She definitely seems like she would be a younger member of the cast (assuming she is a squaddie). I wouldn't mind if she's a bit like Vette from SWTOR...cute/funny/quirky, but not overly naive or immature. But my first choice for an asari squadmate would be a commando type with a bit of an renegade edge as well.
Help me, Liara T'soni. You're my Aria T'loak. Why we need a commando.

Merril and Sera were by far my least favorite of Bioware's companion characters, so I'd be be happy if I never again encounter their character types in another game. That I was getting Merril or Sera vibes from the Asari in th trailer has me concerned that she may be a squadmate.
Now I'm hoping that our new asari squadmate shoots people in the face without permission. Biower pls.

I wouldn't say she's a dork. She's clearly not a commando though.
That's what she want you to believe! Remember that Asari commandos fight dirty. She looks cute and harmless but once she earns her enemies' trust she will stab them in the back and rip off their guts.
