" fantastic communities in places like tumblr"really?
Cassandra says it best

Lol, this is so wrong, it's almost funny.
I'm gonna leave agreeing with that.
Take care y'all ![]()
I had over 20,000 posts
I had over 8000!!!
Wauw... we won't even have time to talk about Mass Effect: Andromeda here. That was actually something I was looking forward to.
I love this forum especially because of how easy it is to use and the people that are on it.
So, that makes the moderators and the entire webpage team. Plus no longer having to pay for the domain and bandwidth/server.
How much money must a community be worth to offset the cost of having to actually cultivate one (cultivate being loosely used in light of recent BioWare commitment in fostering a positive and communicative interaction climate)?
Translation: All of our recent games have met with criticism and we can't let anybody see that so in order to curtail future criticism we are silencing everyone
Divide and conquer. BW knows full well social media encourage isolated personal posts that can be easily dismissed.
You know, it's pretty insulting to say this is about developers no longer reading here, as if Bioware is doing us all a favor by closing the forums. As if there's not 1000+ page threads of users solely talking to each other.
This is a serious question. Where are people supposed to go for technical support for BioWare games and things like Dragon Age Keep? Twitter is not even close to realistic for that.
My other big concern is when playing old games I often find answers to questions on old posts here. Will those no longer be available?
That said, we're probably less valuable consumers. When we like something, we don't tell as many people.Very much this
Ah, I've hit my quota of positive votes for the day.
Me too, for the first time ever.
Remember when Sim kept spamming posts in the anime thread?
He had the most posts in that thread.
In like a week.
I wonder if doing this will effect sales for Andromeda. People frustrated BSN is closing so they take their frustrating out by not buying their game. I doubt it.

Me too.
The BioWare forums are where I truly became “a fan”. It’s where I was able to interact with other fans, share ideas, be kept informed on game development, and form a deeper love with BioWare products. I’ll put it this way: without the forums having been there, there probably wouldn’t be a BioFan today. I’m very disappointed in the decision to close down the forums. Sure there are other social media platforms for fans, but none that quite offered the same level of organized development information or longer-term common interest discussion. If fans wanted to get together to share their love/ideas/theories/etc for a character (like Cullen for example) the forums offered a great venue to discuss the character over a longer period of time. The forums served, for many, as an easy medium to navigate and learn details about upcoming games they were interested in. Other social media outlets offer this, but in a much more limited or time sensitive manner. While the developers themselves may not visit the forums often, it is a well-used venue for the BioWare community.
Could we set up a /r/biowaretweets maybe? That way it'd be an easy way to stay informed without having to dig through mountains of fan art.
You are absolutely right on that point. As the years have gone by we have been spending more time on other sites and spaces and less time on our own boards. This was unfair to those of you who use our forums.
We took a hard look at how we were engaging our community, and made the difficult decision to focus on fostering conversations in these new spaces, and to close our forums.
I'm sorry but that's a complete cop-out. People don't need the Devs or community managers to be totally active. What they need is a forum for fans of their games to discuss and criticise and debate the merits and drawbacks of each instalment. You're seeing a problem where there isn't one and the fans who use this forum are paying for the fact Bioware want to minimise their community interaction.
Neither Facebook and Twitter are as accessible or offer as much as a forum and can easily be ignored. On top of that a great many of use don't use sites like tumblr or others.
You mentioned in the op about meeting fans. Out of interest, when is the next time Bioware is coming to Northern Ireland, or even the island of Ireland so I can take up this offer of dialogue?
We are still very committed to actively engaging our community. Through both social media, at live events, as well as through community run sites, we will continue to solicit feedback and listen to what our players are saying.
Our community has always be a cornerstone of how and why we make games, and we will continue to engage and listen to what you are saying.
Yes, yes. There's some good corporate speak in there.
Translation: We need to be more picky with what we listen to.
I've been here way too long, made too many friends still here & long gone, and care way too much about this place. Too many memories of friendships, smiles, jokes, and good news.
Me, right now-

I need a moment guys, give me a bit.
And as such we are cast out into the cold and wilderness among the wolves; with only a single thought in our minds, "where shall I go now?"

*sniff* I can't believe it's come to this *sniff* so long and thanks for all the fish *sniff*
This kinda sucks. There's nowhere else I know of that I can have dedicated chats about my Favoured franchise with others like me.
Hardly reeks of confidence either. The fall will be the first time we'll be hearing something committal about the game and the shutting down of the main avenue of discussion for it just in time seems like preparation for the worst.
Agreed. We know how this works. Sugared words are a cover for what they really mean. They are annoyed with our bickering and silencing us.Yes, yes. There's some good corporate speak in there.
