Over what? I've seen quite a few posters angry about this person's banning but no one has said what happened. Or they did and the posts got removed (more likely scenario).

Didn't know till now, just saw you can't access her profile just like other permabanned accounts. But there're threads floating around about this now (pretty much everywhere).

LPPrince is referring to the /r/dragonage posts that explicitly say they're afraid of being overrun by angry and upset BSN people, bringing their toxicity into their safe haven. That is not welcoming; they're trying to protect their community from interlopers. That's their right, and I sort of get it, but at the same time it does show how there really isn't anywhere for us BSN folks to go. Sure, some people are working on alternatives, but if the community ends up fractured, I don't really see the point. Unless it becomes known that a great percentage of the BSN people have migrated over to a specific platform, I can't see myself caring about another place very much.

Also, the fact that these were the official forums meant something.

Ah, thanks for the clarification. I have read threads on r/dragonage. It's ok place, but it's not build for long discussions.   I can't say that social.bioware forums are very toxic though,  I have seen a couple of WTF worthy discussions but I just reported and stayed clear of them (like the most people would, I imagine).  I have been semi-actively on-line involved since ME PC release, so I understand not wanting to care about the new communities much.

Forget Youtube. Its a troll's playground. Funny how all these places talked about the forum being toxic because Bioware told them we were toxic when in fact they were and still are so much worse.

They of course cost them zero dollars to moderate though.  That is why they are a good alternative, in their opinion.

Over the years I liked the interaction with employees like Allan Schumacher, Brenon Holmes, Bryan Johnson, Fernando Melo, Jeff Rousell, Jesse Reid, John Epler and Luke Barrett. Except for Jesse (I think), most of them burned out sooner or later.

If you think about, then that isn't odd. These people have a daily job and interacting and moderating was done in their spare time. BW obviously needed more regular, maybe full-time, mods.

There were also voluntary mods, like for an example javierabegazo (he was more into ME) and Seagloom (lore mistress extraordinaire, she was great). They left for personal reasons. There was also a third lady. I forgot here name. Not sure why BW never recruited more of those wonderful people. They all did a great job.

I feel especially bad for the character related threads like the one dedicated to Solas. Here's an enigmatic character with loads of lore yet to be uncovered, is absolutely relevant to future DA games, and has a massive following. Thousands of pages of artwork, theory crafting and lore discussion that's about to go poof. They're scrambling to somehow archive everything and herd everyone to another board. It, and lots of other threads like it, are going to be a huge loss to the DA fanbase.

Louder for the people in the back!  :(

People see what they want to see, I suppose. I'm starting to get the impression that being a part of an internet community is like being a hazmat suit; when you're a part of one, literally everything outside of it is apparently toxic. I don't begrudge existing communities the desire to protect the atmospheres they have cultivated, but this insistence that BSN is the root of all evil on the internet is laughable.

If they at least admitted it was about the money. Would be nice for honesty.

If you want feed back you teduce the number of places not expand it and close the centralized location

Well I got a warning point for something that was clearly a joke. Anyway, I apologise Fredward I don't know what came over me. I didn't mean to imply that you were in any way apart of this toxic environment.

Now they are banning people and giving warnings without a reason. What a great way to treat the fans you love so much!

Not even a joke, I swear the BSN was the only group who ever watched any of those BioWare Base YT videos.

Evil Chris, if you're still here....

I just want you to know that I forgive you for locking the ME1 Love Interest thread on the Bioboards on the day it was announced that they would not be returning for the sequel.

I mean, don't get me wrong. I still think it was a punk move. Totally kicked us while we were down, bro. But I'm at peace with it now.  <3

I haven't been on the forums much for over a year but I just found out about this by Biofan's video on youtube. In my opinion Bioware....dumb move. You really are going to shut down your own forum where your fans and customers go to chat and communicate with each other and to you? Not a wise decision.

Heh, I remember this one. As a person who is not especially interested in romances, this was my first "Wait, people are THAT concerned about that ?" moment  :)

I manly ghost the forums these days since I usually only post in topics that interest me or feedack but my opinion on shutting down the forums is this...

ITS DUMB

Seriously if Bioware believes they can get better fan feedback on Tumblr and Reddit then they're more far gone than people already claim. Twitter is ok but hardly great, this has always been my one consistent source for news on Mass Effect & Dragon Age to see it go like this is just sad.

If you have any real love left for the fanbase then keep the forums around because while it may be mess full of hair and niche romance threads at the moment it will still treat you better than any other source out there

Well, I think a lot of us saw this coming after off topic, so its hard not to just chuckle at it all by this point.

Which is sad, really. Off topic was a real sore spot at the time.  We went through the whole process then, sorting somewhere else to go, getting mad and rightfully so, shouting all about in some hope of things getting sorted. I know me and LPP spoke about it at length at the time, and with many others too. And I know it hit us pretty hard. There's a whole bunch of people I've met here who really  are super important to me. It was just a comfortable, unique space of like minded people, and I valued that a lot, with a lot of fond memories to boot. That opportunity just simply won't be there for others in the future, so a small part of me feels sad and burnt out that the space that provided that is good as gone. Who knows what might be missed? There certainly won't be anything able to replace it, even if some seriously questionable PR speak says to the contrary.  :/

But yeah. Like I say, we did our moving on a long time ago. I've kept up with pretty much all of those important people in our own space now. I haven't even been back here in a while, 'cept to check the odd PM. So its hard to get too worked up over.

But my heart goes out to everyone else. It is a big enough deal to get invested in, even if some would say otherwise. I hope you all manage to keep up with each other as best you can, and find somewhere nice to do so.

Oh and LPPrince, I didn't realise you'd kept up with things so much here, so that goes double for you. My business here about ended with this post and making sure my account doesn't go up in smoke with a joke Roman Reigns avi. X)

It just struck me... Isn't it extremely strange that the members of the forums weren't notified by e-mail? Is this on purpose, to avoid less traffic in the last month? Bah. The more I think about, the more uncomfortable the whole situation makes me.

I've always been committed to this place. It deserved it. Its why I'm so mad/sad. I wanted this place improved for years, I've suggested ways to do so for years, I offered my own assistance for years, I helped people on the forum for years, I kept things positive with developers for years, and it all comes down to this.

A complete and utter failure. All of that for nothing.

Also, they're destroying the world and telling us it's for our own good.  Apt metaphor is apt.

The mods must be having the time of their lives.

What on earth? I understand the forum rules still apply as long as the forum is up, but it's like they want our community to scatter and fragment and have a hard and unwieldy time picking a new forum to migrate to or banding together to create a new one.

Chris Priestly once gave me  a 1 day ban for "promoting bestially" because I asked for a Nug Romance. Guy was a complete load.

Which is sad, because he used to be a cool guy.

The ME3 ending rage killed the joy out of everyone, even Stanley Woo.
