So here I am thinking to myself, "man, I'd love to beat mass effect again" except 2 & 3 aren't even available for xbox one (despite there no longer being an issue with multi-disc reverse compatibility). And it especially doesn't make sense after ME1 was showcased as xbox ones poster child for reverse compatibility at E3. So this has got me thinking...

There's a chance that Microsoft is in on some kind of deal with Bioware to regulate the distribution of the original trilogy, in the hopes of incentivizing some kind of pre order bonus in the form of a remaster or something when Andromeda hits.  kind of like that dick move that COD just pulled with MW.

So I ask you, my esteemed debaters.... thoughts?

Possibly... but nothing is ever "safe" to expect here, it seems.  Bioware seems to like to drop bombs from out of the blue.  Worst case  - nothing happens with either a remaster or backwards compatibility.  Best case... we eventually get both.

I would like that -just not 10 years from now when Andromeda releases...

I doubt it. The devs already Stated before a HD port is unlikely, but then again nothing is certain with BW.

Yeah, I remember hearing something about that. Just find it hard to believe they'd do away with everything like that/ why are they torturing XB1 users

I don't think they're gonna do a remaster - EA have specifically criticised them in the past, and I haven't seen any evidence that their position on the topic might have shifted since - but there is a chance they'll do a Fallout 4-style, 'Pre-Order and get the previous game(s) free on Xbox One' through the backwards compatibility programme. And if they sort out the port for a deal like that, it'll work if you just have the old games on disk, too.

Yeah I'm honestly hoping that I get a chance to take the multiplayer for another spin before bioware decides to kill that next. It was bomb!!!

I don't think they want to be reminding people of how ME3 ended before Andromeda comes out.

Generally remasters and re-releases are to either gauge interest in a franchise before investing money in making a new game or there aren't any plans to release a new game in the franchise for awhile.

The other problem with remasters and BioWare specifically is from what I have seen people have a laundry list of things they would want included in a release of the original games and I don't see EA having BioWare directly responsible they would farm it out to another studio to make the port so the games would basically be what we originally got with a couple of tweaks.  So no matter what they do it will have a lot of negativity around it.

This is kind of off topic but I wonder if the announcement of the xbox "scorpio" had anything to do with the year long delay Andromeda announced at E3... Because as of right now both are scheduled to come out at exactly the same time (the holliday season is littered with this stuff in general so it could very well be a coincidence, but still..)

Bioware has no say in ME 2 or ME 3 being backwards compatible (bc) on the xbox one. If I member correctly (99% sure) the publisher is the one who decides if they want there game to be bc. The publisher for ME 1 was Microsoft Game Studios, so that is why it was one of the first bc games. If the game is not published by Microsoft, then Microsoft can do nothing to make any other game bc unless the publisher wants to.

Weird that EA would say that, seems like they would love remasters since they could scrap the bottom of the barrel for extra cash to make.

I do not think so, that would be a hell of a delay (again) since the game is supposed to come early 2017 (March-ish). They would have to delay it till October/November. Plus, I do not think they would gain anything, since they would not have that much time with 4k tech. It takes a while to fully master a hardware's graphics, just look at Oblivion compared to Skyrim for example.
