No, they never actually said BSN being toxic was why they're shutting it down. It's just not relevant anymore.

 CP said the head honchos for ME3 and DA2 wanted the BSN taken down (as such) after the DA2 and ME3 backlash, but were convinced to keep it up. 

 

Now, there has been ranting going on against BioWare devs on twitter and here as well because of the teeny tiny bit of info revealed about MEA doesn't suit them. See the devs have to be forced to make a game that suits only these types...

BTW^ that's one of the bsn'ers saying this...the jawline dude. He also went off on a black tweeter, defending the so-called Mexican femRyder, about white supremacy. He also has gone on rants on BSN about sjw, then suddenly about lesbians are lesbians because they were sexually abused as children, stated that gay men were pedos, and BioWare doesn't care about its core fanbase and people who want to raise families...uh???

 

This is a preemptive strike against their harshest critics before MEA material is dropped, probably around late-September the first bits. I mean it was just going to get worse anyway. But now we all suffer.

 

I remember, not but 2-3 months ago, the forum lit up blue with multiple mods after a certain poster threatened BioWare if quarians (females to be specific) weren't in the game.

There's no point in the community moving into a forum with a high chance of turning into a huge mess.

It's going to be complicated enough for people to move , avoiding drama is the best way to keep things going somewhat smoothly.

Let's say Cassandra's lying about her history. Why should we care about that?

The frequency and veracity of the dishonesty makes it impossible to take what she says at face value. This isn't the first BSN replacement type forum she's made, the others are dismantled or abandoned.

 

That said, she is offering the closest like-for-like BSN replacement forum of the current batch, so I genuinely do hope it works out. Just wouldn't put money on it is all.

Instead of jumping off into an unofficial forum that probably won't end up being successful, I'd say it's a better use of time and effort to communicate RESPECTFULLY to EA's and BioWare's community teams about why the forums were a good thing to have, what you liked about them, and most importantly what purposes they serve/served for the companies. Maybe nothing will happen, but it's better than doing nothing. 

 

I think we already did that. If 80 pages (as it was before the OT truly started) of why the decision of closing the forums sounds utter stupidity to us it's not enough, then honestly we're wasting our time writing it down for them.

People already expressed their opinion and 99% disagree with BioWare (or EA, or whoever took the call) on the matter of closing the forums. Now we're just having a last time of good old off-topic fun before we enter the oblivion realms for good.

Most of the off-topic anyways seems to be regarding where should we all exile ourselves.

I wonder when EA will close Bioware.

Lol. If their new IP tanks, DA ends, and they run out of ME/DA spin-offs and extentions.. I won't be surprised if they are desolved or absorbed in some kind of fashion with Bioware employees flocking to other gaming businesses (which has happened already in the past).

Anyway.. it's not about money. It's about?

BIoware 1: Look, I like to have fun on social media with other people dealing with our video games. OUR forum is too much bull**** for me to deal with even though we never (for the most part) there. The fans over there need to use other resources to talk to us or talk to each other.

I've never understood how third party sites are easier to control than your own. If that really is the case then perhaps you need to build a better forum, using some of the ideas that those other sites employ.

Personally I don't believe that Bioware saw this as a difficult decision. It's been clear for a long time now that they had no interest in the place, with only Jesse Reid making effort to communicate with people on here.

Which is the perfect example. Speak to people with politeness and respect and 99% of the time you'll have the same returned to you, even if they don't like the answer that they've been given. It's a shame that a handful of people have tarnished the reputation of this place to such a degree that Reddit of all places doesn't want new members from here.

I just don't see how Bioware hope to foster community by scattering it to the wind.

I have avoided addressing this broader topic for a wide variety of reasons, most of which involve my friends being banned for legitimately questioning the motives of someone's whose various outlier characteristics exist solely as sources of their own aggrandizement.

 

But the more important question would be: Why would you start the process of establishing a rational alternative to BSN by handing leadership over to someone whose narcissism is well known to result in vindictive behaviour towards those who fail to directly endorse or support the narcissist?

 

I feel weird at this particular juncture of history that it is necessary to point out the failings in said approach.
