While I relish the idea of so many BSNers being sent scrambling back to Tumblr, I'm concerned about where I'll go to find out the game mechanics. Since Bioware typically doesn't understand their own games, I've had to go to users here for an explanation. Thank you Peddro, Cyonan, and a bunch of you others for all the help.

There's always gamefaqs, they actually discuss game mechanics there, none of this focus on romance creepdom or people acting like they're fighting for real life social issues against a surrogate klan(the templars).

Wtf? This is a terrible decision for a lot of reasons, many of which have already been outlined by other posters.

We said the same thing after they closed Off Topic. We literally told them the forum would get worse as a result.

And what do you know!

You are absolutely right on that point. As the years have gone by we have been spending more time on other sites and spaces and less time on our own boards. This was unfair to those of you who use our forums.

We took a hard look at how we were engaging our community, and made the difficult decision to focus on fostering conversations in these new spaces, and to close our forums.

This doesn't make any sense.

I can't say I understand this decision. It's not like every fan can visit all those places, world is big place and Bioware surely hasn't came nor is coming to my country. Also, this kinda stops whole community that has been formed here. I wonder if there will be fan-led alternative.

There are fan-led alternatives already.

Communities such as /r/dragonage and /r/masseffect have 55k and 95k subscribers. I'm going to take a stab in the dark but I'm guessing they see avenues like those to be established enough to be a reliable source of player feedback, while being able to get rid of the costs associated with running a message board.

Conversations? What conversations? None of the mentioned plattforms actually encourages conversations.

Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Tumblr and Facebook are totally onesided affairs. You post something and everything else is a comment that nobody cares about.

Reddit is the only platform that I can even remotly accept as some kind of alternative and even then it's rather limited compared to an actual forum.

I'm not sure if I should be angry or sad that BioWare once again sees a problem and decides to erase everthing instead of fixing it.

I invite everyone to join these forums made by Vroom a year back, after the lounge has been shut down.

There are plenty of other options available, like some members here already mentioned.

I'm gonna SERIOUSLY miss you dude. Over the years I always saw you as one of the big posters here. Notable face, notable personality, notable ideas. I'll always cherish the old days.

I suppose I'll need to learn how to use reddit.

Also, I'm @Sylvius_the_Mad on Twitter. Same avatar and everything.

Twitter is mindless praise for literally nothing.

Facebook is far more negative than this place ever was.

Instagram is just for images, it doesn't even count.

Youtube won't have Bioware responding to comments, also its far easier for trolls.

Tumblr is an echo fest of SJWs that will love/hate Bioware for literally anything.

The BSN on the other hand while never being perfect has provided Bioware with so much inspiration and ideas for their games that were actually implemented. Its value was high. Quite high. But apparently that opinion isn't shared by those who count.

Starting to wonder why I was so excited after hitting 50,000 posts.

Instantly followed. And you don't have to learn how to use Reddit. Reddit's format is ugly. I've used it sparingly. Its not the best place to hold these discussions.

If this is about money then okay, it is what it is.

But if it's about how toxic the community can be, couldn't that have been dealt with years back?  Either by BioWare having more interaction with the forum or through the community?   It's just such a shame to burn the whole thing and walk away, there's a lot of great stuff here.

Andromeda and the resources available to the ppl playing it are really going to suffer.

See, that's one upside of the loss of BSN. I'll have to stop ignoring literally everywhere else.

Keep quoting this and add any links that could be used to salvage what remains of the BSN community.
Spread the links on social medias as well.
