Is it time for goodbye posts already? But I don't have anything particularly poignant to say.
Too early?
Too early?
Spoiler
Nope, not too early at all. Been feeling that way since the closure announcement.
Thx!
Pfft, kinda hard if people aren't around.
Here you go: I'll always help a friend in need during this Dark and Foul Age of Forum Closure. Tell me what troubles you.

Hello everyone.
You won’t recognize me because I’m yet another lurker leaving the shadows to voice my thoughts and feelings regarding the announcement of the forum’s closure.
The first time I ever played a BioWare game was back Jade Empire, back in 2005. (And yes, I was a lowly console player, with no cRPG background). I loved that immensely, but didn’t fall for BioWare completely until 2009. That was the year I played KOTOR for the first time. Even though classes had started, I remember playing it all the same whenever I had free time. It blew my mind and made me a full on BioWare fan.
Later that year, I played Dragon Age: Origins on the PS3 I got for Christmas. A few months later, I began lurking the BSN. Drinking in the enthusiasm from all of you. The humor, the lore debates, the tech support, modding tips, the chiming in from the devs.
Just following these forums from 2010-2014 were a big part of my life. They gave me a place to see the conversations of other BioWare fans and not feel as lonely.
In 2011, I bought ME2 for the PS3, ME and ME 2 for the 360, ordered the signature edition of DA II for the PS3. Plus I bought all the DLC for DA II and everything except Arrival for the 360 copy of ME 2. The next year, I did get ME 3 (though none of the paid DLC). I never posted to add my opinions about all those games, and now isn’t the time to get into every detail.
But I loved BioWare’s games and how they made me feel. I loved this community. Even after the fire storm in 2012, I still wanted to buy Inquisition. I haven’t yet due to life events leaving me without systems on which to play. I don’t know when but I want to someday get a current gen console or gaming PC and finally get Inquisition and Andromeda. Or I did.
Those life events I mentioned earlier kept me from closely following these forums, so I only learned of last year’s closure of the off topic section a month ago. And now I find out that BioWare wants their forums gone.
It’s a shame. I never participated in the conversations myself, but there were so many great had here. But BioWare would prefer to delete this place and focus on social media. To intentionally fragment their community while former employees high-five each other and disparage the fans (looking at you, Gaider and Priestly).
I doubt I’ll follow all of the offshoot boards everyone has made. Even if I figure which one to follow, I don’t that I’d manage to get myself to participate. I also doubt I’ll ever play Inquisition or DA 4 or Andromeda now.
I remember during the PR storms one of lines that trotted out was “the silent majority.” (Btw, how Nixonian.) As in, “but we can’t take what the fans here say seriously; the silent majority doesn’t speak up, and who knows what they think.” Well, I broke my ‘silence’ to say all of this. But mostly, what a shame.
Anyway, good luck everyone.
How much more? 5 days?
My DOI beta is updating again. ![]()
They banned images in signatures as soon as they created the new forum. So I'm not sure why people are surprised now.
Well, I did it say was obvious in hindsight, I just never really thought of it
But that's another advantage of the new forums, we can have image-signatures! ![]()
I haven't been posting as much as I thought I would and the forum is almost closing. I guess I should say goodbye before that happens.
Well....bye. lol! Seriously, I'm gonna miss all the randomness and silly debates that turn into poop slinging, and I'm gonna miss participating in those.
Especially those Mage/Templar debates. In the end it doesn't matter if we agreed or not, we all walked away with some darn good discussions.
Which we won't be able to have on facebook and Twitter.
I got nothing else to add because I think everyone said it all before and much better than I. I'll just leave this here for all of you.
I think it's 6 and half days. Oops I just said 5 and half days in the Alistair thread. ![]()
Not to us. Thanks to the media, the BSN is seen as a place filled with terrible people of bad attitudes/intentions that don't contribute anything outside of whining.
Apparently we're bad and we should feel bad. Again, David Gaider's tumblr read that it existed for him to talk to people who "wouldn't dare" come here.
Turns out when a major developer feels that way, people tend to follow that train of thought. Who'da thunk it?
So my 0 warning point ass has to pay for that reputation that I didn't contribute to.
Twilight fans probably wouldn't dare to come to BSN.
It made me very sad that we never got to see Elcor in action in ME3. Maybe we still will at some point? Can we have them in multiplayer?

