Lol, seeing Casey's face in the video thumb reminded me; I found this old gem while sorting through my image folder the other day. Now it feels sadly relevant!

Weird how prophetic poor YouTube subtitles can be.

Casey doing his best impression of the "I'm not saying it's aliens, but, ALIENS!" guy.

No, his hair doesn't look nearly enough like a hawk to be Giorgio Tsoukalos.

Not every woman arguing for more options in games has a secret feminist agenda.

I'm glad you took a break from ranting about sexism, demanding the option of female protagonists, and weaving elaborate conspiracy theories about the industry using social engineering to get potential female customers away from video games to tell us that you don't have a feminist agenda.

And this mindset is why we're where we are today.

Yeah let's ignore that nearly every platform Gaider runs to always ends with the people there thinking he's a major (insert something nasty here).

Your voice is louder when it is respectful. Call them out by all means, but do so with critique, not insult. I'm not a happy camper either. I wouldn't be in here if I were. What do you think happened with ME3's ending? There was a strong enough response to cause change. I doubt they listed to those who didn't give them anything to go on. They listen to those who (while can still fully be unhappy with the situation) give them constructive criticism

Twitter, email, whatever you have at your disposal. It's better than not saying anything.

Not to people who just don't care and if Bioware really wanted constructive criticism then they wouldn't close the forum and entirely switch to platforms like Twitter, Facebook ect.

1- Because they didn't expect women to like videogames one day. Their target audience was solely men.

It so happens that women aren't predestined to like cooking, babysitting and other exclusive domestic/motherly activities. That's a social convention which created a distorted image of how women are in reality for over, what? Years? Decades? Centuries?

Did you know there are more women than men attending Math classes in American universities today? Conventions are just that. They don't mean anything. Some people live by them, others are brought up to find a different path. Like I was. I'm not a house wife, nor do I teach young children, like women traditionally do. I have a job, I teach and I've chosen to postpone marriage until I have better conditions to balance domestic life and work. Still an unusual choice for women, but one that's becoming more and more common nowadays.

I've been playing games ever since I was a little kid. Most of my male friends were surprised when they learned of this. I bet the reaction was similar when gaming companies realized they missed a huge potential market on women.

Now they're investing to satisfy our requests as well - not our DEMANDS or RIGHTS - and developing far broader games with a more complete content to please as much of their audience as they can. We're just an unexpected potential market they're exploring. I'm not a crazy feminist talking about rights here, nor do I associate with SJW or any of that crap. I don't stalk and harass people online because "feminism rules". I'm just stating the obvious. And you'll find this position in a lot other women AND men as well. Especially among fathers who have little girls, you know.

Well said. Although, I think it's good to remember that games were marketed to boys because we segregate our toys by gender, and companies felt boys were the most likely market. Still, women and girls playing games is nothing new. My grandma gamed on an Atari. Consoles used to be expensive toys that siblings had to share. All my little girl friends in the 80s and 90s played games. At some point they stopped, perhaps because all the male targeted advertising made them think they weren't supposed to like games.

I've always appreciated BioWare's attempts to make games that are for everyone to play--that they don't leave anyone feeling left out. It's not about "feminism." Now they may have been catering to feminists when they removed bordellos from Dragon Age, and this is one lady who missed the character they added to the Thedas. We all just want to have fun without feeling alienated. It's a smart move for companies to try to get more female customers. We are half the market. That's why they started selling razor blades to women.  :wizard:

See we can have a nice civil conversation about women and gaming without TOXICITY. I'd participated in threads on this topic before. I think it goes a long way toward bridging the divide between men and women in the gaming community.

"Our players are important to us." ; "we remain committed to our community and will always be here to listen, share, and support you." - yeah... right... <_<

"In the past, our forums were the only way we could speak to you directly. They allowed our developers to talk with fans, and gave our players the opportunity to talk with each other about our games." - selfish from Bioware...

BTW. Andromeda must be very bad, so BW closes forums... because haters :P

P.S. Shepard RIP, Bioware forums RIP, ... Bioware RIP ?

Makes me sad to see that even on this thread people are talking about gender and representation in games.

Congratulations to all of you. They're doing something stupid, but you're no better.
