Jennifer Hale is awesome! (or why I miss lesbian romance in ME2)

But more importantly in ME (both 1 and 2), if you play a female Shepard, you get Jennifer Hale's voice! So much better than the male actor, IMO.
In most Bioware games, I'll play them multiple times, and generally split between male and female to see all the story outcomes that vary depending on your gender (generally just romances). Gives the opportunitey to also try good/evil, light/dark or paragon/renegade differences, also. Like I played a full game of Dragon Age as male to see the Morrigan stuff, but given the choice, me, personally I would choose Leilani over Morrigan, so the fact that you can do that as female in that game means my "default" Warden is female. Same as in ME 1 - I would probably choose Liara over Ashely, so given you can do that also as female, my main Shepard is female. Same outcome as if I played a guy, and I also get to look at a female form and listen to Jennifer Hale!
After finding out about definitely no lesbian romances in ME 2, I'm leveling up my Ashley character in ME 1 today (level 45 - had 2 saves - one where I hadn't gone to Ilos, one where I had - I started over by not going to Ilos - as I plan to replay once more after to redo all the quests how I want to, as I forget many of my choices, to be honest).
Whoever does the voice acting for male Shepard doesn't come even close to the quality of Jennifer Hale, IMO. Even though I'll play this male character through ME 1 at least one more time after finishing this game, and probably play him through ME 2 twice (if not 3 times, as I'm intrigued by how a romance with either Tali or Jack would play out - Miranda not so much, though I'm sure I'll play through once to see it), my "main" Shepard is still going to be the female one with the Liara romance carrying over.
I'm curious if anyone else feels that way? I don't play female characters as I would think a female would, as I'm essentially playing "me", just with a female avatar. While a lesbian relationship with EVERY romance option isn't even close to being story realistic, selfishly I'd like it so I could look at a female back side and get to hear Jennifer Hale over the male actor every time.
I'm not sure why, but the male voice actors in Bioware games are sometimes very grating. Male Shepard, Carth/Kaiden - main characters I'd prefer not to listen to, for certain. I always save Ashley (except once), because I knew from early on the ME 1 save would transfer (and assumed the ME 2 save would, also), and by not saving Kaiden I knew I could prevent Carth from appearing in ME 2 and ME 3.

I'm very glad that Bioware recruited her.

I played through Mass Effect seven times: five of them as "femshep." Commander Shepard will always be female to me.

!! EXACTLY!
I get so tired of people deciding that I've 'caught the gay' because I prefer to play as a female character, as if watching another man's rear (even if he is your avatar) for upwards of 30 hours is the most hetero thing in the world...
Even if none of my girlie characters spoke, I'd still play as female... but that voice... itsa very good voice, oh yes and I don't just mean because of the inherent sexiness of the voice... although there is that thrown into it. Male voices in this kind of game are always such an annoying caricature of manliness, although not always as bad as some (gta4... Brucie... yeek) but the voice of She-pard? That's a real person's voice. There's strength in that voice, but no badass bull**** facade, it's Shepard as she naturally is, no unnecesary bravado.
Is there a Jennifer Hale fanclub? Not that I really join fanclubs... but I'd be tempted in this case.
As a side note.... oh my fuzzy gerbil! Just looked her up on wikipedia... she is ALL of my favourite game women. Damn.

Sheperd may be male by default, (On the box) But it's Hale who breathes life into the character.
Male Shep is much better this time around. In ME to be honest it was mostly just this droning, almost sleepy monotone.
Like I said, he's a lot better now, but to me the "damage" of that first outing is done. To me the real Shep is female.

My room mate is playing a Maleshep on the Xbox while I play a Femshep on my computer, so I've gotten used to hearing his Renegade Mark Meer voice, and it's actually rather amusing.

To me it seems like Shepard will always be a woman sporting Hale's wonderful and sexy voice
As for the lack of lesbian romances, at least you can flirt a little with Kelly. I haven't come across Liara yet, but I hear I shouldn't expect much in the way of carrying on my character's romance with her?
