sissies" snobbery combined with normal "biological functions are gross" instinct.

Don't know what you're talking about. I get all the food 'cause I whack everybody else with a big stick. Ain't no popularity contest in my gullet.

So I did the "google for MEA info" to see where it ranks, this is an important test for some reason?! And this forum wasn't on the first page. What IS on the first page though is Bioware/EA defending No Man's Sky first day patch...

*Hermione snip*

Well hopefully that's not a sign that ME:A will be bug-ridden and not-quite-done at launch... and that Bioware thinks that'll be good enough. On the other hand, part of me still wants ME:A to fail spectacularly /TrollBanshee :P

Of course they will. It's part of the plan. Many of us have criticized them, so they first send their dogs after these fans and now they throw the fans away. All of them. Even the fans who didn't criticize them. Closing the forums and purging them from history is much easier than actually do something constructive about it.

Just watched this again, so

Bioware loves to do what is easy, even if it doesn't help them in the long-term.

Anyway, might as well say to Iakus that you're not the only one who's still, uh, annoyed at ME3's ending and how Bioware handled the backlash. Mass Effect means/meant a lot to a lot of people. Of course they'll care when something like that happens.

@Dean: I felt a little conflicted about tossing a like at a post with that much vitriol, but I had to go with my gut.

@ Dean & dreamgazer: once again I'm struck by how much our opinions tend to co-vary even when the topic is pretty much tangential to what we usually talk about here. (And I'm sure you guys can think of a few other names I could slot into that header.) I sometimes wonder what the underlying variable is.

Visit a zoo - observe the monkeys - and you'll get it.  Alternately - just watch what's happening in the office around you.

Monkey see - monkey do.

Eh, why not go out with a bang?

Or a last chance to say what plenty of others have been thinking for awhile.

I can't speak for dreamgazer, but I know what it is for me- a tendency to lean towards argument formation, rather than argument position.

Your deconstructions are always a pleasure- particularly your tendency to keep in mind the meta-positions rather than just the argument rhetoric. Succinctness is good to. You were always the one person on BSN I wish had accepted those friend requests or responded to those PMs when I used to send them.

So, have you found your next watering hole, by any chance? If the social side is what you're interested in, Top Shelf Gaming has Lady and some of the regulars you trade with. Fextralife seems like the next-best lore heavy forum, though. Plus, you take part of that BSN post migration offer.

Back? That implies I was relevant on BSN. How sweet.

Also, ironic on the timing, since I just got back from something you might see on the news in the next few days if you're lucky.

Thanks for not stalking me enough to know how many people I get along with despite disagreeing with?

And for your many memorable moments of lacking self-awareness?

You were like the crazy yapping dog of BSN, superdarkone2. Never change, unless you actually want to raise kids one day.

I haven't actually done anything about that. Procrastinating until the last minute and then running for the final lifeboat is closer to my personal style. Sort of the way Sir Lancelot (Cleese version) couldn't just walk down the stair and out the front door.

I remember being here and making this reference back in December 2012. Good on BioWare for giving me a chance to dust it off once more.

Now everyone should dust off their N64 and their gold cartridge Majora's Mask and go play it.

Is it, really?

I mean for you, specifically. It always seems like you're positively incensed by the existence of anything you don't approve of, even in a safe fictional context. Are you not as furious as you seem, or do you somehow enjoy being angry?
