Guys, they're gonna close the forums down!

Concerning Our Forums

Spoiler

So, the basic logic here is that the developers don't come to these forums to interact anymore and don't get feedback from them, so they're closing the forums down. If we care at all about these boards, we need to speak out now.

1) DON'T BOTHER COMPLAINING HERE. Take to social media. Respond to Bioware's tweet. Link: https://twitter.com/...058847088508930  Go on their facebook. Take to reddit if you know how to reddit.

It may also be worthwhile to specifically tweet at Conal since he wrote the announcement and I believe he's in a community related position. https://twitter.com/ConalPierse

2) BE POLITE. Express a desire to keep the forums open, but don't call them names or attack them. Focus on what the forums mean to you and why you want them open and not how utterly stupid their reasoning is, honestly

If there was ever a time to create a social media account or interact with them elsewhere, I guess its now. Let's make ourselves heard, BSN!

In the social media I should look for the themes, here are all the in. But of course I understand. Need money and energy to maintain. If they have decided, unnecessary effort.

Reaction 1: "Hey, we decided not to interact here, so now we're going to close this place down because we don't interact here anymore."

What the hell? Why does Bioware constantly make such bad decisions, especially concerning PR and this forum? Here's a great idea, let's not have an official forum for our games at all! Even with ME:A coming out fairly soon! It's not like every single other company has one or anything.

But hey, it's okay, "Now we can travel around the world, meeting with you face-to-face at events like PAX, SDCC, and even shows in our own backyard." Because we couldn't travel the world a few years ago? Right, I'm sure all of us are just going to fly all the way to a convention! Because that's plausible. Are they freaking serious? Do they know how preposterous that is to say? And Youtube? Oh, yeah, loads of dev conversations and fan conversation happens there, right? *sigh* I wonder if they had this in mind since they closed off-topic...

And they have this backwards. They seem to think all this forum was ever for, all all gaming forums are for, is to talk to the devs. What about basic community interaction itself? That's the core, always has been. The only place they mentioned that that could possibly take place in any meaningful way is Reddit, and I have my issues with its style for this sort of thing. More importantly, we shouldn't have to go anywhere else. Having an official forum is standard for a reason.

Reaction 2: This is incredibly disheartening, and showcases Bioware's utter disconnect they have with fans. I don't do social media, I don't care about social media. You can't have any worthwhile discussion on Twitter. Reddit's layout is odd and impersonal. I find this forum much more social, to be honest. You can actually get a sense of people's personalities.

More importantly, I only *go* here! I know people here, sort of anyway. And since I'm basically a recluse, it's important to me to have some kind of interaction beyond my family, talking about things I like. This is ridiculous! I can't be the only one here who prefers this forum. I actually find it much, much more pleasant than most of the internet. But Bioware doesn't care about their community, they just want to be applauded on Twitter. They can't just let their community continue on here? Is that really too much? Don't punish us for the devs not visiting. That's not our fault.

And of course, this situation is perfect for them and terrible for us, in the sense that the people who love social media are the ones less likely to voice any concern, and the ones who don't - the ones who go here, can't voice concern.

This makes me a very, very sad Banshee.

What a bummer!  Like Banshee I loathe social medias and the mindless babbling that goes on there.  I wonder if there are other reasons behind this questionable move, besides the usual crass monetary considerations?
