That must be frustrating :(  Personally, I think you should archive your posts on Fextralife, because you've made lots of great ones and you may regret not being able to access them later. Maybe =]

d'aww  gurl, PM me if you want me to draw you a picture of your inquisitor or Shepard or anything ^_^ as for my posts I think I've decided on:

About sigpics... I made 128 FemShep sigpics. Some upon request. I didn't mind adding romance themes to them. Some examples:

FemShep20C.jpg

FemShep217.jpg

FemShep281.jpg

If you tell the forums that BW listens and allow sigpics then that's a way to make your request known. So, now signature pictures are forbidden. What a surprise.

Man I remember those. Brings a tear to my eye.

This. But with rocket launchers.

Spoiler

*Destructively* Alas poor target, how can I destroy thee? Let me count the ways...

It made me very sad that we never got to see Elcor in action in ME3. Maybe we still will at some point? Can we have them in multiplayer? :D

My favourite members on this forum (in no particular order) Banshee Ownage, Hrungr, Dragon Racer, Natashina, Shadowson (who gave me a key to the keep)aarcher86(who offered to give me a key) and a few other I've probably forgotten

Wow, I'm glad I've impressed, especially next to the big names you listed :o  Thanks!

Who's not going to a new forum?

I thought I might join uBSN because I like talking to myself but I not really convinced.   What do you say Cassandra Saturn?

Well, Bioware, this forum was the only place where I could find info on your current and upcoming games in a concise manner, so screw you. I'm out.

^ And by the way, people up there , Tali STILL deserves a better ending. Proud member of the Retake Movement.

I have imported users up to "leo" on import 4 of the claim thread, if anyone wants you can still claim accounts to be synchronized with ME3:

https://forum.biowar...r-post-history/

We are working on me3, 2, 1 and da2 - then legacy games + offtopic by popular request.

You can post and participate on threads here: http://fextralife.co...wforum.php?f=95

Hello all;

As this will be my final post on the BSN, let me say, I love you guys.

That said, this stupid website changed my life. I was going through some very rough crap ~ 5 years ago... I was coping with a horrific divorce, trying to "pull myself up by my boot-straps" professionally, and I was having a sort-of gaming re-birth.

What I mean by 're-birth' is: Mass Effect blew me away. I played KotOR, and while it was awesome, it was on an old console. It had so many great features, but it always felt stifled. I have many great memories of that game, and it remains in my top 5 all-time videogames.

Mass Effect was so ballsy. It was James Bond & Star Wars and classic RPGs rolled into one. Yes, the combat was clunky. Yes, the graphics were slow to load occasionally. But, damn if it didn't give me a whole new outlook on gaming as a whole. I began to see Biower as a great company. As a visionary, courageous and vital part of the new digital entertainment industry. I had fun playing videogames like I did as a kid. It was truly profound.

Cut to today. The complete eradication of these forums is imminent. The last handful of Biower releases have been... underwhelming to say the LEAST. The mods/devs/stuffed-shirts have resorted to blaming US for the situation. As if we wanted things to get this ridiculous. Of course we didn't. All we wanted was what we wanted from day 1 -- a digital realm where we could discuss the current triumphs of Biower and speculate on their possible plans for the future. However, as with all things... change is the only constant.

Mods stopped using their "actual" internet handles. Many regulars stopped posting. Bitterness & resentment became the status quo. I, personally contributed to this chaos. I admit it. I was angry. I was disappointed by the bugs with the version of ME3 I received on day one. I was annoyed with the DLC... I was further disgruntled by DA2 and Inquisition. Does my stance have any objective merit? No. Absolutely not. Am I still saddened by my naieve belief in a gaming renaissance being in my future being shattered? Yes. Is this even relevant today? Who knows.

My point is, I want to thank Chris Preistley, Selene Moonsong, Stan Woo, and every other mod who interacted with us back in the day. You made me smile. I appreciate your time and effort. Thanks to all the forumites who chatted with my over the years. Thank you to the crybabies who got me banned for a day or a week. Thank you to the Doctors for creating Baldur's Gate & all the other things you guys did to make KotOR possible. Thank you Drew and Casey and the crew who made Mass Effect happen.

