I met SomeGeth here.
I wonder where he went?
Who knows.
I recall Some Geth tho.
He was an opinionated close-minded jerk.

I like that you put the word entitled in quotation marks, as if to imply that you aren't actually entitled, immediately after you say that you won't buy games that let you choose your gender. That is one of the most entitled things I've ever heard.
It's silly to you because you are probably a guy. I'm a woman who's had to play countless male PCs before finally having the pleasure of making my own customisable female PC in Dragon Age.
Now that gaming companies realized protagonists don't always have to be men, they can easily adapt any story to fit for both male and female PCs.
I don't care how wonderful Witcher is. I want a story that respects my choice for playing as a female. Why? For two reasons.
1- Because at least half the gamers in the world are women nowadays. And I don't want to play as Standard_Male_Protagonist again.
2- Because male and female viewpoints are radically different. You can't derive any satisfaction from the Miranda romance as a hetero female, for example. Or from having to hear other male characters make sexist jokes about an NPC and see your male PC laughing at them while you're internally cringing.
It's simple as that.
You are not entitled to the existence of games that pander to you. If you get them , good for you, if you don't and want to ask for them good for you too. But stop pretending you somehow deserve them. Your rights don't include the existence of games you want or the gaming industry working towards a quota. You are not being wronged somehow when/if you don't have electronic interactive toys made to your specifications. You're not that important. No one is.

1- Games have been pandering to men's desires for years because like any form of entertainment, they must attract consumers by appealing to what they like the most. Which is why the PC is always a strong dude, usually a figure of authority who's out to save the world and meet hot, half-naked chicks.
Please stop talking nonsense. Pandering to audiences is what entertainment is about.
2- My "rights", as you call them, are consumer rights, something which you're obviously scarcely aware of. And who the hell is talking about rights? I'm talking about multiple possibilities for the development of fictional universes. About what consumers like me want. Something that doesn't concern you, only the developers.
3- I'll ask whatever I want from whomever I want in the gaming industry. What I do plus the remaining 50% of the gaming community is none of your business. You have a problem with that, go talk to a wall.

This just in, folks, exercising your rights as a consumer to buy what you want to do is now entitlement.
In what bizarro world am I obligated to spend money on a game I don't want to play?
I guess not acknowledging my point and putting up a strawman to knock down is good too.
That's fair enough (I personally go more for sci-fi over fantasy myself), I just think it's a bit silly to mourn the lack of a main character who is female, when the source material that the game is based off of already has the same lacking.
Nah, it's not in the way of "I'm prepping my pitchfork cause no Geraldine" and more of a wishful thinking "how awesome would it be if I could play any Witcher(ess)" regardless of how nonsensical it sounds. I connect much better with females, although there are exceptions.
And yeah, I'm very much a sci-fi nerd and was just getting excited about MEA launch...

More breaking news: responding to an absurd point by laughing at its absurdity is now "putting up a strawman".

1. Women have been central figures in games for more than 30 years. Don't pretend that it's only ever men who are the heroes.
3. You and other women are not "the other 50% of the gaming community", don't pretend that you are.

Consumer "rights" are a myth, you don't matter, and you never have.
He is talking to a wall though....
I want more left handed characters in games. I won't play as right handed people anymore. Our viewpoints are completely different. I can't identify with righties.
Left handed people are the spawn of Satan!

1. Games have pandered to men because that's what the devs wanted at the time. And there was nothing wrong with that.
2.Consumer rights don't include the design of something you'd like to have.
3.Ask whatever you want. The problem starts when/if you think you're being wronged when/if you don't get it.
I've ziplined my way through all the stages of grief overnight and I guess I've landed on acceptance already. Feel like this is an accurate sentiment:
Goodbye, BSN. It was fun lurking and occasionally popping out to talk with you all.

Fair enough. Connect with whomever you connect best with. As long as you're not demanding developers change their games to suit your own personal desires, I'm cool with it.

Thanks to this post, I actually realised I've been a left handed man living in a body of a right handed man all along. Probably that's why I chose the option while playing CS 1.6.
I hope trans-lefthanded people will get the proper representation in games we deserve.
Left handed people are the spawn of Satan!
But... I'm an atheist. I don't even believe in Satan. ![]()

Then you need to be purged from the Earth for your blasphemous beliefs!

I agree, therefore all future games for the next 20 years shall only include female protagonists.
