Just look at the DA reddit. The post with the highest vote under the announcement is basically "Ugh, make them go away. We don't want toxicity here."

How are we supposed to find a new "home" on any other of those 3rd party sites if we're already stigmatized? Quite a few of those fellas even admit that they haven't been here for years, but hey... everything is toxic here. They just know it.

This fragmentation and clique behaviour is just sad. Even sadder is the fact that quite a few of (ex)BioWare's people actually encourage that train of thought.

Sing along reddit.

No.

No, we did not.

Priestly constantly neglected his moderating duties and he shut down major conversations like IT and the entire romance subforum because he didn't want to bother moderating the stuff that really needed it.  A very large part of why BSN started circling the drain and got renowned for its toxicity is because of Priestly letting trolling and flaming run rampant.  Yeah, they did occasionally "crack down", and by "crack down" I mean come down hard on a few random infractions as a token effort.  That's not "ordered chaos" that's simply "chaos."

And Woo... don't get me started on Woo.

You're right. I wouldn't say they were good moderators. Especially Stanley was erratic. We did have less trolls, though.

But you have to admit, that thread was a master piece. ;)

Lets all head to face book and twitter and provide the feed back they want. By complaining constantly about forum closure. Like so many others are already doing on face book

I dont know if thriving is the word for Bethesda at least...

CDPR I have never signed up for, viewed it though once or twice at least, cant say either way.

This does really suck though. I have a feeling its something thats been mandated this time...which sucks too.

most of the cdpr threads involves bug hunting and optimization suggestions... been there. But when it comes to complaints of story/lore or game art / gameplay? near 0 complaints. That's how legendary the Witcher is as an RPG which has raised the standards of Western RPGS altogether.

I still have faith in MassEffect Androemda except it ended today... the closing of the forums means one thing "SILENCE" they will no longer listen to criticisms and just gave all of us a middle finger just like in the ending of 3.

Anyone here shouldn't reply to me about justifying the ending of ME3 because that was the most unsatisfactory POS in history that I have ever experienced in the history of gaming. Even dying in Minesweeper is much more satisfying than watching that crapfest of an ending. Now their mistakes are coming up clearly by shutting down the forums.

Rather than Destroy the forum, couldn't they Control it instead?  Or increase its integration with social media in some kind of Synthesis?

They will just refuse and we will lose.

I don't understand. Most of the big name folks who made their good games are gone, effectively they have handed over the reins of the franchise to the team who made the tacked on multiplayer section (I know somehow it was popular, but I guess my standards of multiplayer are different, as a life long LAN party fiend) and Omega.

Neither of those are cause for hope.

But then again I teach for a living so anyone who is off topic is automatically wrong in my eyes.

You talked about ME3 ending reaction in regard to the forum closing. That wasn't off topic.

I replied with my opinion about the ME3 ending reaction ,which could be relevant to the forum closing, as you correctly stated. That , therefore, also wasn't off topic.

I hear lots of complaints against Witcher's story.  It's just that most of those complaints are incredibly stupid.  For example, lots of people complain that "the baron killed himself because I helped a magic tree, how was I supposed to know that'd happen?!"  Gee, I don't know, maybe the fact that in-game books warn you about that monster.  Maybe the fact that the tree spirit was the creepiest thing this side of synthesis.  Heaven forfend that an RPG not hold your precious little hand all the way, God forbid that an RPG make choices where the right path isn't mindblowingly obvious.  Does doubly for the Blood and Wine expansion where getting the good ending is super hard without a guide.

ENGLISH (Google trad...sorry, I'm French)

This wasn’t an easy decision.

Our players are important to us. Your feedback, stories, and love for our games drive and inspire us.

Personally I do not believe for a second, it is an additional way to display contempt that commercial divisions, marketing, ... (that are not clearly gamers) have the player community clearly making there a stupid and evil mercantile calculation (how much costs the maintenance of servers? ah ok, good is not very active so we farm our side ...). As long as you do not have (com) considered the human component of the players and what you would have to win to do that you run right into an Atari-bis (referring to the disastrous management of Atari by commercial and which led him, despising the players to file for bankruptcy). And all your releases that exude hypocrisy and the total disrespect and more clearly taking us back to how you see us (ie cows, ordinary consumers, numbers, statistics, ...) do do you push more.

So it is with a heavy heart that we will close our public forums on August 26, 2016. We will maintain some private boards, and may use these in future for beta feedback or other special projects.

