Cassandra is a little controversial around these parts. I'd advise anybody who has concerns to express then openly but have an open mind and give uBSN a chance because we have assembled a promissing team of mods and this project is bigger than any one person.
I think I'll just stick to real dragon age fans
It looks good. I'm putting my eggs into many different baskets tbh. I'm trying uBSN as well as fextralife as it has established forums already, and realdragonagefans too as they're really friendly.
Maybe it's better if there are a few, then they can all take on their own personalities and they might be a little less toxic. Maybe. Perhaps.

I'm really hesitant to write this post as I don't have a personal vendetta against Cassandra Saturn. After reading her blog, I'm sympathetic and support many of her life struggles. I've spoken about my concerns publicly twice on these forums and once in PM. When I wrote those concerns, I had not seen her blog or read about any of her history with other forums. My concerns don't originate from any of that history but from what I personally witnessed since the forum closure announcement.
What struck me as odd was seeing the poster RealKorra follow Cassandra Saturn around praising her. The posting style was identical and the praise was....oddly personal. I suspected a sock and several other long-term posters made the accusation that RealKorra was an alt for Cassandra. After reading her blog, it's all but confirmed. She states in her blog:
"Cassandra prefers to be called Korra"

That statement coupled with the similarity in posting style (lower case letters, etc) and the odd adulation of Cassandra Saturn all but confirm in my mind that this is Cassandra's alt account used to promote Cassandra. So, here are some of the odd posts made by RealKorra praising Cassandra Saturn that first caught my attention:
"yeah, she's very busy and multi-tasking everything. she'll get the boards up soon she's really great person. made over 90 forums (including her own forums), 30 forum theme samples, doing lot of things for transgender community, communities. all while in college."

So, why does it matter that Cassandra Saturn has a sock account that promotes herself? Well, for one, it's manipulative. She's using her alt to give the appearance of false support from 'fans' that she doesn't have. It also calls into question the stability of this person. None of this would even matter if she wasn't setting herself up as the lifeboat for BSN refugees. I think it's great that she's kind enough to provide an alternative and the site looks beautiful. But, I question the long-term viability of the site when the creator is not above manipulating people with socks and appears unstable. From my perspective, the entire point of setting up a new BSN is to keep the community together as much as possible.
What happens if drama sinks that ship and the community further fractures?
Who else is in charge of uBSN?
How much control do the other people in charge actually have over the site?
There are several other sites being built. Before we reach a tipping point of 'joiners' to uBSN that makes it all but inevitable that most will follow, I'd like to see these other sites given a chance. See these threads for alternatives to uBSN:

We all have reputations and baggage we can't change.
Right now, uBSN is up and it works.
From what I can see Cassandra is an excellent admin. After 36 hours, the site is structurally sound and a wide range of moderators who 'get it' are being appointed. Content is going on and discussions are active.
I don't see any agendas at play, so unless that changes, I'm behind it.
Of course it makes sense that other projects like fextralife and archive scrapers continue to be supported because we don't know what will happen.
If one of those or other projects turns out to be better in the long term then we should all support it, but it is also possible that big projects never get off the ground.
So let's be practical about it.
If anyone has doubts, join 2 or 3 forums for now and see what you like.

Posting history doesn't quite indicate what kind of mod one would be. This place doesn't exactly promote common sense and responsible behavior. We all go a lil mad sometimes, like me and my gifs. Doesn't mean I wouldn't be a good mod.
I just visited uBSN and I must say it looks really well organized. They've got all the sections from ME 1,2, 3, A; DAO,DA2, DAI. They even have the Legend and Legacy areas. An Off Topic.
