I see people praising CD Project Red and I have only heard praise about the witcher series -criticisms too, but said criticism where about laughably irrelevant-to-a-game's-quality topics, so I never bothered with them- so I really want to try it.

But

Fantasy rpg. Without being able to play a spellcaster.

I can't. I try, but I can't.

Oh, I did give them constructive feedback.

Then they banned me and told me I wasn't welcome. I'm not kidding when I say they might be the worst developer I've ever played games from.

Tale of Tales might be up there. After their game Sunset predictably bombed they screamed "F gamers! F the games industry!" and then wished for gamers everywhere to die in agony. I'm not making that up either.

That's quite an understatement... some people like the teacher-student analogy but in this case it feels to me like the student figuratively blew the teacher's head off with a shotgun.

The quality that The Witcher 3 oozes in pretty much every regard is an order of magnitude above anything Bioware has ever done.

I don't know about "ever done", if only becuase Bioware has made many more games than CDPR. Don't get me wrong, I adore TW3 (aside from Gwent, Gwent is irredeemably boring to me and the game does an awful job of explaining how to actually play), but I think I like the DA game just a tiny bit more. Like, 9.25 compared to a solid 9.

I didn't knew that term earlier, so I also looked it up for curiosity sake. I don't know what to say really. If according to them BSN is toxic, how am I suppossed to call the way they're acting?

Well they're completely justified of course! A few people were mean to them years ago, so their bile against everyone is completely justified. I mean, obviously!

I'd nominate Gearbox for the discussion, but I'm not sure anyone is giving them money anymore. Moot point I guess.

Gearbox has at least made good games before they went downhill.. Beamdog doesn't even have that credit. And at least SOME of their devs don't seem to actively hate the people who play their games. Randy Pitchford, as much as he's turning into Peter Molyneux with his PR and marketing lies, at least seems to like gamers.

If only the Witcher series allowed for a female PC...I know it's based on a series of books written by Andrzej Sapkowski where the protagonist is a man, but I don't know. It's a video game. Its universe can be expanded beyond the books.

Where am I gonna write all that, on Twitter?

Besides "respectful" is a relative term. Relative to how I'm really feeling. For example, right now I'm feeling pretty disrespectful. There are alot of things I want to say. So, the mighty effort I'm employing to communicate respectfully may still have a little Bite to it.  But compared to what I really want to say, it's pretty darn respectful...trust.

Your voice is louder when it is respectful. Call them out by all means, but do so with critique, not insult. I'm not a happy camper either. I wouldn't be in here if I were. What do you think happened with ME3's ending? There was a strong enough response to cause change. I doubt they listed to those who didn't give them anything to go on. They listen to those who (while can still fully be unhappy with the situation) give them constructive criticism

Twitter, email, whatever you have at your disposal. It's better than not saying anything.

I've always found this the silliest possible complaint. It's like picking up a Die Hard game and being annoyed you're Bruce Willis.

I remember when Final Fantasy XIII was first announced and people were angry about having to play a female character. They were largely mocked. As they should have been. I'll never understand why the opposite complaint, not wanting to play a male character, is somehow credible.

Did this thread's title change to "Place to bash people in the gaming industry you don't like" while I was out of the room? What the hell, guys?

I haven't played Sunset (nor do I have any inclination to), so I can't give them any awards.

But yeah, I was around for that fiasco too.

I used to somewhat like indie games and indie devs, but now it seems like ever since GamerGate started, they've shown us just how much they hate us. Jonathan Blow, Phil Fish, Tommy Refenes, Tale of Tales, Beamdog, Digital Homicide, just about every semi-prominent indie dev I can think of, they all make garbage and then ****** their pants in anger when people call their bad games bad.

I loved playing dice poker in W1 & 2.

Gwent took some getting used to but once I figured it out and tweaked my deck properly, it was golden.

I don't remember much of anyone actually being mad about Lightning being a woman in FF13, but I do remember a lot of Polygon/Kotaku/Gamasutra/garbage taking the same 5 random anon tweets and using them as proof of "LOOk HOW SEXIST DUR GAEMERS R, DEY HAET WOMYN" and *telling us* how people hated playing as a woman.

The problem is that, like David Gaider said, Bioware already thought closing the BSN was long overdue.

I don't think insulting the company will achieve anything either, but what will trying to talk to them do at this point?

They see no problem in taking an action that will have an irreversible consequence: fragment the community. Some of them are even happy about it.

The rest of us will just have to sit and watch the people with whom we've interacted over 10+ years spread all over alternate social networks, scattered to the four winds.

My gripe as well. And I've read the books and liked them. I'm really looking forward to Cyberpunk though, hoping for more choice in the protagonist department. Still Bioware games make the day for me.

I once saw someone on the BSN complaining about having to play as a white guy in the Arkham games. So... yeah.

They have talked about how Ctberpunk 2077 will have a lot of choice in the protagonist department, since they want to capture the range of options you have in the pen and paper games. One of the things specifically mentioned is being able to play as male or female.
