Just make it look more like this site and less like a stock SMF forum made by a pack of wild six year olds high on HTML..

This site looks similiar to BSN. It currently has over 80 members

Gave you a like for your avatar. He's my favorite actor

I can't help with anything, but I'm totally in support of this.

Or even wherever the majority of this place migrates to. I've loved reading all your posts, conversations and I...  :crying:

Let's try to do our best to stay together.

This thread has been moved to a more appropriate location. As we want people to still be able to connect with one another and discuss future plans, this thread will remain open so long as it obeys the site rules.

Then why are you closing the forums? Everything you say is contradictory.

Wherever we end up we don't need to decide definitively right now.

I think we certainly don't want to be some sub-forum of something else.

Nor a 'short-form' board like Reddit or Twitter.

So 'new home' needs to be a real forum for 'fans of' BioWare IP.

If 2 or 3 contender sites emerge then they should be tested through use during the coming weeks.

Once it has become obvious which site has held the interest of most of the community,

the other groups should cede and join in.

By the time MEA launches, we should as much as possible be able to be in one place.

I'll be honest. One of the big pluses for me with this forum was the moderation. It made discussions WAY less nasty than I've seen elsewhere.

Sorry, catching up. How is the progress on finding or creating a new forum going?

I see that she has 10,002 posts now so I don't think she's banned (or at least not anymore...maybe is was a joke?).

I really was permabanned at 9,999 posts last night. That was reversed earlier this afternoon when my case was reviewed and punishment was determined far out of line for infraction. So, I live again. It definitely was not a joke... it's been a stressful two days for me.

As always, if more than three people get the joke, than I have failed.

In case you missed the silver lining. Yes. Less like topshelf and vroom. They look like they were made by a pack of wild six year olds high on HTML.

Still better than realdragonagefans.

I know it's incredibly superficial of me but basically this. Readability is a huge factor in my ability to participate in a forum, and most of the alternatives suggested so far are (imo) completely unreadable. They're too busy, too dark, and the fonts too small. Maybe I'm just getting old, but I feel like something like BSN has would be ideal, it's easy to read, easy to follow, doesn't pull at my ADHD with a bunch of unnecessary side images, and I don't have to lean in towards my monitor to read it. There might be some great people/discussions on those boards but I wouldn't know it because I just can't get past the first pages.

I started writing a forum scraper yesterday , parses through the BSN and extracts forum posts, users who made the posts, users likes and stores it in a database. With how busy work is, I will probably finish it in a 1/2 a month or so. If any forums wanted, they could use this tool to migrate the BSN data.

When you have time, please create a software program that allows me to have your babies.

If it can make me gay too, that would probably help, but is definitely not a dealbreaker. I'm pretty much ready to make it happen regardless.

I know the solas thread would be interested in that. How long would  a 6000 page thread take?

Also, the Lore Forum.

I just tried to follow the link in Cassandra's post and got a "Uhhhh . . . We were unable to locate the forum . . ." message. So something's up. Maybe the name isn't quite right, I don't know . . .

I'll keep an eye on this, but I dunno if I'm even that interested in talking about Bioware products anymore. I used to be the go-to in most of my circles too.

*Update *

I had an hour free to toy with the tool.  I am able to extract forums with their associated sub forusm with the tool. Tomorrow I will extract topics and the day after I will start extracting posts.

I agree. If I can make a request, please keep it simple and clean, arial font, light and dark themes if possible.

I guess what i'm after is just a carbon copy of this site or as close to it as you can get.

I looked at some of the other sites and they're all "off" to me in various degrees and it's distracting.

I realise that data transfer and a site that functions in the same way are more pressing issues but when it comes time to think about design, consider this my personal input (whatever that's worth) :)

I'm against the utter destruction of all the content here. There are great debate threads that have produced outstanding fan theories. I don't want those lost in oblivion.

For those interested in design, I am working on a redesign for our boards in general - this forum closure just happened in the middle of it.

As a sneak peak of the simplified design, this is what the forum would look like later

(Early stages - the contrast is off and such because I'm working on stuff still.)

Our Wikis have a theme switcher, and I'll add one to forums too in the future - just can't right now because revamp + migration + cross-commenting needs to happen first xD

I spit out some food, this was A+

However, I had the bloody ending for Star Wars 7 spoiled by reading a Youtube comment. It wasnt even for a video on star wars either, just upvoted on reddit.

Of course, from now on with something like that I've learned my lesson, so I doubt ME would be spoiled for me personally, however, I would not be surprised if this stupid decision from Bioware leads to tens of thousands of people having the ending spoiled. ME is just that kind of game with intrigue and mystery where maintaining a moderated zone is important to prevent spoilers.

"Bioware.... I'm not mad, just disappointed".
