In Inquisition, there is a lot of dialogue with NPCs that is viewed from a third person perspective. While I do like the option of being able to leave a conversation with a single button, I find the the third person perspective emotionally distancing.

In Origins and DA2, all conversations you were able to enter with NPCs had a cutscene. As if you were talking face to face. Being able to see the facial expressions of the NPCs while they talked enabled a greater ability to emotionally connect with them. And as a result, care about what they were talking about or asking you to do.

Also, boss battles seem more important and meaningful if accompanied by a cutscene. Fighting Chief Morvan's son and freeing the Inquisitions soldiers in the Fallow Mire felt like it supposed to be a big deal, but it didn't really feel like it. It was more like every other battle previous. Also, other boss battles, like Imshael had less impact without a cutscene.

I think it would be great if the next Dragon Age had more cutscenes during NPC dialogue and accompanying boss battles.

Imshael deserved a cutscene. Such a great character and I feel like it was a wasted chance.

I was okay with no cutscene when just casually speaking to companions (asking them questions about various things etc) because there was many other times when there would a cutscene. If there had been no cutscenes at all with companions (or only very few) that would have been annoying.

The problem with their switch from cinematic to over the shoulder chatting while it saved money and allowed for more conversations as soon as you got the cutscene you knew something big was going on. Which sorta ruins the suprise.
