I don't use Instagram, Tumblr or anything else. Facebook is only useful for being recognized on birthdays. Where shall I exchange my experiences, when MEA is going to be released?
It sounds, that the forum is going to be closed, because operating this side costs too much and isn't really economic.^^

I don't blame you Bioware/EA, BSN has mutated into SJW central over the past years. There is some good discussion, but BSN generally has a terrible reputation and is a magnet for all kinds of weirdos and trolls.
TIME TO PURGE THE SYSTEM!!!
See you on the other side. Kapilux, signing off.
PURGE!

Has this been addressed by Conal yet?
Seemed to be one of the given reasons for closing the forum down but no one comes to the forum these days expecting to hear from a dev. Those who do keep coming back do so for the community of players.
I don't think so, and I doubt you will see him address it. I can't blame him. I'm sure neither the idea to close the forum nor that absolutely absurd lie about why was his idea. He's just been told "here's the lie, sell it."

I certainly don't envy the messenger in this situation.

I feel bad for him, he seems like a pretty solid guy from what I've seen of him and he's handled himself well today. He's obviously towing the company line with his responses but you can't blame him for that and he's been patient throughout this discussion.

So as long as you are happy, who cares about the fans being happy right? What kind of entertainment company wants their customers to be entertained?
The nature of my work is that I am not really exposed to "what people want", so not sure what you were hoping for from me.
I simply stated where I had gone, to those who were curious and why I did what I did ![]()
Plus the general nature of my posts were very technical, and not Person X doesnt like Feature Y.
I can understand your frustration and the 'cheekiness' of your post, but I am probably the least productive person to direct it at.

As someone who has joked about living on the Dragon Age forums since 2009, I'm pretty crushed by this. The forums haven't always been perfect, but some of my favourite DA memories have been on this forum - and I'm deeply saddened by the idea that I won't get to watch the development of DA4 or the Sekrit IP with the community I've been part of for seven years

As one of the Dev's that have more or less moved off of here, I am still sad.
I recognize some names but see new ones as well, I wish you all well.
Godspeed, Bryan. And thanks for your and your colleague's support for our MP problems and questions. It really helped for enjoying the game more.

I've got to say that I am super disappointed in this. I know there are other places like twitter, reddit, DeviantArt, etc., but THIS is the place where it all comes together.
- Find a really cool fan art? It gets brought to attention here.
- Come up with an interesting theory for discussion? Create a new thread here and get involved in a discussion.
- Really into MP and want to find others who are like you? Come to the forums, meet fellow fans, and exchange gamertags.
- Did you find some friends on here you can relate to that was sparked by discussions? Create a discussion group just for your friends about anything.
- New information about the game? Someone will post a thread, and you know you can come here and find it--no hunting around different mediums.
- And not to mention the extremely handy twitter threads that condense everything together. I felt like I really got to know people behind the scenes, and it gave me a better appreciation for how the creative process works and how demanding the jobs can actually be.
Besides all that, I really liked having kind of a direct line to Bioware. They have on occasion asked for feedback, and even when they haven't, there are threads dedicated to giving feedback on certain things. Bioware have said themselves that they look at the feedback from the community. What better places than being able to give feedback on their official forum? I certainly can't do this on twitter or Facebook, and I'm sure anything I say would get lost on reddit.
I just can't believe that the company isn't going to have an official forum. It seems counter-intuitive. I think they would want a place where people can come together and talk about their games. It seems like an odd decision for a company to make, and I really hope they reconsider.

The point that's being made, though, is that that's not the purpose of these forums. The forums no longer serve the purpose of "allow one corporate entity to speak with a large number of individuals and vice versa", so the fans' ability to communicate is basically a non-issue.
Should it be a non-issue though? For me at least, talking to other fans is a big part of the value of these games. Its why Bioware games are basically the only AAA games that tempt me to pay release day prices. And I bought Citadel and Trespasser because of the good word of mouth on these forums.
I mean, I'm not in a position to know if many people are like me, but as far as myself as a customer goes, this forum has commercial value to Bioware.

Despite not being an old-timer, I'm actually disappointed by this. This was a fun place to discuss Bioware-stuff and more importantly it was a place to discuss Bioware-stuff efficiently. It involves lots of vitriol too, but who cares, banter is fun.
Okay, now, obviously Bioware's way of justifying their decision is nil. Nothing. Zero. "we care for the community, so get lost".
Obviously you can't discuss on twitter or youtube or facebook or tumblr. And reddit is too much of an insta-ban echochamber -I won't even start on neogaf, EEEWW-. None of the above sites have the format to facilitate deep discussion, with clear structure and a useful archive.
So , that means, obviously Bioware doesn't want their games to be discussed and analysed anymore. They just want buzz. Mostly positive noise around whatever new trailer or artwork they release.
This really feels like an executive/marketing decision, doesn't it? Something like "well, we want social media to promote our new products and generate hype, forums dwell too much on previous games and bring up too many criticisms, this doesn't really suit our business model".
Let that sink in. Bioware doesn't want their fans to have deep discussions about their games. And they want their fans to be elsewhere. They don't want to even be associated with them.
One can't help but feel they were really not looking forward to fan reactions about their upcoming games, so they silenced us in advance.

Oh my god, I hadn't even thought about that. No experiencing the DA4 hype with my friends, no creating fan threads... I'm legit crying and I'm not even sorry about it.
This is awful.

Working on it. Hopefully it will find a place somewhere in the near future. It would be a real shame for it get lost. Restoring it's predecessor is still an on-going process for me mainly because I didn't get to save the original thread back in 2011. Not making the same mistake twice.

It would have been my first time being able to post about a new game. I lurked up until Trespasser but have been here since 2011. Now that's not going to happen.

They're preparing their shield and hidey hole.
Anyway, I drop by to read the various subject discussion on the games, see people's fantastic creations in art, etc, have fun reading other people's adventures in the games and writing up my own. Connect with the devs? I hardly bothered. See what Bioware's up to? If I feel like it.
I'm going to miss the people I've been hanging around with recently.

I'm sad to see Bioware think that forum and SNS are the exact same thing, and that one can be replaceable by the other.
Forums allow a space of expression that SNS will never be able to provide, not on this scale, not with that many people.
Really, I'm just sad, and I'm not even a regular user for months. But I loved the fact Bioware kept on having official forums, because forums have always been, to me, the best way to connect with others, and express my thoughts to their full extent and potential.
So yeah, it's just sad. SNS will never manage to connect us as much as this forum ever did. It's a shame, but it is what it is.

I don't disagree with ya. That's why I'm bummed by the news. But I guess in my case it just doesn't surprise me that Bioware the entity does not consider the presumably small fraction of the playerbase that is the "community" to be a poor use of resources.Should it be a non-issue though? For me at least, talking to other fans is a big part of the value of these games. Its why Bioware games are basically the only AAA games that tempt me to pay release day prices.
