They'd probably be happy if they reversed it now;with less people here it'd be easier to control and fix. But they don't even come here anymore so nothing's being changed now.

That would be such a dirty trick that I halfway believe it'll happen.

When I said "depending" I meant whether they shut things off at midnight on the 25th (or earlier) or whether they shut it off at the end of the 26th.

Gotcha.

Yeah, I still don't know if I'm gonna bow out early or lurk till the bitter end. I'm probably gonna stick it out, though. I've got a lot of time invested here - feels like I should see it through.

I doubt it'll be that on point, just whenever someone hits the switch.

The earliest would be 87 hours hence, assuming midnight MST.

I highly doubt they will change decision of closing forum down. It is really a shame, big shame.

I know many informations are now saved, transfered to other places, but without those people

who spend their time to minimalise the damage it will all be lost. Years of posting will be purged

and it really make me sad.

They would have an annoyed lot of people to deal with if they reversed it. Or people trying to get help on here after being sent by EA would be shouting into the void.

...Years of posting will be purged...

Over 20 million posts, is not a small number.

Assuming you took 5 seconds to skim each post, that would take a person 4 years to read (without rest).

Around 2 billion words of text, I reckon, or like reading the 'The Lord of the Rings' trilogy 4,000 times over.

(that's not saying every post was a gem, but it was a great deal of talk...)

Gem or not, it all has value. It's as close to a definitive record of these fandoms as you're gonna get. Those millions of posts represent so much time and investment for hundreds - more likely thousands - of posters. A whole lot of fanthought, fan happenings, newsworthy events (much as they'd like to forget the ME3 brouhaha, it's a notable event and this place was ground zero), dev pronouncements, primary lore sources - it's all irreplaceable history, and it's so precarious. None of it is physically saved anywhere, so it falls to Bioware to conserve it. And they're trashing it.

It's a damn shame to lose it all like this.

I created a Facebook account back in the day primarily to participate in a 'present your DA:O character' contest from a gaming news site, and I won a ME2 Collector's Edition in the process. Good times! ^_^

I totally forgot about this. Facebook is the only site, of the "alternatives" offered, where I have account.......... because Bejeweled Blitz refused to work correctly without it.

Even with people working to save as much as they can, it's all still "lost", in a way. The easy-to-find, centralized location we have on official forums means so much more exposure to the discussions, guides, fixes, etc. that are stored here. They may still exist other places after the closure, but they will still be lost to many-a-poster who would have found them here and won't find a replacement site.

And of course, there are also many posters who, for many reasons, are calling it quits with these forums. We're losing them, too. Their voices, their presence, their contributions... and friendships. All of that, combined of course with the insult to the fans that is this closure and the reasons for it (as well as some former dev comments), means I will still be sad, disenfranchised, and angry about this even with archiving and replacement sites.

And to those who will go down with the ship rather than take a lifeboat, we'll see you on the other side, as they say.

*Salute*

This is so stupid, why destroy such a huge community for the sole reason of them being scared of backlash when a game gets released? It's as if they want an excuse to make a **** game. The great thing about this forum is that it allows you to personally express your opinion and profile with others and get information which is sometimes difficult to find. Well done Bioware, my first real disappointment with the company that'll find difficult to comprehend henceforth.

To me this is just really bad choice for bioware to shut down such large community based forum because they're losing one big thing that they have in their arsenal of social media weaponry they're saying you can still talk to us on Twitter Facebook and all those other social media outlets but they have limits on what you can do as a community forum they were not designed as a for a bass community where people can discuss stuff about this and that Facebook and Twitter were designed to be a short social media typing like oh my God look at this all holy crap what the hell is that type moments they were not designed to be forms for long winded discussions and if Bioware closing down The forums out of fear of the backlash they may get with the games or they are they are not on the forums as much then to me that just seems like an easy excuse to shut down The forums I mean yes we've had a lot of idiots acting like spoiled little brat spewing stupid things on The forums hurling abuse and all that type of stuff and it's made the forums a bit like a battleground but if forum Community and Bioware Worked together try and find out what needs to be improved what needs to be out at what needs to be removed what's the best way to make this forum a place where people can have discussions about the games that we love and respect then I see no reason why this forum cannot go on because it is one of the best forums I've been on and The fact is if you gonna closedown vast majority of forums for the vast majority of of your game franchises and only leave one operational to me it's a bit of Saying to The fans of The five franchises That we value your feedback that we value the community but we are closing down the forums for the five franchises but we leaving what open for another franchise it a bit of a double standard when you say one thing and do another thing

Depending on what they do, I guess we're down to 3 or 4 days left. Kumbaya and all that.

I don't particularly care about this forum's demise, but I won't miss the chance to follow your lead and spam animal pics...

A lot is right. Stalkers, really. I've tried to draw out this type of toxic activity over the last week or so. Perhaps it has shown to some.

It's a shame that this type of behavior contributed to the forum being shut down and even more disgusting that those that do such try to shift blame to BioWare. This sickness runs deep in those that have it and the realization difficult to accept when the reward is social acceptance for those that may lack it or thrive on it.

Yet you are doing what you claim to want to draw out.

You aren't posting to contribute, to join in the discussions, you are posting in the effort to get a specific reaction. Which is exactly what trolls do.

Do you honestly believe that the majority of people on this forum are 'toxic'? If so how on Earth would you get to over 10,000 posts on a forum filled with people and conversations that you don't like?

The problem is that Bioware are to blame on this occasion. It is Bioware who have made the choice to close their forum, it's not the majority of people who have been polite and respectful on this site. Yes people are getting angry as they've created friendships and community on here, yet Bioware are closing the forum because they can't be bothered with it because of the, admittedly, overly harsh reactions of a few idiots.

Microsoft aren't closing their official Xbox forum and any 'name' and developer stopped visiting there long ago.

I'm genuinely surprised that you can't understand the reaction that some people are having to the closure of the Bioware forum, when you seem to be an intelligent and rational person.

On the forums? No, but this thread is another matter. While I believe Bioware is incorrect on closing the boards, I can understand why.