Thank you, anonymous person, for reading this.

Oh and if you dislike my opinion or my posts or my personality...

Oh, they're forbidden? Kind of obvious in hindsight, but I never put the dots together. Well that's incredibly lame, they were awesome! But good job making those Femshep banners, I consider it a great contribution to the community B)

Spoiler

Do people really talk about romance that much or do you just not like romance discussions and therefore they stand out to you more? Personally I don't notice a lot of romance threads floating around, certainly not nearly as many as some people make it out to be. "Cassandra is a man with manly man jaw and manly short hair and Josephine is brown and neither are wearing a bikini!" threads annoy me and therefore they stick out to me and I notice them more often than say "what kinds of things do you like to craft?" style threads but objectively there are not very many of the first kind of thread. Of course maybe they talk about romance all the time on the MEA subforum, I don't go there so I don't know but it's not like this stereotype about the BSN being obsessed with romance is new.

Huh, I actually had the exact same thought-process about all that :D

giphy.gif

So many of the people who used to work at BioWare, who made the company into something I loved have already gone. I just don't see the huge casual audience that everyone wants to attract being interested in a long RPG type game and if EA is after the crowd who will disregard SP content to use only the MP mode then there's no point making a SP mode at all.

This makes me so sad. Bioware should try to attract the - you know - RPG audience. There aren't very many companies out there who make AAA RPGs, so it makes me very sad when they decide to appeal to the largest audience instead, because it dilutes what's left of the genre a bit. I guess that sounds melodramatic, but I'd hate to lose RPGs in favour of something that appeals to "the casual audience". I don't mind them having multiplayer (I actually love ME3MP), I just don't want them to compromise or dumb-down any aspects of singleplayer.

I guess all I can do is hope more people start liking RPGs

:)

Are you serious?! :o Love your cute drawings I've seen on here, it would be spectacular if you would do that  :wizard:  I'll have to PM you for sure. Thanks!

As for your posts, I understand wanting a clean slate after all this. But know this: Your posts may be lost into the ether, but they will not be forgotten =]

Wow, these forums are officially dead.

Pretty much.

The first obvious signs were the Twitter thread and Solas thread packing up and moving.

Member traffic here continues to drop, now half that of the larger lifeboat forums.

I'd post a tumbleweed, but with only days of existence the effort seems misplaced...

I feel like after a week or so, I moved on from the overwhelming grief and raaaegg!!1 and now I'm just in calm dgaf mode. Still a little sad and a little salty, but with everyone working to 1) save what we already have and 2) rebuild the community itself... that takes the sting out of it. A little bit.

I'll still cry a single manly tear on that last day though, huhu.

They banned images in signatures as soon as they created the new forum. So I'm not sure why people are surprised now.

This song captures so much in its tone and lyrics making it applicable to many situations:

Spring starts when a heartbeat's pounding
(the motivation to make a new beginning)

When the birds can be heard above the reckoning carts doing some final accounting
(the grousing created when pushed out of a comfort zone by hard reality)

Lava flowing in Superfarmer's direction
He's been getting reprieve from the heat in the frozen food section
(That's me!)

Don't tell me what the poets are doing
Don't tell me that they're talking tough
Don't tell me that they're anti-social
Somehow not anti-social enough, that's right
(words of the warders)

And porn speaks to its splintered legions
To the pink amid the withered cornstalks in them winter regions
(the depravity of the romance threads)

While aiming at the archetypal father
(selfless aspirations)
He said with such broad and tentative swipes why do you even bother?
(the weapon of maintaining wisdom's disguise)

Don't tell me what the poets are doing
Those Himalayas of the mind
(the **** posters)

Don't tell me what the poet's been doing
In the long grasses over time
(rehashing ideas)

Don't tell me what the poets are doing
On the street and the epitome of vague
(the words of those that can't read between the lines)

Don't tell me how the universe is altered
When you find out how he gets paid, all right
(thatsthekoan.jpg)

If there's nothing more that you need now
(the end is near)
The lawn cut by bare breasted women
(face those unrealistic expectations)
Beach bleached towels within reach for the women
Got to make it, that'll make it by swimming

(salvation and survival of the fittest)

Thanks for spending some time with us, Gord.

