Is that really the point? Yes, this may be fruitless. And it may not be. If we're gonna go down, at least we can try to not have it be with only a whimper.

This has been proposed. It looks like a workable forum.

https://realdragonagefans.forums.net/

Easy to remember URL. Has both Dragon Age and Mass Effect sections, though the 3 Mass Effect boards are nested within the off topic section in case you find them hard to spot.

registered here - looks ok. will give it a go. thanks :)

Guys, they're gonna close the forums down!

http://blog.bioware....ing-our-forums/

So, the basic logic here is that the developers don't come to these forums to interact anymore and don't get feedback from them, so they're closing the forums down. If we care at all about these boards, we need to speak out now.

1) DON'T BOTHER COMPLAINING HERE. Take to social media. Respond to Bioware's tweet. Link: https://twitter.com/...058847088508930  Go on their facebook. Take to reddit if you know how to reddit.

If you tweet, try #SaveBSN

2) BE POLITE. Express a desire to keep the forums open, but don't call them names or attack them. Focus on what the forums mean to you and why you want them open and not how utterly stupid their reasoning is, honestly

If there was ever a time to create a social media account or interact with them elsewhere, I guess its now. Let's make ourselves heard, BSN!

LMAO this reminds me about my "SAVE THE MILKYWAY" thread. People laughed at me in this forums. GOOD TO FINALLY SEE what it feels like to be thrown into the recycling bin. Then it only took 7 soon 8 warnings to get here

nothing is right with BioWare... AT ALL

They're not going to change their mind.

What we need to do now is figure out where we're going to rebuild.

Smart man.

In truth, most of the suggestions proposed have been somewhat unappealing to me overall.

Perhaps we need to get some heads together and see where the majority are heading, or follow the lead on some of those forums like Vroom or Top Shelf?

Is there any way to get a private chat with a group of people at all? Perhaps a skype call or twitch room with some names to talk about the next move? I think that might be the way to go.

And this is going to sound callous, but it should be a few people leading that if possible, not everyone.

I am putting together a team to salvage the forum content, and recreate the forum structure in another domain. I currently host at a server that has the forum software available for this and can handle large amounts of traffic.

Please drop by the thread if you'd like to help!

I've seen a few names floating around for the following forums:

Top Shelf Gaming

Vroom Social Network

Unofficial BioWare Social Network

Real DragonAge Fans

There were also suggestions for the official Reddit's to become a homebase, but  I tend to avoid reddit like a plague so i'm not going there regardless.

There may be more cropping up as time goes on. In truth I really do believe some of the top people on these forums need to get together and make a decision though collectively.

The thrid one looks good and the fourth one seems nice too. Still there is something I don't like about those two and I'm not sure what it is exactly.

I hope we find a place for the majority of us. It would be bad if a lot of us go to many different places.

That tends to happen when forums close down.

What people need to realize is that you can't just build rome in a day though. It will take time and effort really to do it, maybe even some endorsements from people out there too.

There's no point in trying to save it, there mind is made up already about them giving zero craps about the fans on here.

Sad news, this is my favourite forum. Anyway, it's a bit futile for them, they'll just have to open them up again eventually.

The future of games lie in their communities and those are best moderated by the creators.

The Paradox Interactive forums is proof to the success of interaction between developer and user, it's too good a tool to pass up and Bioware can't ignore that necessity forever.

This will be temporary, I predict.

And Bioware has the nerve to include the sentence "Our players are important to us." in the announcement.

Why should we believe their words when they are directly contradicted by their actions.

Their is no better source for information about playing Bioware games than these boards. Nothing comes close.

To my mind, it can't be a sub-forum of something else, that rules out Vroom and TSG for me.

It can't be targeted or named on one IP only because Mass Effect, DA and the new IP will rotate, so sorry that a no for Real DragonAge.

Reddit is not structured for long conversations, that's not the answer.

So far, only http://biowaresocial...ork.boards.net/ looks viable to me unless @Fexelea or others have any ideas.

The community will separate quite quickly so we require a practical answer fast (even if a subsequent better forum location comes later).

What is certain is it needs a viable (ideally existing) framework, building a forum is not an amateur activity (I know).

It will also need a good number of sensible moderators, including I suspect, posters on this thread.

Oh, and I don't think there is anything to save here, I don't think this decision will change.

So, I'm having some concerns about the creator of the biowaresocialnetwork. I've seen some posts that appear to be from a sock account of the creator, Cassandra, praising Cassandra. Some old timers here have said that this odd behavior is the norm for Cassandra? I don't know the full history of this person and their alt accounts and I'm not trying to bash the person. But, I don't want to throw my support behind an 'unofficial' BSN if the creator isn't....stable.

If that's going to be an issue, I'd rather wait on Fexelea to set up their version of the unofficial BSN even if that takes a bit more time. I don't know, I'm just trying to get a feel for the people that are setting themselves up as our new overlords.  :D

I should have the right formatting and forum subdivision by Monday. I'm trying to make sure I hit the right priorities so if we can back up user data from here it can coexist with the new forum, so s little bit of research.

Please give me 24 hours :)

Also please know I'm happy to welcome community members as moderators, we have an active forum with mods already for other games, and I'm sure that we can foster a constructive environment by working together - please don't hesitate to contact me and make requests, suggestions, or point out anything dumb I'm doing or missing!

Yeah...I don't like to bash other poster and Cassandra Saturne can be amusing (and absolutly terrifying.) But the last thing we want is ending up on a Cassandra Saturn forum. We'll all end up insane and murder each others.
