That and those places are aware of the imminent closure of the forum and are actually preparing to ban people who come over there.

Which is completely backward to me. I guess according to some people, expanding your audience isn't a good thing anymore?

Not to us. Thanks to the media, the BSN is seen as a place filled with terrible people of bad attitudes/intentions that don't contribute anything outside of whining.

Apparently we're bad and we should feel bad. Again, David Gaider's tumblr read that it existed for him to talk to people who "wouldn't dare" come here.

Turns out when a major developer feels that way, people tend to follow that train of thought. Who'da thunk it?

So my 0 warning point ass has to pay for that reputation that I didn't contribute to.

I really like the ME subreddit but it's not a place for constructive discussion about the games because of the upvote/downvote system. And hell, I'm lurking there for years now and haven't ever seen a developer interacting with the redditors.

No. I've recommended the VSN already for people who want to keep talking to users from the BSN. The VSN isn't fit for Bioware though. The VSN is for off topic stuff.

What I'm referring to are other locations that actually discuss Bioware game subjects like DA and ME. They have low opinions of the BSN and don't want us "polluting" their spaces with our "toxicity". Thanks David Gaider.

I'd rather a den of toxicity over a padded echo chamber any day.

I don't want to post gushes over how cute some fanart is, how much I love Isabella's sass

Well, you could create other boards within VSN for discussions of specific games same as here but I expect moderation would be no easy task.

Agreed 50%. I don't want to post gushes about all that nonsense, but I also wouldn't prefer a den of toxicity to it. Because I see both as toxic.

Unending praise is toxic praise. And Bioware gets that from people who get all rosy cheeked and lovey dove about everything they put out. I can't stand watching people like that talk about the trailers and such like they're perfect and have no flaws because the fact is, they always do.

What I want is a place where we can critically analyze and discuss these things, positive and negative, with the developers and do our best to contribute however we can to the improvement of the products we purchase.

Which is what this place was for.

Damn, this will be awkward. This forum is on my bookmarks bar, and I'd like to keep it there. Why close it down now? Do you have any idea how many contributions fans and members of this forum have made? I don't think you understand the extent of the amount of information that will be lost when the forums are shut down. People come here for help, information, and to share their thoughts. You take that away, and you are literally destroying the games you've created as well. What's the point of playing an RPG if you can't share your adventure and thoughts with the community?

Gaider talking toxicity isn't as bad as Priestly but it's still pretty ironic.  Gaider pretty much outright trolled in a lot of his posts.  I've heard some people who met him IRL say that he's usually sarcastic or otherwise not serious but as we all know, tone doesn't carry of text.  To anyone who doesn't know him, it looks like he's just trolling.  Big surprise that people were "toxic" to him.

With all the bad decisions that Bioware made lately I'm starting to get curious, in a morbid way, how ME:A is going to turn out. On the other hand with the BSN gone I don't know if I'll remember / be interested enough to check.

                                                                                     <<<<<<<<<<(0)>>>>>>>>>>

First don't pre-order. That, to me, is just risky. The game could be a lemon, at launch.

EA IT forums on ME:A should give you an indication if the game is a bug fest. Other than that, who knows....

Perhaps Bio doesn't want us to connect and discuss the game's problems... real ones.. after it comes out.... like the dumb down combat system that my gut tells me it is so. And, I bet the next videos will have lots of cinematic marketing.... but the game itself will be lackluster.... so says the "tea leaves" that I'm trying hard to read correctly.

I'm not a moderator on the VSN, nor do I have any sort of administrative control within it. Probably because of my post count and history here. I'm cool with everyone there, but if I had say the power of moderation, other people, those I'd be moderating, may take issue with me.

Being top poster is a pain in the ass. People think I suck just for having the post count I do. I've been accused of working for Bioware behind the scenes, loving everything they do unconditionally, secretly being paid off by the company, undermining others, thinking I'm superior to everyone else, etc etc all because I'm #1 in post count. Its madness.

God forbid I actually have any sort of control. I make an innocent call and I'm sure I'd be descended upon like vultures picking at a carcass. Not worth it. The VSN is better off with me as just a regular poster. But the suggestion could be made to the mods there.

I think you can paste the CD-KEY from steam to origin and you can play the game from there. The DLC is linked to your EA account IIRC.

Well thanks for the heads up, I'll be sure to check it out this weekend. My main concern is that I have promotional stuff that isn't part of the store released DLC line, and they axed the Eastern-European regionalisation of Lair of the Shadow Broker, which made it unavaliable here, so I only managed to run it on my version of Mass Effect 2 with ini and sysreg tweaks. I wonder if I should download my entitlements manually and treasure them somewhere. I hope it won't come to that, seriously, **** DRM.

Yeah well thanks to that I'm at the head of that nasty place where the worst of Bioware's fans go to talk endlessly about this or that nonsense that rational people don't care about.

Or so the story goes across the internet.

Its probably why you never see forum posters from here invited to sit and speak at conventions or whatever with the cosplayers and such.

I've said plenty about the negativity of this place before but now that it's ending I've been thinking about all the great people that I knew I'd like IRL but never took the time to really get to know and I guess now I never will. I guess I thought you guys would always be here and I took you for granted :( I'm sorry about that and for being stingy with my likes...

The thing i don't like about Reddit is that people don't have faces there. Everyone is a no one.

Here we use a pic of our favorite character, our name is visible and we have our signatures.

Here we know each other and it's easier to interact. I always would be super happy when i saw a member that i really like in the thread and this is something we don't get on Reddit.

Hug me everyone <3

You should totally play Tropico 4, and link it to your FaceBook account You can post ingame events, such as how you assasinated a protester and sent the remaining family members to labour camp. :wizard:

I'm not kidding, you can actually do that. What a time to be alive.
