The logic behind this is indefensible. No one who posts here is only doing so because of dev interaction. The Andromeda forum proves that beyond a shadow of a doubt. Devs have never interacted with us there and yet it's very active, with hundreds of daily users.

That's just laughable.
This was coming ever since the BSN was shut down.
I'm really bitter, and though I know it doesn't change anything, I'm about to unfollow Bioware on twitter and facebook out of spite. Y'all don't want me in your space, I'll take you out of mine.

The Sims have their own huge forum and community, same as SW... but still that IS sad...
The BioWare forums are where I truly became “a fan”. It’s where I was able to interact with other fans, share ideas, be kept informed on game development, and form a deeper love with BioWare products. I’ll put it this way: without the forums having been there, there probably wouldn’t be a BioFan today. I’m very disappointed in the decision to close down the forums. Sure there are other social media platforms for fans, but none that quite offered the same level of organized development information or longer-term common interest discussion. If fans wanted to get together to share their love/ideas/theories/etc for a character (like Cullen for example) the forums offered a great venue to discuss the character over a longer period of time. The forums served, for many, as an easy medium to navigate and learn details about upcoming games they were interested in. Other social media outlets offer this, but in a much more limited or time sensitive manner. While the developers themselves may not visit the forums often, it is a well-used venue for the BioWare community.
This.
innit mate call me when they ever come
north of the Wallto anywhere in the UK/in the Isles that isn't London
Yep. I'll just wait patiently for the answer. Because they care about sharing dialogue with us. Apparently.
You know, it's pretty insulting to say this is about developers no longer reading here, as if Bioware is doing us all a favor by closing the forums. As if there's not 1000+ page threads of users solely talking to each other.
Ikr? I didn't realise we were all here posting thousands of comments just for the devs to peruse. It'd be great if they were here, but there's value in this site without them. For, you know, the thousands of ppl who actually buy and play the games. ![]()
So assuming I get ME4 and the MP takes off again I'll be doing my datamining, but I obviously wont be posting any of that here now for the community.
Since I have a dislike of Reddit/Tumblr and Facebook/Twitter are **** mediums for that sort of thing, I wont be posting on any of those sites either.
BioWare doesn't seem to want any sort of community for that kind of thing, or for lore discussions.
I use tumblr a pretty decent amount but I don't really know how to interact with people on it. Even though I follow a lot of DA/ME fans on there and have mutual follows, I don't really understand how to have a discussion about anything because reblogging/commenting seems super sloppy and easy to miss. Am I missing something?
Is it possible? Can someone rip the code for this forum and just make a new website? One that isn't actually under BioWare's control, but is basically the same in every way?
Would BioWare even care if someone did that?
Would take a better mind than mine to do such a thing however.
Someone pls this
This is sad, but I guess I'm not surprised.
I've said this before and I will say it one last time, the reason the Bioware forums became so toxic and negative is DIRECTLY related to the decision to make people sign up for the BSN to access ME/DA game content and DLC. It invited a lot of people who otherwise would never have wanted to participate in Bioware forums to come to this website. Forum communities should not be advertised to the unwashed masses. They are private communities that should be found and engaged by people who genuinely seek them out and want to be a part of a community, not by every casual customer who wants to complain. The minute Bioware forced gamers to link their accounts to the BSN is the minute the Bioware forums went down the toilet.
Goodbye Bioware, may god have mercy on you, because your fans certainly won't.

"Prepared for the future!"
This isn't our fault. It's probably EA forcing Bio to do this. Maybe.
Doubtful, but anything is possible I suppose. and I wouldn't put it past EA to do so. Looking on the bright side, if this means they'll be able to put more resources into actual game development then I'll be a happy camper. However, there really isn't a place that is dedicated solely to BioWare games. All other sites have some other interest attached them. There interactions is what I'll miss the most here. I already put my thoughts in other thread reposting them here:
There reasoning is bullshit. I don't have the luxury to just travel all around the world to different cons and what not. This forum was an easy place to get answers to lore questions that I have, speculate on content, etc. etc.. If they truly feel that their players are important to them then don't do the ones that can't go to cons on a regular basis a disservice by leaving them in the dark.
EA's cleaning house. I don't hate EA. They make some decent games but really they're nothing but affluent men and women who care more about their pocket books.
It's obvious that I lost all respect for the company, but I'll stay polite.
The forums became too large and the company does not want to invest in moderation. So, first they shut down the off-topic forums, in the hope that some of the vocal people left and that this saved the moderators some work. However, that didn't cut down the number of people criticizing the company and their games. And thus, there was one solution left: Shut it all down.
It's a simple business decision, designed to reduce cost.
I bet that the stockholders will be happy.

Yeah, this. Figuring out how some of these communities work is going to be a pain.

No, that's Tumblr :/

Having a hard time avoiding this conclusion myself, but it seems inevitable.
And Twitter, Instagram, Reddit, etc. are total crap.
