Haven't registered for any of the new splinter forums yet other than RDF.

Likely skip the one based on clicking on that blog link. Had a quick look at the real dragon age fans & got sent a link to a zetaboards one which seems already live. Right now i'm still in the grief stage.

I don't want the RDF to become host to mass of people, but I also want it to be active enough that we can all stay in contact.

It was intended to be a respite from all the chaos of the rest of the Bioware community, right? Just keep it as that. Maybe even have links to the other replacement groups popping up to make it easier to navigate around the meta-network of forums we have going.

I've joined several, but I'm backing away from the "default" one (the one that's named BSN) because... yeah. Seems maybe... sketchy.

Just a word of warning guys, the manager/creator of the one being treated as a default replacement, can be a little sketchy.

You mean this one?

So far I like it.

the question for many of us now, is not what we do with the time that is left, but how much sh*t we can post on the last day.

If these forums are to be deleted I don't see any purpose in remaining unbanned.

There was just too much of that to read; anyone care to summarise her particular brand of crazy?

It's less of a brand and more of a...department store inventory.

Suffice it to say that she appears to have a lack of clear distinction between fantasy and reality.

extreme ego problems, created alt accounts to talk to herself, treated her own departures and returns to the forum as nothing less than an event worthy of its own distinction in the BC/AD system

........oooookay. Crazy like a franchise going out of style, understood. Best avoided.

I leave for five freaking minutes and everything ends up on fire, and the planet is about to be demolished?

When did this become an episode of Community or Hitchhikers? :?

Okay. I am now back from vacation and trying to catch up on most of what is going on before I crash from the jet lag and lack of sleep. Will definitely sign up for the one Lady A set up and keep an eye on the other links being passed around. I have my own thread community to try and preserve in the mean time.

It seems like fanforums have started to fight over BSNers. It's like titanic is sinking and everyone is trying to find lifeboats in panic.

I'm still undecided on my refuge. Lot of places just don't seem quite right. Well there is our group's forum of course that is nice, but I think I'll want to join another one as well. I wonder if I write some thoughts here will it be read and spread around? I did read quite bit of smack-talk in various fan-forums :P

I'm liking the suggestion of all of us having links to the other forums for people to gather. We'll be scattered either way, so it sense to just network as much as possible.

And registered. The only time I have almost no access to the internet and this happens.

I'm not one for conspiracy theories, the lack of MEA/DA4/IP news seemed to fit their new approach copied from Bethesda, but now I'm seriously worried something is going wrong at BW.

That's definitely a good idea. If all the groups keep an eye on each other we can share news at the very least. Every forum should have a news and announcements thread to make that easier.

Yeah, I think that's a great idea. I've joined almost every suggested fan forum just in case, but so far I'm most active at Real Dragon Age Fans (which also has an ME section) and our own Romance Defense Force. They're cozy and I see a lot of familiar faces, which is reassuring. I'm also holding out hope for Fextralife, since Fexelea seems to genuinely be trying to salvage as much of the BSN as possible (including post count! And I think they said something about using a scraper...).

That's my two cents, but honestly I've got an egg in every basket.

So I've been trying to find a way to preserve threads, and I've had some success. Using this little tool, after some struggle to get it to traverse pages, it's actually working. The downside is that I can either export the post content as html code (and it looks really messy), or as plain text, but then it's hard to tell where quotes end and all embedded links and images are gone.

It also exports in .CSV - Excel doesn't want to format it correctly (it reads all commas and cuts up posts), but Apple's Pages can. There I sort by date (because some posts are out of order), remove two trash columns used for pagination, export to pdf or excel, and you get:

pW4MB3d.png

I'll be looking for some more elegant ways to do it, but that's one method, and it works. It takes a while, but it can go through all pages of a thread. For anyone who wants to try it, here's the code for the tool:

Spoiler

And you replace addresshere with your thread URL. If you want to export HTML code of the posts, change the highlighted SelectorText to SelectorHTML.

Well, this is kind of sad (even if I'm not as active on here as I used to be). I did register up though for the new thing.  Any word on why they are closing the site down by the way?

I haven't really been active on the BSN for awhile because work is lame and takes up all my time, but I fully planned on being more active closer to ME:A release.

This news makes me sad. I've met so many nice, interesting and fun people on here. I'm going to miss this place. :(
