Bioware have been actively participating and paying attention to the new communities?
Huh, wonder what stopped them from doing it here? They had plenty of opportunities in the last two years...
One dev explained it, but I'm way too tired to find the where and when. In this forum, they are often treated as "BioWare", not as people. They are viewed as moderators by some, developers by others, authority figures by still others. The reality is that none of them are mods, excluding Conal's powers. They wield no powers or authority here, and generally not at BioWare, either.
The pressure of dealing with that "BioWare" tag by your name is pretty major, at times, on these forums. My explanation won't do it justice, but his certainly did. The devs on the new BSN have none of that. They are just one of us, hanging out to talk about the games, or whatever the off-topic forum had to offer. It's a much better environment, thanks to past experiences here.
As the saying goes, the few ruin it for us all. That's basically what has happened here. Not all of the devs wanted to bail; but the pressure of being the only one around, or one of two or three, is pretty high. It was easier when the relationship was more even and shared, as in the good old days.
I hope that's not too rambling. I'm getting fatigued from my all day BSN camping expedition.
