Youtube. With no moderation the place is... yeah...

Oh... Mayhap I read your post wrong.

I've seen very little racism on YouTube. Most of it is from morons with shitty grammar and punctuation, and most people ignore them. Occasionally, they get 10 or so likes, and a couple supporting comments, that's it. But, yeah, YouTube is hardly a place with-which to have large stimulating discussions.

The ME3 ending rage killed the joy out of everyone, even Stanley Woo.

This will never not make me laugh.

I've always been committed to this place. It deserved it. Its why I'm so mad/sad. I wanted this place improved for years, I've suggested ways to do so for years, I offered my own assistance for years, I helped people on the forum for years, I kept things positive with developers for years, and it all comes down to this.

A complete and utter failure. All of that for nothing.

I hear ya. You always did. Just wasn't too aware anymore being out of the loop is all. You went that extra mile anyways, so that's something else, but I'd be lying if I said I'd completely given up on the place. I'd have happily come back in some capacity for Andromeda, if it turned out all right But I guess there goes that  :/

But If you need to vent or whatever, I'll stick a podcast or something on that paperweight I boot up every few weeks or so. Might even be around.   :)

All right, I guess I have a practical question now:  Is there a good news aggregator site, similar to the  WDWK/social media threads here, where you can find the actual development related information ?

Which is sad, because he used to be a cool guy.

If these forums were good for one thing, it was letting Bioware know people didn't like ME3's ending. They're still complaining about it.

Fun fact, yesterday I signed up to be taught the boxing fighting discipline. So I'll be better in the future about punching bags when I'm mad. Aaaaaay

This makes me feel a tad better that this is not the harbinger of doom.

Shadow DRAC 086 ‏@ShadowDRAC086

@BioMarkDarrah Well, with the death of the BSN, there is a lot of worry about what's going on. Should we be worry about MEA's DLCs and DA4?

Mark Darrah @BioMarkDarrah

@ShadowDRAC086 nope

This point keeps getting made again and again by various people and none of the official Bioware people here to seem to care. NOTHING can replace these official forums as a place for fans to gather and talk to each other. THAT is the main reason why we're all so upset.

If you people don't give a damn about the community that the fans have built for themselves, then just say so. Be honest. Please don't try to offer platitudes that you actually care when by your very actions you're showing that you don't.

Showing that you care would be to acknowledge that you are killing this community, even if it doesn't change anything in the end.

I'm sure there are some Bioware folks who are also unhappy with the decision, and that's very nice and appreciated that they feel that way. But offering up these excuses, over and over again, about communicating with the devs, when it has been mentioned that that is not the primary reason we come here, is starting to be insulting.

[edit]

I'll also add that IF this is the signal of the end of Bioware, or either of their two main IP franchises, that adds another level of insult to this whole fracas. All the talk about communicating with the devs will have been total BS because there will be no more devs to communicate with.

Again, we want honesty and clarity in this time of uncertainty.

I totally agree - the " talking points and key messages" seemed so disingenuous - it was hurtful.

The idea that this place is toxic is also upsetting to me. There is no doubt there has been some nastiness and over-the-top criticisms and negativity at times but this is about what maybe 10% of the posts ...??

I cant believe that having a place that fandom can come to share their love of the game and to converse with other fans is not seen as a wonderful marketing tool that will bring them $$$ and more fans. Makes no sense to me to shut this down.

Shinobi on Twitter: "Ehh, most fans of games don't congregate in their official forums anyway. There's a ton of ways to communicate."

I like him but wtf. Of course there's ton of ways to communicate, but if you want to have a long discussion with fans too bad for you, you're the minority.

This is sad.

I hope I can get an answer on this. Will social.bioware.com and the mods hosted on it be taken down, too ? If so, how can they be saved ?

I'm choosing to be optimistic. Also, he can't really say anything explicitly, particularly regarding DA4, since it isn't even officially a thing yet. The single "nope" didn't seem to be anything other than the usual dev vagueness, but I felt it was better than nothing.

Just out of curiosity does anyone know of other AAA devs that simply don't have any official forums of any kind?

I don't recall Microsoft having any official forums for their games.

This closure was a shortsighted decision. What makes Bioware different from Bethesda who have been running their forums for more than a decade uninterrupted?

QFT. Bioware lies so much that until Andromeda was announced, I honestly expected Shepard to come back because they told us he wouldn't. Over in the IT forum, our emote for official BW statements is M'aiq the Lair. 9137153.png We have a lot of fun emotes. Bet you guys wish you had this one: 1637929035.gif

I wish I could weigh in on that but I've only sparingly lurked the Beth forums in the past

In that case, he could have just ignored it. He didn't have to reply in the first place, but he chose to do so.

BW always used to reply to things with denials even if they were true.  I remember one of ME3's DLCs, Omega I think, Priestly actually called it a "baseless rumor" the very morning that it was officially announced.