Is it time for goodbye posts already? But I don't have anything particularly poignant to say.

Few here remember me from back when I used this old username. I am a bit nostalgic about it.

I first got into BioWare's games with NWN, when I got super absorbed in the variety of classes and build options in the game. I first started posting on Bio boards with a few game mechanics questions, but mostly wasn't active aside from that. I started posting more when NWN2 came out (Obsidian game but hosted on Bio boards), and I became familiar with people like community manager Rob McGinnis, and mods dunniteowl and Selene and whatever Eurypterid's name was back then, and that one guy who was convinced I was posting spoilers when I wasn't and said I needed to start using my head for something other than a hat rack. They were all pretty great. The mods didn't seem to have the sort of trouble herding cats that we've seen recently.

Activity on those boards was pretty healthy after Mask of the Betrayer, but took a hit after Storm of Zehir and the botched rollout of the DLC campaigns. But with these poorly received events, the tenor of the discussion never got too nasty, to my perception- people just stopped showing up. Then it was announced that legacy Bio boards would be rolled into the new BSN, and activity on the NWN2 forum was pretty much decimated after that. But during that time I learned about DAO from some of the NWN2 forum regulars, and decided to give that a try when it came out.

Like with the Bio boards, I had a slow start on the BSN. I recognized a few users who made the jump from NWN2, but most were new to me. Eventually I became closer friends with some people on BSN than any I had made on the old boards, and we all had a pretty good time talking about how great everything about DAO was. Full-on fanboy mode back then.

Then DA2 happened. Things did indeed become 'cliquish' as people say. Perhaps as a consequence of my experience being a microcosm of many others, it wasn't enough for people to simply leave when the product no longer appealed to them. They stuck around for the friendships they made, and what else to do while sticking around other than keep arguing for your point of view about how terrible DA2 was? OTOH my 'clique' seemed to agree that DA2 was flawed and a step down from DAO, but felt that most of the criticisms were being exaggerated. A lot of nastiness all around over a simple disagreement about a video game, and the social attachment meant it lasted a long time, and perhaps created difficulty in terms of moderation as well.

But anyway, that's old drama and doesn't matter anymore except in its results, which were that the devs bailed, as did most of my old friends. The ME3 ending controversy was even worse and drove more people away, though I was mostly a spectator to that because ME wasn't my jam like DA was. So DA2 was effectively the death of the first BSN I knew, and ME3 simply the nail in the coffin.

The second BSN I knew was off-topic, and we all know what happened to that. But it still makes no sense what they did to it. The controversy over both of those games had long since simmered down, and the people who remained in OT were not at all an unmanageable lot or even particularly negative toward BW games, collectively. The most negative folks stayed in the BioWare game forums to keep the fight going; we went to OT to get away from all of the drama, and most of us were still regular customers for BW games. Nonetheless, we were evicted.

The BSN that remains, without the Lobby and without my old friends from before, is a BSN I barely know, and I largely post here feeling like a stranger now.

I am sad that a place with so much bitter nostalgia is being let go. I am sad that BioWare is giving up on a place my old friends gave up on years ago. I am sad that their last attempt at 'fixing' the place was to shut down OT. I am sad for those strangers to me whose own friendships are now being shown equal disregard.

Of course, that is not to say we were ever entitled to a place hosted by BioWare to discuss their products, or anything else, with fellow fans. I honestly don't even begrudge some of the actions being taken now despite so thoroughly mocking them. But it sucks to have something we all took for granted taken away without any real justification given. Aside from what can be inferred from history.

So I thought I would stick around till the end, but I've realized I don't have anything worthwhile left to contribute. I could thank the devs or mods for the games they've made or for when the place was less draining to talk earnestly about BioWare games, but none of them remain to hear it. And I don't plan on going out in a blaze of shenanigans over a dead forum, so... to the BSN I never really got to know. Bye.

Come to our forum if you want to weeb.
