This is sad, but expected.

No Forums at all though? Is there a Gamestudio out there that doesn't have some sort of social platform?

We are still very committed to actively engaging our community. Through both social media, at live events, as well as through community run sites, we will continue to solicit feedback and listen to what our players are saying.

Our community has always be a cornerstone of how and why we make games, and we will continue to engage and listen to what you are saying.

Comes as no surprise. This place has fallen so far and Bioware always decides to just nuke something instead of actually fix it.

Well, it was a pleasure for a good many years. Shame I had hope that Bioware would do some good here. Guess its best to put it out of its misery.

What is "actively engaging our community" exactly? I'm just wondering because that used to happen here and then it didn't.

I'm sorry but...what?

You're going to pass off handling a community to the community?

So does that mean you're engaging with the community or not? Are you going to somehow guarantee your presence or even acknowledgement of anything when you can simply ignore the site?

Hell you can ignore tweets as a company easily enough, so why would you peruse an entire other site when you already have one at your fingertips?!

What about those who aren't plugged into social media 24/7 like a drone?

What about those who can't come to your live events but could talk about them when they could on a forum with people?

It's rather sad, but thank you for the information.

Though, I prefer Bioware blog with announcements to the forums with the other community members.

Well guys, it's been a good run.. I'm not happy about it, but there's always gonna be https://www.reddit.com/r/masseffect/ and https://www.reddit.com/r/dragonage/

BTW, if anyone is interested and can work in a team to manage a Bioware fans 3rd party community/forum... hit me up on Twitter @A91G as I have a few ideas.

The benefit of a forum is it's accessible to less socially engaged segments of your market. We don't all have big online social networks.

BSN (and its predecessor, the BioBoards) have been my primary (and often only) social network since 2001.

I have no idea where I'm going to get news or argue design with people now.

Also, someone needs to archive all the DAO mods from the project section of old BSN.

While I relish the idea of so many BSNers being sent scrambling back to Tumblr, I'm concerned about where I'll go to find out the game mechanics. Since Bioware typically doesn't understand their own games, I've had to go to users here for an explanation. Thank you Peddro, Cyonan, and a bunch of you others for all the help.

What is "actively engaging our community" exactly? I'm just wondering because that used to happen here and then it didn't.

You are absolutely right on that point. As the years have gone by we have been spending more time on other sites and spaces and less time on our own boards. This was unfair to those of you who use our forums.

We took a hard look at how we were engaging our community, and made the difficult decision to focus on fostering conversations in these new spaces, and to close our forums.

I have personally never heard of these two sites.

So just goes to show Bioware's solution is already a failed one.

This. I don't care if the devs are not active in the forum. This was still the best place for fans all over the world to come to together, discuss the games they like and give suggestions on the Feedback&Suggestions forums.

No surprise.

I'm just glad it didn't went down like the "12 minutes to shutdown" Off Topic fiasco.

No interest in moving to those other "community" plattforms, though. Don't use Twitter, Facebook is just good for posting news and Reddit downvotes anything but praise quicker than you can say "censorship".

I will certainly miss the 100 of pages long discussions, even if it was mostly with the same people.

Was nice knowing you fellas!

That and have at least a place where a nuanced discussion and critique could happen.

Not all Bioware will get is 10,000+ tweets saying their game is crap if they don't like a small aspect of it.

Because that's totally better than hiring some extra people and having a department dedicated to the forums and another to the social media sites.

Hell, this could be solved by getting a few interns to do it!

Look at the thread in the ME3 section about the things people have discovered. That is a great thread for folks to see what people have found and then go find it themselves during a playthrough.

There's even one thread for what did you do in ME and one for what did you do in DA. Both good threads for people to post their playthrough and even ask questions about the game. This forum is, well soon to be was, a great place to get answers and information. Oh well.

And not the decision to fix this forum? To improve it? Foster new, productive, positive discussion within it? Visit more often in an effort to improve relations?

I'm finding it hard to believe that the decision was difficult considering Bioware has a track record of killing things that need work.

1. ME1's Mako

2. ME2's Hammerhead

3. Mass Effect Deception(still no rewrite)

4. Bioware Bazaar(still no global equivalent)

5. BSN social features

6. The Off Topic section

And I'm sure there's loads more I could go on about. I'm tired of Bioware giving up on things. I remember being told to hit 100K posts by David Hulegaard when I was sending messages to all the Biodevs I could upon hitting 50K posts. To think that I can't do that now because this forum is in the state that its in is sad.

Worse, it doesn't have to be. But it will be. Its going to peter out and this forum's last few days are going to be a sad miserable echo of its previous heights.

As this forum's top poster, I've never been more embarrassed.

Huge thanks from French readers, it was the only place to speak IN OUR LANGUAGE about your games, to find some help or to discuss about lore

It's a pity, and it's a very bad choice

Ahaha priceless comedy right there.
