Wow, transferring the entire forum sounds like a tremendous undertaking! I really hope they're able to. As other people have mentioned, there's so much information on these forums that would be lost otherwise.

I have actually posted a way to export posts in this thread (page 3?). Once you set up the tool it collects the data by itself across the entire board, then you import the file into a new database, and you're done. And since all of the media content (pictures, video) is just links, everything should work. It just takes time (that tool has to visit every single page in a browser) and some boring work like matching usernames, but it's doable. I'm still going to export some of my favourite threads (including this place), just to be safe. I'll work on it a bit and see, if I can get it to export text and links within posts in a readable way.

Hah, I actually think it's pretty interesting. Sounds like a very useful tool! Though you could've said 'a wizard did it', and I'd be none the wiser.

Fexelea is a sweetheart, and very eager to coordinate with others in the community. She reached out to me immediately after I made the networking thread, offering me a chance to offer input on her site. You have to divide by likes given though to adjust for positive inflation.

 

 

You mean to account for likes received because of a like button clicker's desire to reciprocate. True, but then measuring the popularity of anything tends to have similar complications.

I'm all for a parallel community like this, but it might be better to piggy-back onto some other forum. Since BSN's most remarkable thing is it's lore focus, another lore forum for games would be welcome.

 

I've heard things about RPG codex. Not all good, but it's an established community with a breadth of games and topics about them. What I have heard suggests that lore is a selling point- and that's what we all are, right?

 

I'm creating an account there- same name and all- so hopefully I'll see you there. I've seen some familiar faces there already.

Okay, the new RDF is looking pretty good. Thanks to a few of our resident code savvy members have done great stuff with themes, and I have every confidence we'll only continue to improve.

 

Now we just need to increase foot traffic. As nice and cozy as it feels, we can always use plenty of activity. Share with the word with anyone and everyone you think would enjoy the place and who you'd like to have around.

 

Damn, this sucks! I tried to write a good bye post in the Sera thread, got so emotional

I deleted my account once and wanted to delete it again but I'm glad I couldn't. There were difficult times for me but the wonderful times brought me some great memories and really good friends. This is so sad.

 

I hope you'll consider hanging out in the new RDF forum, Dani. We'd love to have you.

Thanks, Lady Artifice, I will tomorrow, I'm a bit tired tonight but so happy. I had been kind of down but I had a wonderful night tonight, it really picked up my spirits. Went to a club and made some hopefully new friends and danced the night away, I'm so excited.

I was happy for the first time in a long time just twenty four hours ago but now I fear I'm losing a friend. Hopefully I'm overreacting, it is my biggest fault. I went to bed happy and woke up and was soon depressed. I've lost too many friends, I don't want to lose another. Anyway I don't feel like being around people, I wouldn't be good company.
