I'm not sure whether or not it's due to a bad batch, but I grabbed ME2 today, popped the box, slotted the disc ... and heard very interesting and somewhat disturbing sounds from my dvd drive. It utterly refuses to read the ME2 dvds. Oh, it acknowledges something's been put in, but otherwise? Nada. Zip. No good. I got this problem once or twice with the Dragon Age discs, but they seemed to be reading just fine when I checked. And yes, I grabbed a number of other CDs and DVDs to check whether or not it isn't something wrong with my drive. It's not. It's just that no matter how often I try to get the ME2 discs to read, they end up giving me the finger.
Just thought I'd share, and ask whether or not anyone else has had this particular issue.
For now, I'm grabbing a digital copy via EA Download Manager - they deserve kudos for this if nothing else, beacuse my gamer itch had me halfway ready to try and grab a pirated copy from other parts before I realized I could just register the Key and bypass that annoying disc shuffle altogether while remaining legit.
Salut.

Having seen it happen before (DA: O), I recognized it and didn't waste my time attempting more installs. Something on the disk (second of the two) conflicts with some DVD drives, so I installed across my LAN from another PC's DVD, and it did work that way. Last time, I had also attempted installing from a folder on my Hdd containing the contents of the DA: O disk, which didn't work at all, not even a smidge, for me.
The option to use the game's registration number to get a digital download from the EA Store is newer than when I had the trouble last November.

I had this issue with disc 2. Ended up having to grab a different drive from another machine in the house and hooking it up to my computer. That one could read it and I successfully installed the game.
