Also, something I noticed from my own game then watching others on youtube, at the ending scene if you save everyone it seems that Legion, Jack, Grunt, and Garrus are the squad members that are shown as you walk by them. I'm thinking that they're the ones that will hang around for ME3 (as squad members) if you save them and/or everyone.

I sure hope not. Garrus and Legion? Sure. Jack and Grunt? No thank you. Both of them were extremely forgettable. Tali and Mordin were much more interesting (and in Tali's case, way more developed as a character).

Well I never said they wouldn't be around. Methinks if my theory is correct they would still be occupying their current stations on the Normandy in ME3, but they would not be squad members.

I took Tali on Legion's mission, but I never thought about doing the opposite.

I may have to try that during my new playthrough.

Definitely recommended. I hope that decision transfers over to ME3. Perhaps it can help make a better impression on some quarians so that they'll be less likely to go to war.

That would be an interesting way to handle the "anyone can die in ME2" situation, and would actually allow Bioware to develop their characters more. They could take the most popular characters from ME2 and, if they survived in your save, keep them on the Normandy, just not as a squad member. They could still retain the squad member-like dialog progression too.

That's quite possibly the best idea I've heard for ME3 so far. I applaud you good sir!

Yea, I pretty much knew that the Quarians were at fault for the war with the Geth from ME1. It's the generic story that everyone knows. 1) Race creates synthetics to do work making the creators lazy and dependent. 2) Synthetics become intelligent and self-aware. 3) Synthetics ask for respect/freedom. 4) Creators get scared and try to destroy them. 5) Creators lose because they've become complacent/lazy/dependant.

Anyway. We now know that the Geth that were fighting you/Quarians are actually heritics, and they've been dealt with (either destroyed or reprogrammed). I'm thinking that the Quarians and Geth will get back together in ME3 and the Quarians will get their homeworld back.

Then all the races (Geth included) band together to fight the invading Reapers. GAME OVER!

I personally enjoyed the story anyway. Legion is an awesome character as well.

So, basically I just have to leave Tali's and Legion's loyalty missions open post IFF and just eat the inevitible loss of Normandy's crew?

I think I can live with that.

Ah, you misunderstood me.

I was referring to Tali and Mordin when I said they would still be on the Normandy but not as squad members. I still think Legion, Jack, Grunt, and Garrus will be on the team in ME3 because of that ending sequence.

I don't think it is a good idea to keep introducing alot of new squad members in every game or the older characters won't be able to develop further since you're spending less time with them or so. So for ME3 I think 4 to 2 new squad members is best, but the rest should be returning from either game.
