Yeah I know, it's a basic phpbb forum, nothing like this one. It probably won't contain the themed challenges as they found their new home with Prestacious (and I just noticed that the Solo HoFs, too, I was willing to copy that with the founders' blessings or with them), but I plan to copy the Resource Library there, however long it takes, if I can get DragonRacer's permission (I think contacting each writer would be futile, some of them aren't active anymore, but I don't want to steal). The only thing I can promise with the forum is that I will work on it, the basic functions can be applied there, too. Also, nothing fishy with this one (except during registration you have to accept an indoctrination chip, C. Talavi will contact you for your head size details) , coughcough I mean I want nothing than an ordinary, easy to use forum where this community can survive and we can continue discussing the game in the same friendly fashion we did here in the MP section. Currently it is a free version, so some extras (nothing essential) are locked, but if more people fancy this forum than I expect to, than I am willing to switch and pay for the 10 dollar subscription version, unlocking things and allowing larger userbase.

If nobody likes it, then fine, I am not going to lose sleep over it, as it is free for me at the moment and that means everybody else has found their place elsewhere.

To the mods: I'm going to copy this to some relevant topics. Don't delete it for spamming or advertising or under some other excuse. It is nothing more than an information piece, and as the whole place is going to close, I think that would be a major butthole move. So please, leave this comment alone.

Prestacious has a new forum and site, I don't do themed challenges unless someone asks but I reckon the overall maturity and respectability of anyone who joins the new site will be pretty legit.

Sadly I think all of these splinter forums will ultimately not recapture what we've got here because they're all lacking something that the BSN has: A constant flow of new blood from fans of BioWare games looking for information about their games.

I'm just not sure how one works around that with a fan made forum.

I think that captures the fundamental issue with so many splinter sites. I initially started prestaciouschallenges.com to be an archive for the hofs in multiplalyer, but it's turned into much more than that, with a forum as well. I'm hoping for a way to capture the essence of the forum there (starting with probably a new title for the page, to attract new players looking for discussion and strategy as well as a place to challenge themselves if interested. Anyway feel free to check it out! Smehur has also created a thread for feedback. Any and all feedback is appreciated.

The one in the MP section was removed, so I wanted to make sure people in here knew about the one in the Andromeda section. I'm hoping to get him hooked up with Malloc, who has an app parsing the data in the forums.

The first page here makes me feel like I'm surrounded by infomercials and everyone's trying to sell something. Yall need to calm down, get some air and clear your head. There's still quite some time before the forums are closed so I fail to see what all the rush is about. Secondly I'd echo the sentiment that you better be careful with your private info before hurrying up to join all these alternate sites. It's the internet, **** happens, don't get caught with your mouth open.

 

Another thing I'm curious myself is the stagnation of these new boards after a while because unlike BSN which is a popular site and commonly comes up on internet searches about the games, these new forums are practically unknown and there isn't gonna be that constant trickle of new people signing up like they do here. People are eventually gonna get bored, be inactive or move on. I think it remains to be seen how effective these new sites turn out to be.

 

As for me, I'm gonna see how this all turns out and wait a bit for things to settle. Cyonan's site looks good though as of now although I've always wanted a gif avatar

Everyone is spreading apperantly. The mighty AHF has gone somewhere private too... people are gathering in stupid cliques instead of getting together as much as possible. Im temped to say F it all. To all the cliques, haters and what not, NOTHING is worth ones health, that much is certain.

Im not trying to get pity, AT ALL, but I have a heart surgery this monday, semi big and so far this forum and a lot of people has caused me LOTS of stress, stress I didnt need and which was silly. Im hot headed I know but I also know im not a bad person, I mean well, I dont wish anyone anything bad. I wasnt gonna come back and post anymore but I got a very sweet message from Gecko which made me come back. This is not worth it though, this place is toxic, all the highschool clique ness, im 37 and i feel like im in a popularity contest sometimes, its so freaking ridicilous.

I might post or i might not post again but my main goal is to avoid the stupid AHF, BSN and all the haters around. Thank you to the people who stood by me though, the good friends I made along the way. If I dont post again.. Then just.. thank you.

U are aware we are talking about internet forum of a computer game! Most of us wont meet or socialize with each other the proper way ( having a beer or a barbecue or both)!

We're dotting this thought around, and I'm hoping it starts to get traction over the next day or two.

 

I can understand the panic mindset that people seem to be acting under. Historically, we don't get much warning when BioWare makes changes like this. A month seems simultaneously like a long and short time. People are thinking in terms of sorting out an answer before the forum is locked, and it is no longer possible to use the forum to make alternate plans. And that makes some sense, but on the timescales we're discussing, there is enough time to sit back and process for a few days before settling on any particular answer.

 

And, to some extent, I don't think it is either possible or desirable to maintain the BSN community together in some cohesive form. That is sad, but the biggest concern for me is the preservation of the information value added to the games (ie ME 3 MP.) It is the devaluation of BioWare's products (which we own and therefore have a vested interest in the value of) that we have the power to prevent. So it's more important to me that we establish a repository for the information stored here that addresses functionality issues before worrying about where I can spam animal gifs (although that is important, too.)

 

So I'm hoping I can hit a magic button that marries Malloc's parsed forum data with Cyonan's forum (or an attached one.)

I'm not sure how Internet drama got this much power over you, but it actually sounds kind of dangerous. Let it go. Get away from this stuff for a while and live in the real world. None of this matters.

OWA - good luck with the surgery, and please take this as constructive advice from someone who knows the importance of avoiding stress for health-related reasons. It is entirely possible to disengage from any emotional involvement with people who simply share an interest in games, at least in terms of interaction on a public forum. I don't know who the 'haters' on BSN are, because it's a word I dislike intensely. It tends to be a label thrown out in haste when there are simple disagreements. Well, that and the fact that it forms part of the most banal song lyrics I've ever heard - thanks Taylor.  If people agree with me, fine. If they don't, fine. In my time here I've blocked a single God-awful poster who rejected all help (LuckyFeckinStarr) and had one minor altercation with one of your friends, who regularly makes posts I would describe as toxic in intent. I warned him that I would only discuss game mechanics in future and we manage to get on just fine now, even if I still don't always appreciate his posting style. I tend not to take sides in arguments unless they are semi-humorous (Claymore over Wraith, all day, every day - that kind of thing.) And honestly, I barely even believe in the concepts of objective reality or truth, so why would I get upset by the words of a stranger? As SMR reminded me the other day, in all probability I'm just a simulated NPC. Ah well, might as well chill and maybe roll another number for the road... 

 

I've made friends here and I'll undoubtedly lose some of them when this place closes. I've yet to decide where I'll go next, or if I'll just stop completely. It's been home for me here for almost four years, and I don't use Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, Instagram, Tumblr or any other sites for people I view as either imbeciles or tolerant of popularity contests I refuse to engage in.

 

In the meantime, I'm still GruntKitterhand on both PSN and to a lesser extent Xbox Live, and this is still my favourite forum on the internet, at least for another couple of weeks.
