Yes.
There were anything else in Off-Topic than anime talks?
Weird.

Has anyone considered the unlikely possibility that this may be a stealth attempt at 'restarting' the community? Just like DA:O back in 2009, when ME:A launches, a new website/forum will be put together and stuff, with a completely new database. Am I off the mark?
It was mainly created by Johnnie Walker to be the basis for her Youtube channel.
Curious, how is that going?

No.
There was also Kamen Rider and Super Sentai talks as well.

In the anime thread.
This is generally a good summary, though I would add two things:
1. TSG wasn't created to be a rival of VSN. It was mainly created by Johnnie Walker to be the basis for her Youtube channel. The moderators on both forums have been stressing for awhile now that membership on one does not disqualify you from membership on the other. You can always make an account on both and cross-post between the two.
2. The issues that created the divide on VSN were about the moderation policy in general, not just the specific banning of certain posters. That was just one part of it.
But yeah, I would say you should look into both and see which one suits you, or if you want to be a regular on both.
In regards to point 1. I've been trying to stress this so much.
In response to point 2. I'd also like to add that in regard to the moderation policy from my understanding it was because of nepotism on my part (giving mod jobs [sounds scandalous when worded like that, lol] to people from the A&M thread only; in my defense I had asked a couple of people from outside the thread, but they understandably didn't want to mod and then I fell back on who else I knew really well). If I could do it over again, I would have kept going until I found someone from outside the Anime thread and gave him/her mod powers, in addition to the people that I have modding right now.
Also Cassandra's forum has a Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood section.
Forget what I said.
Everyone join that forum now.
Bioware at their peak.
It doesn't help with the perception that the two forums are in opposition if either side calls the mods of the other names.
Which happens a lot.

Why would they. Either EA wants to homogenise its community, or BW just wants a safespace for itself where people can't be "toxic".
I told you guys we should have made Recon a mod.
This was the idea I was talking about before.
Puddi wanted a homophobe as a mod.
See? Puddi has great judgement!

One of them owns me an apology.
You should have made me the Lord of the VSN.
Every thread would have been the anime thread.

Now, now.
Just because Tim Kaine is anti-choice doesn't mean he'll govern that way.
True.
Both are goofy old oddballs.
But I only like the one.
The purpose of the forums for you BW, may be to get feedback from your fans but that's not their only function. The forums are also a place for your fans to gather and discuss your game. It's a really selfish move to shut down the forums just because other forms of feedback are possible.
Instead of jumping off into an unofficial forum that probably won't end up being successful, I'd say it's a better use of time and effort to communicate RESPECTFULLY to EA's and BioWare's community teams about why the forums were a good thing to have, what you liked about them, and most importantly what purposes they serve/served for the companies. Maybe nothing will happen, but it's better than doing nothing.
The origin of VSN as told by Ness and Vroom:
Bioware shot Vroom's off topic, and in the ensuing events, he learnt that 'with great power comes great responsibility'. Vroom became Vroom-Man and shoots oil from his tires to swing from rooftop to rooftop, sometimes his oil is strong enough to stop villains in their tracks. And then there was a civil war. :/ Also a clone saga, but we haven't got to that yet.
Don't worry TSG suffers from problems with nepotism too.
Edit- quoted wrong post.

guys this thread isn't the place to air out all the dirty laundry between VSG, TSG, and whatever the hell is wrong with Cass Saturn.
This thread is about why BioWare is closing the forums, and why they are lying to us about their reasons for it
