Believe me, I'm annoyed about this. I decided to channel that into making an alternate place for us, and I want to open this new site up as much as possible.

If anyone is interested, and people actually start using this. I will definitely be needing co-mods. Also, if anyone knows how to upload forum themes that would be helpful.

I will need somewhere else to hang my cape now. Without this forum, I risk depression, loneliness, insanity. I will happily join your forum, if you'll have me, Arti.

Though I don't think I'd be a very good moderator.

Ask me a week ago, I'd have said "good riddance," because I would have assumed that such a thing would never happen.

But I'm actually really sad. I've been commenting here since before ME2.

And this is really, really unprecedented. Are there any other major developers who don't have discussion forums for their games? This is bound to hurt them in the long run.

It'll surely hurt fanbase at least. Without BSN everything is just shattered along different social media sites.

should we set up shop elsewhere then?  TSG could use a bit of diversification

I'm measurably less excited for MEA now. Which is insane.

But even in the face of all the inevitable bullshit (not really interested in self-censoring anything at this point), I got a lot of satisfaction from discussing the games with folks here.

Well, it's working again now. I approved your registration, btw. I think it'll be okay. I hope. I'm not particularly good with managing this kind of thing, but here's hoping.

I think we could use the time to test out some options (not that I'm against your idea Arti, I don't know the website), but I can't think of many alternatives. Reddit has invite only groups, but I realise not everyone likes that format.

Also, I'll test that out (including mod functions, if you'll have me ;) ), when I have access to a connection that's not a spotty 3G one.

I'm not one for tech stuff, but I'll surely join up :)

You should join my alternate forum. :P

Also, have you already been alerted to TSG? It's annoying sometimes, but the mods are nice guys. If you're looking for a different place to gently rib the more aggressive variety of TW3 fans, it's a good secondary option.

Well, my heart is broken. I lurked on the BSN for years before I joined, and continued on here... I honestly have no idea where I'll find discussions like the ones I've had here. There's nowhere. Even a place for the RDF - which is lovely, Lady A, and I'll definitely be joining! - won't have all the familiar faces... god **** damn it, I am so upset.

This is the only accessible, easy to navigate place to discuss DA. Tumblr and reddit are toxic hellholes half the time, but besides that they're just no good for long-running discussion. Don't even get me started on Twitter, or... what, commenting on the official Bioware blog? Lmfao, yes, much discussion. Very talk. It's gonna be a long, lonely, boring as **** road to DA4.

And that's not even getting into the non-gaming discussions we've had, the friends I've made, people who aren't necessarily friends but I'm used to their presence. It's like we had our own weird little village going on. Now I guess the excitement is gonna be restricted to less than 140 letters..?

I feel bioware has lost sight of what this community is if they want to close it because employees don't post here anymore. Big whoop.

Have 3 other off-site groups bookmarked, haven't joined any of em yet. This really blows.

I only joined the new RDF forum because it's this group. I won't bother with anywhere else.

This baffles me more than anything. I have had ONE conversation with a dev during my time here, and it's not because they're jerks or I'm a jerk... they simply weren't present. And that's FINE. It's more than fine. I don't come here to talk to them, I come here to talk to my fellow fans, including friends that aren't necessarily fans anymore but still post..?

I know it's all a convenient excuse but it still hurts. Waiting for the forums to die an agonizing death one month from now is almost worse.

I just want to keep the sense of community we've built.

That's ultimately, the thing that we're most losing. There are people on this forum who I may not agree with, or even like, but who I'll miss in a way, because they represent the diversity of thought within the community.

It makes me really sad to think about it too much.

So, if they'd left the forums open until October, I could have been here for ten years.

I can understand what they're doing. For years now this place has hosted petty arguments, and all kinds of intolerance and provocation, and it's always been highly visible. I wouldn't want this place to be the official representation of a company I work for. Fixing that would take a lot of effort, which BioWare has clearly been unwilling to provide (I don't blame them for that either, assuming the cost involved), so I feel cutting the forum is probably actually the best option - from their perspective at least.

Not that that means it doesn't hurt.

I've been here a long time, and I've made and lost a lot of friends. Discussing BioWare games is actually a really weak foundation for a community, and over time people just get lost. So in a way I'm relieved, because we have time to say goodbyes, make arrangements if we want and actually have an ending.

I like endings.

That's definitely not what I expected to see when I came to the forums this morning. The forums have been acting weird for me on Chrome lately so maybe I should have taken that as a sign. And most of the alternatives people are offering like Tumblr, Reddit and Twitter are not only not conducive to lengthy discussions, I can't even go on those websites without a VPN! So I'm officially sad now.

that's not the real reason, that has been the case for as long as I've been on the forum