To avoid length:
Spoiler
Wow, I'm glad I've impressed, especially next to the big names you listed
Thanks!
And less than a week now... It sucks
God, I'm tired of this random Inquisitor spam, so I'm somewhat happy that I won't see this anymore ![]()
Well shut my mouth!
Randomly logged on today after a very long absence and this is what I see...
Sad, as I met some wonderful human beings on the old forums, including one who has become a dear friend IRL. ![]()
Where has everyone decided to move to for discussion, or has everyone just decided to scatter their ashes across the interwebz and give up?
Can't help feeling they are doing this before releasing a new Mass Effect...
Just me thinking that? Alrighty then.
Well shut my mouth!

Examine the signatures of the posters here. My choice is in mine. An established site that preserves these forums, and allow you to continue discussions there. They not only cover BioWare, but also cover lots of other games, wikis and blogs. Over 55K members. Friendly atmosphere.

I suggest http://bsn.boards.net It is already populated with a number of familiar names from these forums and it now houses the DA and MEA twitter threads. If you would like to keep your post history I recommend going here: https://forum.biowar...r-post-history/
Fexelea has been working hard to save content and allow users to claim their accounts.
Forum closure still makes me sad. Like you, I have met some incredible people here that I am happy to call my friends.
Thanks guys, I signed up at both sites.
No problem. Cool. ![]()

If you guys are wondering what's up with these numbers then I'm just doing a little experiment here. Probably a bug. Nothing to worry about.
#6953/9136
Edit 1: There's something wrong with the thread post count. The post number should be #6953, but it currently shows up as #6947.
Edit 2: After refresh it's #6953. That's correct.
I thought it was a problem with some rodents, but it appears to be a forum bug.
Another conspiracy theory debunked. ![]()
*wears a new tin foil hat*
Maybe that helps. ![]()
Edit 3: The number is off again, but that's not a forum bug.
Ohhh that's just dirty. Dirty, dirty, dirty. Linking me to a Witcher thread like that. And I even saw some of my Witcher peeps over there. Not a lot, but a few. Starting to feel itchy. Your evil sir, just plain evil. ![]()
I'm going on vacation for two weeks and will be away from the internet starting tomorrow, so I will miss the actual end of this era.
So long to all of the people who I've met, had great discussions and debates with, and even those whom I disagree wholeheartedly, we may never see these games the same way, but we shared a passion for them, so that counts for something.
No matter what, I will never see these forums as toxic. I've traveled across the country to meet friends from the Bioware forum, I've formed a group of friends that I talk to almost every day out of these forums, and I know very well that the majority of posters on these forums have been cool people. With moderators who cared, and a little effort, this closure, and the bitterness and loss of goodwill that will come with it, could have been prevented. But alas.
So anyway, I will cherish the good memories of all three iterations of these boards, and hopefully see a lot of you posters elsewhere. I have not been very active outside of groups since DA:I came out, but I read these forums every day, so even if we haven't interacted, there's a good chance I'll miss your posts. Farewell to all.

Great post. You were on my FL for a long time. I wasn't active for a while either, but I always loved your posts.
Bye. ![]()
Edit: I saw that you joined a forum that I happen to like as well. Cool. ![]()
Talking about forum iterations. I think I remember 4. The soon to be purged current one, the old BSN, and the blue old forums. Wasn't there one before that?
God, I'm tired of this random Inquisitor spam, so I'm somewhat happy that I won't see this anymore
Glad I could help
Pictures are worth a thousand words after all. Here, have a "going away" present, courtesy of me:
