We expected this. Guess it's time for me to pack up and head over to CDPR forums.

I live to serve with Gomez gifs, my friend! You're one of the best people on the BSN, and even though we're on tumblr I'll sure miss seeing you here.

As are you, my friend. It's just not the same on tumblr as having our safe little haven of dwarfdom here. :(

Be quiet. EA might hear you and decide CDPR smells of money. EA just might try and buy CDPR if they catch a scent.

I feel like bioware is going to release me:a release 1 item pack style dlc and ea will bring out the chopping block.

I've collected a bunch of N7 memorabilia... and now I feel a hole in my heart right next to the one from recently getting dumped by a girl I was setting the stage to propose to...

The hole from the latter was being filled with the former too

T_T

Damn it **** the digestive track. Just mix the red lyrium with ryncol and inject it directly into my jugular.

Its the erasing the archives more than anything else that makes me certain it IS a financial decision and they're lying. If the cost isnt the problem and they just want to communicate in ways other than the forums, theres absolutely no reason to purge the archives.

We aren't talking about struggling devs on kickstarter, but EA. They can afford it.

Looking forward to that one too. In the meantime, Mankind Divided releases next month.

Yeah, that comes out a few days before the plug is pulled on this site so at least I'll have something to give me joy when that happens.

Following on from my previous post I'd just like to add that the timing of this announcement was a nice touch.

A Friday afternoon.  Really?  Are your PR team reading "How to Bury Bad News For Dummies"?

Sure, EA can afford just about anything. The question is how much they're funding BW.

Cyberpunk 2077 looks fantastic, I'm not into fantasy games so Cyberpunk will be my first CDPR game.

I don't understand why they can't maintain presence on here and on other social medias like CDPR does. And on top of that they answer every single fan mails and messages, which I thought was a great way to build die hard fans. And given that even if Bioware is not that active here anymore, they still have tons of die hard fans. Just think about what happens if they are more vigilant.

Anyway, I am waay too hyped for MEA right now not to buy it on day1, and I hope they will at least open up a new forum for me to gush/critic when it comes out.

Still, I am very sad to see my home (DAO forum) go.

I've been worried since the EA Play trailed shot to some random developer resizing a space rock.

I hope I'm wrong. I hope ME:A is amazing and wonderful. But Bioware hasn't inspired confidence in the game and I've seen the same sentiment all over the internet.

I'm still proud of that thread. I'm gonna miss you jokers.

Its probably one of the best threads on the forum. Its not as busy when you first created it, but it still gets a post or two each week. A lot of the stuff in that thread can't be found anywhere else

If this is about the toxicity getting too much for you, I would understand but still consider it a bad move. This was a place for fans to just talk to each other about the games we like or dislike, and most of us didn't come here to talk to the staff. I know I haven't.

David Gaider said on his Twitter that closing down the BioWare forums was overdue. I'll never spend a penny on anything he touches.

If they're are cutting things like a forum, then it's because they have no faith in the company anymore. The rest of the tale is well know. Google bullfrog.

Back when moderation shut down the Lobby an alternative was made, so that those who desired to could continue to enjoy the Lobby and keep in contact with their friends.I never made a massive push in terms of trying to advertise beyond the regulars of the Lobby, because I figured it wouldn't interest everyone and that word would get out to the friends of those that joined anyway, however, since this very forum approaches its final hour, I feel like I should make some attempt of raising awareness toward its existence. So if you wish, then feel free to join the VSN which has 200 plus members and counting: http://vroomvroom.freeforums.net/

I'm wishing everyone the best! The conversations that I've had on here were some of the best that I've ever had on the internet and I'm sad to see this place go, but I am not surprised.

I'm honestly incredibly disappointed and somewhat angry about this. I know my post count isn't high, but I lurk quite a bit and highly enjoy these forums. The Bioware fandom has helped me through some tough times and remains one of my most passionate fandoms, and it's literally the only one at this point that still maintained a centralized forum for fans to connect on. Outsourcing that to 3rd party sites that aren't designed for in-depth interaction like forums are seems incredibly thoughtless on the part of the Bioware team.

I really wish you would reconsider this decision. The stated basis seems to be that because dev<->fan interactions on the forum are low, the forum no longer serves a purpose. But fan<->fan interactions are just as important, if not (in my opinion) more so. Forums serve a specialized purpose that other social media like twitter, reddit and tumblr not only don't meet, but aren't designed to meet in the first place. Those sites are designed for brief, immediate interaction and often lack historical consistency (i.e. people that hang around long enough to remember such & such user or things like which thread from the past would be useful for a new comer to read). Their readiblity is not geared towards the long conversations that forums like this can maintain. I mean, have you ever tried to read a popular thread on reddit? It's impossible to really keep track of most conversations on there. Twitter can barely hold conversations and certainly not ones with complex ideas that can't be boiled down into 140 characters, and tumblr is a nightmare and quite literally impossible to hold real, cohesive threaded conversations on.

What I'm saying is that, for all its faults and trolls and ridiculousness, shutting down the forums is a loss to the community and I truly believe it to be much more of a disservice to the fans than the lack of developer interaction. I really hope you'll reconsider this move. Or at the very least leave us the Mass Effect Andromeda forum so that fans can have a centralized place to talk before and after the games release.
