Allan, I understand where you're coming from when it comes to how fans interact with you and the other devs. I think Twitter and other outlets are probably better for that, and I don't blame any dev for not sticking around when the BSN gets hateful.
But where, oh where, are we supposed to talk to each other? To other fans? There's no place like this forum.
I hope someone can archive the place before it gets destroyed.
This point keeps getting made again and again by various people and none of the official Bioware people here to seem to care. NOTHING can replace these official forums as a place for fans to gather and talk to each other. THAT is the main reason why we're all so upset.
If you people don't give a damn about the community that the fans have built for themselves, then just say so. Be honest. Please don't try to offer platitudes that you actually care when by your very actions you're showing that you don't.
Showing that you care would be to acknowledge that you are killing this community, even if it doesn't change anything in the end.
I'm sure there are some Bioware folks who are also unhappy with the decision, and that's very nice and appreciated that they feel that way. But offering up these excuses, over and over again, about communicating with the devs, when it has been mentioned that that is not the primary reason we come here, is starting to be insulting.
[edit]
I'll also add that IF this is the signal of the end of Bioware, or either of their two main IP franchises, that adds another level of insult to this whole fracas. All the talk about communicating with the devs will have been total BS because there will be no more devs to communicate with.
Again, we want honesty and clarity in this time of uncertainty.
