No. I just know if you can't accept or tolerate something, and act on that, then you are wrong and you are making the world a worse place. That was this place, and they made the world a worse place, and are bad, disgusting people.... well "people." I should say... more like animals.

I was referring to the phenomenon where people, who knowingly and accept some kind of caustic back and forth because they con sensually agree to it, which doesn't have anything to do with gaming or toxicity per se but rather a person's understanding of their own strengths and limitations vis-a-vis another person.

Some women on Reddit, like to be told they are a worthless deranged ****** or something, and they set up an arrangement with a guy that does that to them. Is that toxic? Well it's not inspiring, but if they agree to it, well they agree to it.

That's why people can refer to "toxic" environments like reddit as being worse, when in theory it looks worse, but since those are consensual arrangements in many instances they aren't problematic like here, which wasn't. This was just triggered **** holes who wanted to destroy something more powerful to them, probably on orders from their profoundly moronic and worthless trophy wife/husband scumsucking maggot entities.

I don't think this place was ever quite that bad. Weird as all get-out maybe, but really, this place is practically a Disney-themed petting zoo compared to a lot of other forums out there.

What if BioWare is worried their game might not be that good, or at least that good enough to please the crazy expectations of this forum. Remember last time when ME3 was getting all the crazy backlash? No place was more vocal and quoted in other media.

                                                                                     <<<<<<<<<<(0)>>>>>>>>>>

The ME3 backlash was all over the place, not just here. No, there is another reason... a nefarious one, I'm thinking.

We will see how the marketing propaganda goes and how successful it is. But, pay attention to advertorial pieces in game magazines.... You'll know them by all the love they have for the game. Words like exciting, deep, refreshing, choices, freedom, Mako, romance..... but nary a word on game load times, manual saves, keyboard remapping, improved gui, or the dumb down combat.

You really are assuming I actually care about you in any way, which is weird. If you don't want to answer my question, fine, but don't make the same mistake twice, please.

This place was not too much worse then other game dev forums. This place was not cancerous ever with the exception of the ME3 ending fiasco, which as stated was not restricted to here. Nothing stopped Bioware from interacting with their fans on this site.

Bio is finally finishing the ME3 ending wars with a surprise attack in peace time?

Its what I would do.

There had to be no small amount of money thrown into developing and maintaining this community. It seems scoffable that better dev fan interaction was the intent of the move to BSN from the older forums. With that in mind, if that investment and intent couldn't be monetized whose fault is that? Unless there is a marketing scheme here besides sloughing. Maybe ME:A MP is a co-op (VR)MMO Mass Effect : Second After Alien Life? Devs and fans can play missions or meet at Darkstar Andromeda. Unlimited mp mob missions with purchase. Unlimited co op storyline and Ark Presidium access $10/mo. Event fees separate. Public and Private Ark Presidium rooms forming new virtual communities. How much does someone get paid for this job?

I think he thinks Bioware thinks we'll think Andromeda might suck, so they're being proactive by shutting this place down before ME3-style hate is spewed at them all over again.

If you can read that out loud with a straight face and no pausing........I'll bake you a cake.

That is true actually, though it's hard trying to figure out the Community Teams motives at this time

Yeah, in light of the pretty lax moderation(even when Priestly and Woo were moderating), this place wasn't really all that bad all things considered, and believe me, you could get away with a lot at times.

They are probably expecting similar backlash as ME3 and DAI got so nuking forums before hand seems like good option for them. Sadly it also makes awaiting for game lot less fun while also making harder to find news of the upcoming game and after game is released it makes it harder to find community given fixes for bugs and clitches as well as quest and build help. And it does nuke the fandom, but well at least BW has to deal with less backlash so all good.

Could be, who really knows.
Been saying that the lack of info being released for the game, is a bad sign. Guess we will find out in like 6 months.

If that's the real reason, it doesn't inspire much confidence in the quality of ME:A.

(and makes me think that perhaps those speculative threads about the people who left Bioware for mysterious reasons had a point)

Agreed.
Killing off the forum is bullshit, and doesn't really help the community at all.
If this is just "we don't like criticism, so we will eliminate as much as we can" move, then this is pretty much the end of Bioware. Trying to silence the voice of your fans (good or bad) isn't a good thing.

One thing I picked up from Bio is that if something has no value to them it gets rejected.

I guess a fan based forum has no value, today.

It is a marketing scheme. On social media BW/EA have much more control of what they put on the spotlight whereas here in the forums it's no holds barred. Just remember: the whole ME3 ending debacle mushroomed to the mainstream media because of the forums. Here we can scrutinize and theorize about the game in much more detail than in a controlled environment like Twitter or Reddit.

                                                                                    <<<<<<<<<<(0)>>>>>>>>>>

Hm...

Bio has no confidence in their new games or a proactive containment strategy?

I think if a new game is bad, fans will have their say in reddit, tweeter and facebook social networks. You can't get any more exposure than that.

I think people really exaggerate how bad these forums are. From what I've seen of other video game boards they are par for the course. Maybe weirder, at times, but in terms of negativity? Hell, right now you can take a quick trip over to the CDPR forums and find a bunch of threads along the lines of "this company ain't what it used to be" and "their last good game was TW2" and "TW3 sucked and they don't care about their fans anymore" and so on and so forth. If this joint seems particularly bad now, is only because we have had nothing substantial to talk about since Trespasser. It's hard to keep up your enthusiasm when there is nothing to be enthusiastic about.

I also don't remember this "backlash" after DAI's release. In fact, as far as I remember the game was received very well even around here. Yes, some people didn't like it, but that's always going to happen. And yet again, I think the people who liked DAI have ran out of enthusiasm, which would have been solved quickly once we got more information, while those who didn't like DAI are simply worried that they will have the same experience with MEA.

Trust me, the moment they revealed the companions, this place would have been crawling with disgustingly saccharine threads speculating and fanboying/fangirling about each and every one of them. As soon as we got more details on the story we would get dozens of conspiracy theories trying to figure it out before the game comes out. And as soon as we got more information about game mechanics people would be talking about those too. Unless the game had something really egregious, like the ME3 endings, the hype would no doubt outlast release for a few months at least. Most criticism wouldn't even be all that noticeable until people had begun to calm down.