Again, I do not believe at all that do heavy heart, you're in trouble active, for you it means nothing. And so we see clearly the hypocrisy behind.

While we are saying goodbye to this venue, we remain committed to our community and will always be here to listen, share, and support you. Online and in person, we will continue to seek out opportunities to interact and share in our combined love of games.

Oh yes ? really ? And how to keep contact? How to communicate? You just stay true to the monetary value of the community, and also help you in any way since you fill your community by taking away its primary means of sharing, communication !!! And what passion you talking about? Where are the people ?? Where is the passion ?

Stop dishonesty, hypocrisy and lies, tell it like it is!
Personally I digress even further EA, its sickening policy DLC, Game sabotage for reasons of time and money ... to absolutely indecent prices on products (which is more dematerialized !!!).

Taking people for fools do not cost dear to the leaders, who themselves will in any peaceful way, but what is more intolerable is that all these stupid decisions and disconnected from human reality of the players (and more) going ultimately be harmful to employees, already under pressure ...

What attitudes, what humanity, what values, what legacy do you want?

You are Monsanto video games (and that's not a compliment ...)

A player

Well, I've been to sleep, had time to "process" and I still can't make sense of it. And now I'm just feeling pretty f'ing disgusted with Bioware as a whole, and that makes me sad. I guess 12 hours of reading about how toxic the forums are has poisoned my blood. You win, Bioware! We're all pieces of ****, I guess!

Dropping another link to https://realdragonagefans.forums.net/ as a potential place for people to congregate, if they so wish. The site has been very welcoming and understanding toward the many BSNers who staggered in there from the cold yesterday.

We aren't suggesting you use Twitter, or Facebook, or any other platform that you don't want to. Each has its advantages and disadvantages, and we encourage our players and studio members to use the sites that suit their preferences.

There are many places where you can still have in-depth discussions about lore, such as the wikis, fan run community boards. And yes, there is even Reddit, which while these discussions may sometimes get buried on the main subreddit, there is nothing precluding the creation of a lore or character-specific subreddit.

The discussions you are referring to are already happening in many other spaces and in many other forms. Some ephemeral and quick, others in-depth and at length.

We understand and appreciate that the people who use these boards enjoy them, but there are a lot of great things out there waiting. And while we are sad to see them go, we are hopeful for the future, and remain committed to talking with and listening to our community.

So instead of one place, where you could be sure that interested players accumulated, you now send us to a dozen different platforms we shall put our trust in?

Instead of getting yourselves together and spend more time in your own forums, where everything is in one place, you want to spend your time browsing a dozen different places?

If you're spending less time in one place, because you're too busy reading ten other places and your answer is closing that one place, then I have to say, I don't see the logic.

Wouldn't it make more sense to try and condense everything back into one place, instead of spending more time in ten different places?

This feels more like deliberately dispersing the community even further.

I always appreciated your willingness to talk things out. thank you.

There are a few posters I'm really going to miss reading. Sylvius the Mad, Sartoz, Wulfram, Solas, Hrungr, upsettingshorts and many others where I can't recall the name, just the opinions or speculations. I didn't always agree with you but I always enjoyed the posts. If you make a home for yourselves on another forum that allows wall-of-text posts I might have to stalk you there... in a completely harmless way, of course. I'll just read and ponder your words.

I'm honored, thankyou  :crying:

Well the news certainly dragged me out of the gutter, good on you BioWare.

So pray do tell me, what happens to all the purchased DLC which is linked to my account and has to be downloaded manually from the old User Entitlements page?

Apologies if this has been asked/answered.

Well, I've registered my games to Origin, all the DLC are fine, I've just got to re-purchase some of them for free.

So my main concern have been addressed.

I'll just stay for the ride then.

I know it is odd how on my half hour break I am capable of browsing the half a dozen game forums I am a part of for posts to reply to later when I get home. But apparently BioWare struggles with this. The only logical reason is they want to spread everyone out so they can't form any sort of organized complaint about games.

Oh Geeze the Reapers have taken over BioWare. Dividing everyone up to the four corners of the internet so they can harvest us.

Hard to tell anywhere on the Internet.  Human language evolved for tens of thousands of years dependant on our ability to use tone of voice to relay additional meaning and we lost that ability on our new little internet toy.

Also, they're destroying the world and telling us it's for our own good.  Apt metaphor is apt.
