Psh, I've seen hundreds of cool nerd things die over the years, I've lost track.

There's plenty of awesome Bioware fans... I was never worried about them even though they are here finding a place to share in Bioware love and joy... I know for the most part many of them are already intimately connected via other channels as stated, twitter, tumblr, etc.
 
This place on the other hand was basically nothing but toxicity and just about everyone here knows it.

As already stated people like Mike Laidlaw, Aaron Flynn, etc, dozens of other people we don't hear about are all capable cool people, Bioware isn't "dead," they're still going to make really cool games and stuff and things that appeal to core fans. 

 

For me personally I was more attached to kind of the wild edge of Bioware, the Dragon Age 2, the ME3 ending, the precise things that were subject to all the hate and criticism, so the things that were lost affected me more than most I suppose.

 

Like it sounds crazy but I used to listen to interviews with Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk just over and over just to like feel good because they were so calm and friendly.

Anyway I guess my "ahahahah!" sounds like I'm maybe crass and offensive since there plenty of Bioware fans who have been nothing but positive and as stated maybe really like this place. As stated, I doubt I've had anything to do with this one way or another, but if it were me, I would make a point of apologizing to them... which I guess they did.... 

 

...and at the same time just feel completely confident that overall it's the right decision, and that everyone will end up in a better position. 

 

Heck I myself made a lot of posts here, but I won't miss them... if Bio can finally just be more itself than it's worth it, IMHO. 

 

This place ultimately, despite some positive elements, had 2 primary purposes

 

1) Criticizing your opinion

2) Ignoring your opinion

 

There's no value there.

I feel lucky that i had the chance to meet some really awesome people around here and some who i don't know particularly well but still managed to make me laugh regularly (i'm looking at you two, ryncol sipping krogan and Ray Jessel fan!) hopefully, i was able to do the same for someone else.

What?! I honestly don't get this train of thought, maybe it's because I've only been here for a year but from what I've experienced BSN is probably the least toxic forum I've ever been on. Furthermore sites such as Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook, and even YouTube(especially YouTube) are far more toxic than BSN could ever hope to be....well at least from what I've experienced.

 

Overall I'm just really sad to see this place go, BSN was my refuge when I wanted to get away from the toxicity of YouTube or the Bungie forums, even when I disagreed with people I often found myself liking there posts anyways simply because they were so well thought out or made me laugh. It's only on this site that I could witness fans having passionate debates about Asari having eyebrows or watch a thread on whether the Viddasala's actions were authorized reach 50+ pages.

 

On other social media platforms you simply can't get the same level of discussion or passion that I've experienced here, truly I'm going to miss all of you, hopefully I see some of you guys on other sites such as TSG or realdragonagefans, if not then I bid you all a fond farewell it has been a pleasure *Drowns himself in a pool of Ryncol*

Ok first... unless you have dirt on someone high up in BW or shares in the company I honestly doubt you were the reason the site is being shut down... it will have been a marketing/development decision (short sighted in my opinion but they are the ones stumping up the cost so....)

 

Second... I've been to plenty of forums some for very very short visits because of the level of **** posting, bullying out of hand trolling and often really nasty **** being said about individuals or sections of our society and although there were a fair number or trolls on here, sorry guys but you know who you are, and some heated arguments and the terms 'sjw' were thrown around probably a bit more than was warrented in some threads these forums are a cake walk in comparrision...

 

As for the discussions on here destroying something you love? that you posted in a later? (sorry if i misquoted) well my connection to Mass Effect and feeling about it could never be dented by anything anyone on this forum said but then I guess I'm quite good at not reading or engaging with the threads that I'm not enjoying having a chat or a bit of banter in...

 

So I guess my TL:DR comment was that I've always been casual visitor here but I don't recognise your description of it being nothing but toxicity, it was also home to a group of people who truly love the ME universe and who were killing time until the next installment... that was my experience anyway
