[Copied from the Bioware forums announcement

After great consideration, we are closing down the BioWare forums, effective August 26, 2016. The Star Wars: The Old Republic forums will continue to operate; however, our public boards for Dragon Age, Mass Effect, and legacy BioWare titles will no longer be available.

This wasn’t an easy decision.

Our players are important to us. Your feedback, stories, and love for our games drive and inspire us.

In the past, our forums were the only way we could speak to you directly. They allowed our developers to talk with fans, and gave our players the opportunity to talk with each other about our games. But with the rise of social media and geek culture, there have never been more ways for us to connect.

Now we can travel around the world, meeting with you face-to-face at events like PAX, SDCC, and even shows in our own backyard. We can share stories with you on the go, giving you a look behind the scenes on sites like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram.

In turn, you’ve built your own fantastic communities in places like Tumblr and Reddit. You’ve created comprehensive Wikis and countless pieces of fantastic art, fiction, and cosplay.

With so many great things so widely available, our developers today find themselves spending more time on other sites, and less time in our own forums. And to our fans and players who came to those boards looking to talk to us, it was a great disservice.

So it is with a heavy heart that we will close our public forums on August 26, 2016. We will maintain some private boards, and may use these in future for beta feedback or other special projects.

Because we know there is a lot of information on there you may want to keep, the public boards will remain in a read-only state until October 25, 2016. After that date, they will be taken down.

While we are saying goodbye to this venue, we remain committed to our community and will always be here to listen, share, and support you. Online and in person, we will continue to seek out opportunities to interact and share in our combined love of games.

While I wouldnt presume to speak for neverwintervault.org, I wouldnt be surprised if they were willing to add a set of BG forums if BG forumites here asked (Presuming the BG community doesnt already have another place to go). The site is owned and run by members of the Neverwinter Nights community.

Yes, quite surprising and quite sad; I hope we can find a new forum together, I'm quite certain that especially the no-reload community would like to continue sharing their adventures with each other.

Indeed. And the closest option IMO is the Beamdog forums even though their no-reload thread has more ... relaxing rules.

i'll repost this here:

Unofficial Bioware Forums: http://biowaresocial...ork.boards.net/
she's working on it to preserve all threads and copying everything over as an backup information so all forum users can migrate to the unofficial forum when the whole forum is shut down on August 26th

Wow, that's nice alternative. But they need to copy The Legacy Games Forum (empty at the moment) as well so we, Baldur's Gate no-reloaders, could post our adventures there.

While on vavation, I've come across this bad news.

I can offer to use Beamdog boards as an alternative - the BG no-reload thread there. https://forums.beamd...ad-perspective/

That forum is live and there're no-reloaders there.

Sorcerer's Place has been around since 1999; we're hosting hundreds of fan-submitted files among other IE-content like walkthroughs, official patches etc. We've also got pretty big BG forums, so anyone's more than welcome to migrate to our community: http://www.sorcerers...unity/index.php

Unlike most other here today-gone tomorrow communities where your content won't last longer than a few years at best, our track record speaks for itself. ;)

Reposted from the main announcement thread:

Wow. :(

Considering I've been with BioWare since back in the BG days, moderating with Interplay before Bio had boards then moving over to Bio on their forum launch, this is going to be a big shock to my system. I'm here every day, and even though I don't interact as much as I once did, not having these boards to visit is going to take some getting used to.

It was bound to happen sooner or later, but it's sad. I've seen so many come and go from Bio staff (and moderators) over the years. At least I'll be able to say I was here from the beginning to the end.

Hope y'all will find yourself a home elsewhere that you can enjoy. Thanks for being here. B)

[Edit] And just a note: It appears all the volunteer moderators have been removed as of yesterday, without warning. The announcement was the first time we heard about this.

Beamdog is your best bet since they are keeping the BG series alive.

BG was alive and well long before beamdog decided to cash in on it by copying and pasting tutu and adding poorly written characters to the game, and would still be doing just as well without them. I'll go elsewhere thanks.

I slightly disagree with your last sentence. ;] Migrating both No-Reloads to Beamdog forums and showing all of them noobs there how awesome original game looks and plays with widescreen mod installed is worth it. ;]
