that's it. That's the question.
Do we actually know - is there actually going to be a dragon age 4?

We don't. I think the last official word we had about DA is that they were waiting for it to be greenlit, I dunno if anyone mentioned that it had been, they might've. A developer shutting down it's official forums while offering absolutely no recourse is making me itch too.

It's not looking good for anything right now. When you have your senior devs leaving and now shutting down your public forums, it doesn't give people a warm fuzzy. At this point, Bioware could sink into the abyss and I could care less.

I must admit it is worrying considering they are closing the whole Forum, that includes Mass Effect: Andromeda. You'd think they'd want that up and running because of they way people can get enthused about the up coming game while talking about it, even if the writers don't actually look at the forums any more. Yet they will be closing down the site entirely during the lead up to release of that game, so you can't even use it as a reference point. This was always my first port of call if I wanted to find out if there had been any new announcements. Even when there are press releases you often don't get much detail. It has always been good to see other people's reactions, if nothing else to gauge if I have misunderstood something.
Keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't mean the end of Thedas but simply that resources are being focussed elsewhere.

Well, I certainly hope so. I need to know what happens to Solas and the elves and most importantly my Inquisitor Lavellan! Won't be the same when I won't be able to discuss the game with other fans here, though.

The official explanation in the big post on it is that the forums, while they provide for player-to-player interaction in a way the players find meaningful, do not provide player-to-developer or developer-to-player interaction in a way the developer finds meaningful, and since the forums are, ultimately, the developer's, and player-to-player interaction can be found elsewhere (albeit not necessarily in the same form), there is little purpose in keeping them open. What are the actual developers saying about the disbandment of the forums? We've got ex-employees giving their opinions (not great ones) but so far, I haven't heard anything from someone who actually works on building the games.
I find it disappointing, but not necessarily illogical.
I also am in the "this doesn't bode well for BW as an entity, and I think there's probably going to be some pretty bad ME:A news come September" camp.

I don't know it there will be a DA4 or no but imho that's what happen when you use all these returning characters for fan service and regurgitate the same concepts instead to use fresh ideas and you drag pieces of plots for too long without resolving them.

I don't like this concept of cliffhangers it make the whole game pointless DAI was used just to set up Solas.

I'm almost sure there will be. EA wouldn't give up on it. It's the second biggest BW franchise and DA:I was successful enough.

DA:I was a big success. One of the dev's posted a pic on twitter not too long ago of some mysterious folder. My guess is was probably the DA 4 proposal. EA would likely greenlight it pretty quickly. So figure 5-6 years down the road. Likely before the current gen consoles are about to end their lifecycle.

With the way the Trespasser dlc ended there is going to be a sequel, only question is when it will be announced. If the game sold poorly and did not meet expectations that one could we worried about there not being a sequel but from what I know DA:I sold well so I expect a sequel.

Really, we shouldn't read anything into the closure of the forum except that Bioware doesn't put much value in the forum.
It really doesn't reflect much about the company as a whole especially given how little interaction the devs have offered, to them it probably seems inconsequential. As much as that annoys us, I don't think it indicates much if anything about the status of the company or any specific project.
