It will probably get locked as off-topic or whatever, but I've seen one too many vague comments about the risks of living on Proboards that enough is enough. Let's hear these horror stories, so we can make an informed decision.

I replied. I was not on proboards, but I've seen some mention online of forums being closed down without notice, after ~9 years of running. These came up as I searched for their TOS, so I assume anyone can find them. Whether that information is reliable or not, I cannot say, but at least for myself, I advocate owning your own place. (Which doesn't mean everyone should use mine, I'm just saying if you want control of your content don't rely on places who specify they can delete your board at anytime for any reason).

Over the last two weeks, total traffic on BSN Prime has dropped by around 60%.

Why start a thread if it's going to lock in 10 days and be deleted thereafter?

 

Some of the 'lifeboat' forums are now more active than this one,

though all spin-off forums have the challenge that their google ranking is negligable compared to this forum,

so how new fans find the new forums will be more tricky.

Fextralife's ranking is actually pretty good. When I google "mass effect andromeda forum," it's one of the first pages to pop up. And seeing as how the other pages that pop up are this soon-to-be obliterated site and news articles reporting on the fact that this site is soon-to-be obliterated, it'll probably be the one fans look to when the game comes out.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I've been so busy trying to establish a presence on other sites and get used to their culture and layout that I haven't had time to mess around here. And I don't want to post anything thoughtful or important because it's about to get nuked, so I'm mostly here to shitpost and hand out arm floaties to the drowning.

I can't sign up for any other boards right now due to being in another country on holiday and using my phone only. I'll be home soon though, 18 hours if flying later, so once back at my PC I'll sign up to all the other forums and rarely visit here.
