I guess the forums conversations aren't positive and butt kissing enough, some special little snowflakes working at Bioware got their little feelwings hurt and they decided enough is enough.
There is no way any of these crappy social media sites like Twitter or Facebook can match a forum in terms of people sharing ideas and debating each other.

thread is derailing...

I still want this place to stay. Even if I can't change their minds, mine isn't changing either.
Despite whatever nonsense that goes on here -- good and bad -- this is THE BioWare community where old/new fans can come together and gab about everything from Old God Dragons to dreaded Robotic Reapers.
It has been repeated numerous times that this is our only place to actually congregate as a whole but it really can't be stressed enough.
We've been chatting with each other without devs or any other Bio employees. That interaction is nice but we've shown we don't need it to still be a community. I've been with BioWare, enjoying their games even though neither are perfect...
Without BSN there is no community.
If the Powers That Be really want to push us away, fracture us or sweep us under the rug... How do you expect anything to get better moving forward? Maybe none of you will see any of this but I've said how I feel... And I'm devastated.

Makes me sad to see that even on this thread people are talking about gender and representation in games.
Congratulations to all of you. They're doing something stupid, but you're no better.
Sorry, I haven't been a regular since 2013. I'll be sure to run all my posts by you to make sure the topic is acceptable first.

Here here! However futile this is I am also hoping that, against all odds, some miracle will save this place. I even ventured into more mainstream threads, that has to count for something.

This is a reminder, please keep reposting all the links to relocate all the members to new boards. Also put those links in your signatures and keep posting on these boards until they shut down.
Conal, when you shut down these boards, could you redirect everyone to one of the communities made by fans instead? Thank you.

Well said. Although, I think it's good to remember that games were marketed to boys because we segregate our toys by gender, and companies felt boys were the most likely market. Still, women and girls playing games is nothing new. My grandma gamed on an Atari. Consoles used to be expensive toys that siblings had to share. All my little girl friends in the 80s and 90s played games. At some point they stopped, perhaps because all the male targeted advertising made them think they weren't supposed to like games.
I've always appreciated BioWare's attempts to make games that are for everyone to play--that they don't leave anyone feeling left out. It's not about "feminism." Now they may have been catering to feminists when they removed bordellos from Dragon Age, and this is one lady who missed the character they added to the Thedas. We all just want to have fun without feeling alienated. It's a smart move for companies to try to get more female customers. We are half the market. That's why they started selling razor blades to women.
See we can have a nice civil conversation about women and gaming without TOXICITY. I'd participated in threads on this topic before. I think it goes a long way toward bridging the divide between men and women in the gaming community.
I remember a friend of mine from school used to get odd looks because she loved reading scifi. Most girls were reading romance novels and fashion magazines. Scifi felt too unfamiliar to them (even though they had never read any of it). But she said she loved it and suggested I read all the books from Asimov and Philip K. Dick. I thought they would be too hard to read - because I was one of those people who thought scifi books were "overloaded with technobabble and complex scientific ideas" -, so she suggested I started by Fahrenheit 451, a book she considered an easy read.
When I first read Fahrenheit 451, it completely changed my mind about the genre. Here in Brazil, women sadly prefer soap opera and romance over scifi. It wasn't until TV series like Star Trek were broadcast that some of them came to like scifi. Many still have that old prejudice that scifi is a typically masculine genre, even when you have women like Mary Shelley, Julian May and Ursula LeGuin, all well known scifi authors.

If they actually cared about their fan communities, they wouldn't be closing the forums in the first place. Just sayin.

Well, good for them when they can. I guess it's probably one of the healthier reactions. I just can't feel excited atm, so I'm searching for ways to save valuable threads. Not that anything good came out it so far ;]

Or all the threads people posted asking about where they should go. =\ Directing back here is all well and good, but it's 90+ pages to wade through for an answer to a question they shouldn't even have to ask.

Tsk, tsk. Didn't you read the OP? They just care so much, so deeply about the fans that it's the very reason why they're shutting everything down. It honestly makes perfect sense. Just think about it, man. You gotta open up your miiiiind.

There was an old BSN thread for Grunt's birthday, user names with characters from Mass Effect having a conversation, it was incredible. Sadly with the new forum outlay, they lost their avatar pics and the whole thing was ruined. I loved that thread, it was hillarious to follow when it happened. ![]()

I really don't know how some people can make normal threads and discuss about Andromeda. Just thinking about Mass Effect makes me sad...
I really don't know how people can only now feel that way about MEA. That's how I've felt about it ever since they announced they didn't have the stones to address the ending to 3 and were instead going to burn the lore to the ground by moving the series to another galaxy. It's pretty rare you screw up so badly so that you have to abandon an entire galaxy.

Yeah, I fired up Mass Effect 2 to check the DLCs, I haven't touched the franchise since 2013 I did for an EC run, it felt horrible. I used to watch the ME2 launch trailer every day to release. Killing that kind of excitement is an achievement on its own. ![]()

Yeah, few months ago I was having a nostalgia trip through some of the old ME threads I used to lurk in. All art and photos not displaying at all or incorrectly.
