Thanks for the list ![]()
I'm leaning toward Fextralife and/or Cyonan's BSN. But I'll keep checking this thread in case something new appears.

I can vouch for The Shelter being a cool place. I've been there from the start.
I'm also vouching for Cyonan's BSN. We're truly working hard to make it a BSN Part II, so to speak.
Ah now, this is my ideal! What I want from a replacement forum is:
- a true BSN Mark II, not an existing forum
- with similar structure/layout for familiarity
- which covers DA and ME
- which isn't run by someone people keep mentioning red flags for
- where I can make a new Solas thread, if the threadusers wanted to go there
- where a lot of BSN's people go, so it's a similar community to before
If BSN Boards takes off, I'm there in my individual capacity regardless of whether the Solas thread moves there too (signed up anyway). I'd also suggest it to my thread as a location for the new Solas thread (if they wanted to stay with their current RDF consensus though, we would - I go by their majority preferences).
A Solas Thread would certainly have a home there! We actually just added subforums to allow for Character/Romance discussion in the MEA and DAI subsections. Bring the Blanketfort. ![]()

I can't access many of these curgently because I'm in China. Not sure if blocked or flaky Internet. Bookmarked this thread for reference though.
I visit china frequently and fextralife was not blocked last time I tried - would you mind telling me if this is one of them? (just for my own reference as I'd like to see what I can do about it if it got walled)

Not sure if the Twitter Thread regulars are planning to try and do those over multiple forums, but http://bsn.boards.net has Hrungr and Lady Sif currently doing Mass Effect Andromeda and Dragon Age Twitter threads (and I believe one is being set up for the New IP as well). Elite Pinecone, PCThug, and BioFan also have invites in their inboxes.

Fextralife opens up just fine for me.

So many options. I feel like I'm fleeing from Lothering.
"We can't just wander aimlessly."
"THE WILDS are to the south, that's no way out!"
Realistically, I'm going to have to follow at least two, if not three boards, until I see how things shake out. Or rather, who shakes out. Because what it all comes down to is people and where friends end up.
I'll make a prediction: I think there will be a schism across the natural boundaries of BSN sub-communities. Permathreads like The Blanketfort will carry a chunk of people with them to wherever they go. Other permathreads may end up someplace else. Us min/maxers in the Combat forum will probably land in a third place. Folks who belong to multiple sub-communities may end up having to spend time on multiple boards.
Which is why this thread is incredibly helpful. So helpful that I suggest that Lady Artifice select at least one of the new sites as a host for a copy of this thread, and going forward, as the meeting place for everyone to keep track of everyone else. Then those of us that have to visit multiple boards will have a roadmap for who went where that will survive after BSN gets zapped into the Fade.

I believe the plan is to have a section linking the others in each board. I'll double-check if there's one set up with Cyonan, and if not I'll put up a temporary one in announcements, at least.

I'm all for that. That will be great.
However, what I'm anticipating is that people will migrate over time. The choice for a new site they make today may not be where they are 6 months from now. So if there was a single place where people could leave a forwarding address, like, "Hey, I used to be on xyz.net, but that got shutdown/I got banned from there, so now I'm on abc.net,"

Quite wisely, they have not allowed me to post threads in the announcements section. That will probably minimize the number of wiggling penis gifs in there, so I can hardly blame them!
But I did copy/paste the OP into the Forum Suggestions area, and I'm sure someone will clean it up and get a proper page for it going over there.

Shh.
I'm not supposed to talk about that thread.
And I believe the request was actually asked later by someone else in the other pinned thread and answered.

TSG - Top Shelf Gaming is a site created by Johnnie Walker as a staging ground for her future YouTube channel. As a result, the forum's focus is more broad than just BSN/BioWare. Moderation style is more relaxed than its contemporaries. Growing community events (movie night, twitch streams), strong banter amongst it's tight knit community, and an open politics board are it's strengths.
Fextralife - A website run by Fexelea, the Fextralife forums are a place where people can discuss the Mass Effect and Dragon Age games. Fexelea is also one of the few attempting to archive and preserve the data of current BSN. The attached Wiki network which gives people access to information on a variety of games ranging from Dark Souls to The Witcher is it's unique feature.
uBSN - The Unofficial BioWare Social Network was the first website to emerge that attempts to be a direct replacement for the BSN. The uBSN is also attempting to archive and import the current BSN. Run by Cassandra Saturn, it's desire to emulate the current BSN format for smooth transition is it's most unique feature.
RDF - RealDragonAgeFans was founded by AutumnWitch and initially served as a hub for Dragon Age discussion. It has since expanded in scope to accommodate the coming closure of the BSN. It is the oldest of the splinter communities, created in 2014. It's focus on in-depth lore and romance discussions is its biggest strength.
New BSN - New BSN is the most recent of the splinter communities and the largest. Created by Cyonan as a means of keeping the community intact, it emulates the old BSN format and alongside uBSN, is intended to be a direct successor site. The endorsement and involvement of respected community heavyweights, as well as it's swelling population, are it's biggest strengths.
RPG Codex - This prestigious magazine forum is a place for civilised people wishing to have warm, polite discussions on the intricacies of interpersonal relationships within RPGs. It is a welcoming space for those who wish to talk about emotionally engaging cinematic narratives, instead of cold, clunky and outdated mechanics.

I admit that I really wanted to see where most of the audience is going, but I'm truly wanting to follow those with the biggest influence on the MP resources, which seem to mean following DragonRacer and Cyonan who I've seen just about every time I've searched for something. Could someone track down Penguin for the DAIMP side of things? He has some good builds and is detailed.
Yes, I'm a lurker, but enjoy the goofballs, lore and quest help all the same. Good luck to us all. The Dawn Will Come.

T'was Conal that pinned it; he mentioned doing it in the main thread. I just thought I'd mention that because I don't believe he's a bad guy that wants us all to be left twisting in the wind like I've seen a couple of posters try and make him out to be.
