Helps to have "Take It Slow" (gain XP at half the normal rate) enabled as well.
Okay, I have the trial on and I'm at Level 3 (if memory is correct). I should avoid turning in research, right? All the codex's that are in Haven could I buy them from that "book" seller in Val Royeaux?

I don't remember doing anything special to avoid obtaining XP.
Just focused on getting to Skyhold ASAP.
