Add a Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric section.

... That's not very nice. lol

I agree it looks like they're pretty set in their decision, guys. I made this thread about 20 minutes after I found out about the announcement, when I thought there was a chance we could make our voices heard about it. But they're clearly already in damage control mode. Its happening. So, I do agree we focus on the future.

And go to their twitter/the appropriate threads and complain in the meantime.

Reaction 1: "Hey, we decided not to interact here, so now we're going to close this place down because we don't interact here anymore."

What the hell? Why does Bioware constantly make such bad decisions, especially concerning PR and this forum? Here's a great idea, let's not have an official forum for our games at all! Even with ME:A coming out fairly soon! It's not like every single other company has one or anything.

But hey, it's okay, "Now we can travel around the world, meeting with you face-to-face at events like PAX, SDCC, and even shows in our own backyard." Because we couldn't travel the world a few years ago? Right, I'm sure all of us are just going to fly all the way to a convention! Because that's plausible. Are they freaking serious? Do they know how preposterous that is to say? And Youtube? Oh, yeah, loads of dev conversations and fan conversation happens there, right?  *sigh* I wonder if they had this in mind since they closed off-topic...

And they have this backwards. They seem to think all this forum was ever for, all all gaming forums are for, is to talk to the devs. What about basic community interaction itself? That's the core, always has been. The only place they mentioned that that could possibly take place in any meaningful way is Reddit, and I have my issues with its style for this sort of thing. More importantly, we shouldn't have to go anywhere else. Having an official forum is standard for a reason.

Reaction 2: This is incredibly disheartening, and showcases Bioware's utter disconnect they have with fans. I don't do social media, I don't care about social media. You can't have any worthwhile discussion on Twitter. Reddit's layout is odd and impersonal. I find this forum much more social, to be honest. You can actually get a sense of people's personalities.

More importantly, I only go here! I know people here, sort of, anyway. And since I'm basically a recluse, it's important to me to have some kind of interaction beyond my family, talking about things I like. This is ridiculous! I can't be the only one here who prefers this forum. I actually find it much, much more pleasant than most of the internet. But Bioware doesn't care about their community, they just want to be applauded on Twitter. They can't just let their community continue on here? Is that really too much? Don't punish us for the devs not visiting. That's not our fault.

And of course, this situation is perfect for them and terrible for us, in the sense that the people who love social media are the ones less likely to voice any concern, and the ones who don't - the ones who go here, can't voice concern.

This makes me a very, very sad Banshee.

Spoken with true precision; I couldn't have stated the situation any better.

Complete and utter lunacy, this is.

That's not a slight against them, it's just reality. They moved on a long time ago and I'm fine with that, but why destroy our community space? This place was for the fans, it was driven by the fans, it only lasted so long because of the fans and now we're getting tossed to sea with no lifeboat?

I think that's the reason, actually: the forum is mainly fans talking to each others, and someone high up simply said "Not on our dime" and decided to pull the plug.

There's no point in trying to save it, there mind is made up already about them giving zero craps about the fans on here.

This is true.

However, as Theoden said "If this is to be our end, then I would have them make such an end, as to be worthy of remembrance."

At any rate, yes save the forums.

I guess whoever made the decision didn't realize how useful forums can be for the longevity of your game, selling DLCs, word-of-mouth, keeping people talking and interested between releases, and answering people's questions/documenting bugs etc. so people aren't instantly turned-off by the game.

BSN, huh? Words should have new meaning for all of us today... We can't be consumed by our petty differences anymore. We will be united in our common interest, and we will once again be fighting for our freedom - not from trolling, streamlining, or poor moderation - But from annihilation.

And should we win the day, the 26th of August will no longer be known as an American holiday (Women's Equality Day, who knew?), but as the day the forums declared in one voice:

We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish, without a fight! We're going to live on. We're going to survive. Today, we celebrate our Independence Day!

Wow, just read about this after being away for a while.  While I don't frequently post, I am usually still on the site learning new strategies I couldn't come up with myself.  I can't even quantify how much I've learned about Dragon Age from you guys by reading these forums.  Their attempt at listing other forms of social media to compensate for the closure is just laughable.  Those aren't forums, and serve a different purpose.

I'm sure I'll find some or most of you on another forum for the next Dragon Age.  So until then, cheers everyone.
